TOP 10 MOVIES OF 1986: 1. Aliens 2. Castle In The Sky 3. Hoosiers 4. The Fly 5. Stand By Me 6. Little Shop Of Horrors 7. Down By Law 8. Ferris Bueller's Day Off 9. An American Tail 10. Manhunter
Never realised 1986 was such a quality year. Here's my 10 whittled down from 45 great films. 10. Platoon 9. Highlander 8. Poltergeist 2 7. The Colour Of Money 6. Malcolm 5. The Fly 4. Dead End Drive In 3. Labyrinth 2. Aliens 1. Stand By Me
That's a good list. I do like all of those, though only a couple of them made it to my top ten. I actually thought of several that I assumed surely would be on my list, but then when I looked up 1986 on Letterboxd and sorted them by rating I saw that there are so many good films from that year. I've seen 97, it says, and my top ten are as follows: 01. Aliens 02. The Mission 03. Platoon 04. Stand by Me 05. Blue Velvet 06. Mauvais Sang 07. Mona Lisa 08. Hoosiers 09. The Fly 10. Manhunter I have to list a few honorable mentions, as well, but I won't rank them in any particular order: A Better Tomorrow, Big Trouble in Little China, Top Gun, Righting Wrongs, Millionaire's Express, Star Trek IV, Something Wild, Salvador, At Close Range, and 52 Pick-Up. Well, I guess I pretty much went and made a top 20, but it was so hard to stick to just ten!
Here are my picks for the Class Of 1986: 5. Transformers: The Movie(1986). Before Michael Bay ruined this franchise, there was this original animated film. 4. Top Gun. One of Tom Cruise's best films. 3. Friday The 13th Part VI: Jason Lives. A better sequel than the previous installment. 2. Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. A great Star Trek film that doesn't hit you over the head with it's message. 1.(Validictorian Pick) Ferris Bueller's Day Off. One of the best teen films of all time.
Have to agree with Transformers 86. It might not show up on most best lists, but it was very important to me and my friends. When Optimus died it was when I truly understood what death meant. That shit hit hard to 5 year old me
Great list Hey byran can you do 2003 movies that would be interesting heres my top 6 1 man hunter 2 night of the creeps 3 critters 4 jason lives 5 chopping mall 6 the hitchers
Watched Highlander last week, been a while since I watched it but when I was younger I would pop it in at least once a year. There was an animated serie as well that I think was pretty entertaining.
If I was gonna add a few horrors that are not on there I'd put maybe House or Vamp, or non-horror Ferris Buellers day off. I actually watched Star trek 4 at the cinema and loved it.
Superb list I've seen most of these and if agree with your ranking of all the ones I've seen. Is mild trekkie a euphemism? ie Michael Douglas snaps in the movie Falling Down and goes mild trekkie 😂
Ahhh Man. What about Platoon. There was At Close Range Top Gun Lucas Something Wild Henry Potrait of a Serial killer Rivers Edge Little Shop of Horrors Pretty in Pink. My guilty pleasure Night of the Creeps
Not a fan of Oliver Stone. Platoon should never have won Best Picture. Top Gun has not aged well at all. It pales in comparison to the sequel. I hated Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. Just found it bleak and sickening. Little Shop of Horrors does nothing for me though I do appreciate the effects work and Pretty in Pink is like a crap version of Some Kind of Wonderful, which is far superior and probably my favourite John Hughes movie.
Not a fan personally. I never saw it as a kid, only as an adult, so it just feels like a toy commercial to me. But I imagine it would carry a lot of nostalgia for those who watched it when they were kids.
Great video, would have to think about my list for this year but there are some crackers in there and i would have some of the same. Certainly my number 1 is Aliens as well without a doubt!. The Hitcher, Highlander, Platoon, The Fly would be in there too

1 man hunter
2 night of the creeps
3 critters
4 jason lives
5 chopping mall
6 the hitchers
Maximum overdrive would be my critters of this list lol

Mine is Poltergeist 2.
Watched Highlander last week, been a while since I watched it but when I was younger I would pop it in at least once a year. There was an animated serie as well that I think was pretty entertaining.
Great list, they only one I havn't seen in Manhunter.
Great content as usual.
Would love to know what you think of the new Batman and detective comics creative teams? And reading anything else?
I was born in 87 so umm yea 87?
1987 has some great films, as well. That would be a fun year to do!
🤣🤣🤣 I'm using that in future.

Hmmm I wonder if the OG top gun will be on this list?
My number 1 is The Transformers The Movie
Not a fan personally. I never saw it as a kid, only as an adult, so it just feels like a toy commercial to me. But I imagine it would carry a lot of nostalgia for those who watched it when they were kids.
What about top gun why is that not on the list
Coz it's crap! The sequel, however, is not.
