My grandmother and I just got one of these for her window garden. Took a few clippings today. I love peperomia plants. They are so easy to care for and you can have millions of them because they stay small.
Summer, you have such a God given gift!! I love your pleasant demeanor. You’re a very beautiful person. Thank you, for teaching us how to care for our peperomia plants and other houseplants 💕the Lord bless you!!
I find that the best way to water these is bottom watering. Works like a charm for me, I killed a few before switching to bottom watering, and I totally think that's the way to go with peps!
I will definetely try that yeah! I have a caperata rosso at home that lost all of its leaves... I really don't know what happened there, maybe too much light? I pulled it further away from the window and I will try to water it from the bottom now!
I love this plant so much! The main one I have is a quite a bit bigger than yours and I've gotten so many babies out of it! Whenever a leaf stem snaps off, I propagate them. I plop them in a glass of water, but don't let the water touch the raw ends until I see pretty strong root growth. Once they are ready to be planted into soil they put out new leaves from the root- pretty nice warning system! The original plant has also given me a little baby offshoot I have moved to another pot. I've probably have gotten over 10 new plants from the original one! They seem to be pretty happy almost anywhere I put them
I have been growing houseplants for many years now and never saw Peperomia's until I watched your videos and now I am hooked. They are great plants. Btw, I love your channel.
Try again with a faster draining more sandy mix. Most of time Caperata collapse happens when your medium is holding on to too much moisture. Caperata loves humidity but hates wet feet.
Am I the only who has had issues with crown rot on peperomias? Particularly trailing ones. I switched to exclusively bottom watering my peperomias which has helped immensely.
just got these today with a good price at $3 usd. repotted it to a concrete pot with sandy type of lose potting mix from japan, not sure if it'd be alright. I guess I'll have to keep an eye on that.
I bought a beautiful P. caperata with cream colored foliage and green speckles and blotches here and there. Unfortunately, it came with no tag, hence no cultivar name. From a family run nursery in Newton, NH.
What type of soil does the ruby ripple need. Mine was like yours when I bought it but over time the leaves have cupped and become smaller.. Please advise friend. ☺️ 🌿 💚
I’ve heard that, at least in the northeast US, now /autumn is the time when peperomia start to grow. Is this true? Should I continue to fertilize? We always talk about ‘the growing season’ and, for me, that’s usually spring & summer, tapering off in early fall. Are peperomias on a different schedule?
Once the plant flowers, how long do they last? Do you prune it once they are spent? I have the Red Ripple flowering right now and some seem to have flopped. Unfortunately no info on my question anywhere!
Mine is dropping and feeling very soft and also the colour is fading.im scared to water incase I kill it though. Is there a way to tell more definitely the differences between over and under watering?
Can having peperomia in a pot too large kill the plant? I had a caperata in a 6 inch pot when I first started out and it eventually slowly died at the cluster. Leaves were fine and healthy though
I have the red variety and I've overwatered it (even thought I let the soil dry out completely), is there any way to save it? it's completely drooped :(
Peperomias are the best bc they're one of those plants that u can just cut off a leaf with its petiole and put it in moist soil and it'll root up and make a new plant fairly quickly
Anytime I put a peperomia leaf in the soil, all I got was a peperomia leaf with roots. If you put the leaf into a jar of water, soon you will get roots. Once the roots are a good length, then you will get tiny leaves. Plant it into soil once you have a mini plant. Not too soon though, it will rot like one of mine did. I've successfully propagated four different peperomia using this method.
I've had great success with most of my peperomias by stem cuttings in water. I let the cut stem dry out for a few hours before putting in water (otherwise they rotted right away). I'm experimenting now with going straight into soil. That is working well, so long as the soil is damp, not wet, and with a cover to keep in humidity. The only one can't seem to propogate is watermelon pep.
@@litlckrets Ha, the best one (IMO). The problem I'm having with my watermelon pep are wrinkled, misshapen leaves. I've never tried propagating I don't want to take off one of the few good leaves.

I dropped one of its leaf in my terrarium and now I have little offsets growing. They’re so easy to propagate! 💚🌿🍃
Party idea: binge watch 365 days of plants and take a shot every time Summer says 'particular plant', see how far you make it 😃
Nadja each person picks a different word, tremendous, semi-succulent, particular plant, pest pressures.
Or epiphytic
Are you still alive?

Ella Preuss oo thank you! i have a tiny starter pink lady plug and there were two newer leaves i killed by top watering :/ hopefully it bounces back

Please let me know how to care in northern India... It's summer and my is just dropped out
Yes ! I have three different cultivars of the Ripple and they are all super easy and adorable. All in bloom as well. So cute
Got my first peperomia today.. I am so excited😊
How is it doing? :)
@@monicasmm died a while ago
@@shaliniverma7020 aw, sorry to hear that :( hope you got another one to try again!
I LOVE the pots that you have in that style. Are you able to find out where they come from?
This sp. brings out the Pokémon in me: "Gotta catch 'em all!" :P Because they're so cute... Okayyy, maybe just 3 or 4. =)
Healthy plants🌿👍🌿And I like that green pot🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿
Would cutting off the rat tails help send energy to the leaves and help make it a little bushier? Love your videos so helpful💕

I have both two...well, HAD. I still have the Ruby one...but the green one went kaplooey just yesterday of all days. My other ones are going strong.

So adorable when you spoke of the inflorescence 💕

Same. I killed a couple of species which I haven't been able to find again, and that makes me so sad. I exclusively bottom water my peps.

Is that green pot from Sprout Home? I've been eyeing it for a while! So beautiful!
Beautiful plant! 😍☘️

I bought one of these like a week ago. It looks fantastic, but afraid to over/under water it. I have the deep-dark-red version.
same but it was literally yesterday! hows yours doing so far?
@@aahpuuh Not too great. A lot of foliage at the base has withered, the rest of it is doing fine....its just balding for some reason.
If I find mine is getting leggy & want it to stay in a small ball shape do I just cut the leaves off & new ones will make it more bushy or?
is there any way to make them more red?

I love this pot! And plant too! Where did you get this pot?
It's from Italy and I got from Sprout Home
@@summerrayneoakes They're made in Italy, but they're actually designed by the Danish brand 'Bergs Potter' - this is the 'Simona' pot.
For an extremely common Peperomia, it is not that easy to keep. Easily rots if overwatered.
Love me some peperomias! 💚🌱 #planttreasures

Where do you get those planters? I’ve seen different colors of the same design though out your videos. I need them 😍
@SummerRayneOaks the bottom layer of mine is very leggy. Should I cut it back and plant the tops back in to the pot?
Hii, What is poting soil mix for it.
Any ready made mix.

I have a peperomia Russo, that I would like to divide. Are there any tips on dividing this plant?
On my Wish List!!!
I want that pot😃love it
I already lost 3 caperata.. (water once every 2 weeks, indirect light..) help please?
If you give them another go try just watering from the bottom as needed. Have also learned to avoid getting any water droplets on the leaves.
@@gwendolynsinclair Thank you!
Lets talk Peperomia, Summers favourite. You have more varietys than the planet.

my peperomias leafs are yellowing a bit any tips ? but its okay bc i always propagate the plants ı think ı cant keep alive ^^
Mine are dropping don’t know what I’m doing wrong 😑
fun fact: they smell like lettuce
How to watering?😢

Do they need alot of light?

Yeah, mine died. 😔

Only 160 days late...
I kill this plant every time. 😢
yeah there leaves smell like cigarettes 😁

spe-seas, not spe-shees.
Wrong. Look it up. Summer is one of the best plant you tubers at pronouncing words correctly.
