This is a really good match.. Man, I get goosebumps every time I see Sting get hit by the guitar, then go into beast mode! Love it! I miss this period of TNA, but I still enjoy the product a lot today as well.
Sting no selling the guitar shot is one of my favorite moments in wrestling. The fans had been trained by that point to expect the same old ending of Jarrett sneaking in a guitar shot and winning, so the air just goes out of the building when it happens...and then Sting just shrugs it off and they go crazy. It's so great.
Sting is one of the most likeable wrestlers of all time. The man is so loyal to whatever company he is with, a great worker, durable, teacher for the younger guys etc. I consider him as one of the greatest to ever do it.
I agree with both of you, people doesn't understand the real meaning and feeling of wrestling... even the bad character wrestler has good qualities of wrestling.
@Lakers fan ric flair is a man with good heart, ofcourse sting is too... may be people love Ric flair for that reason. Anyway judging peple qualities is really hard.

The storytelling in this match is immense. Other than the kind of convoluted role of Angle in the match, everything was as close to perfect as a career vs title match can get. The slow start from the face, the heel establishing the real threat of his victory, the entire buildup towards that massive pop when Sting gets hit by the guitar and gets rejuvenated instead, old school wrestling in the modern era at its best
Sting looked great here for being 47yo at the time. I know he really deteriorated physically towards the end of his run, but aside from not being as big, Sting looked as good here on 2006 as he did in 1996. My all time favorite!

Sting was the best older wrestler we've seen for quite some time. He was better at 50 than Flair at 50, Hogan at 50, Nash, Hall, etc. and now maybe even the Undertaker.

21:34 was such a great moment. The crowd reaction, the no sell and Sting powerup/chest beat. It was like watching Goku go super saiyan for the first time again or when Sting first attacked the NWO in 1997. He’s the greatest of all time
@Anthony Lockhart They did do some damage but it was Dixie and Russo that fucked up TNA to the point of no return Dixie lied to Spike TV about Russo not working there while Russo accidently sent an email to PWinsider instead of Mike Tenay blowing the cover of his status (Tho I question how Spike did not know before since just watch TNA 2007-2014 It was dead set obvious Vinnie Roo was working in TNA)
By modern standards Jeff Jarrett is actually pretty good in the ring. Despite what the haters want to claim. For the most part he pretty much carried this match. Sting knows how to roll with it and let JJ do his thing.
Just to put a comment here: Jeff Jarrett is probably the best worker during this period of TNA. He is athletic, unexpectedly strong and has great psychology for the match. Maybe his lengthy reign as NWA Champion is heavily criticized, but seeing WWE and AEW right now, I would absolutely put the world title on Jarrett. Give him the credit he deserves as a great wrestler.
On this night, Sting became the oldest NWA World Heavyweight Champion of the TNA era, as well as the only person to ever win the title both before and after the inception of TNA. This would also go on to make Sting the longest superstar to recapture his second NWA title from 1990 to 2006 (16 years).
I always heard that line about Jeff Jarrett, breaking a thousand guitars and never drawing a dime-well, he drew me and I'm pretty goddamn important, so there.
Bound for Glory was the Wrestlemania of TNA. Sting no selling that guitar shot was one of my favorite moments and seeing him World champion again. I believe Jeff was having personal issues prior to this match and went on a hiatus
My very first Bound For Glory I ever watched. I didn't even know the NWA Titles were still being defended till this time. Fast forward almost 16 years now, IMPACT and NWA are slowly joining back together with other promotions. Wrestling truly comes full circle, everytime
One of my favorite matches. Storytelling is great, the commentary is great, the wrestling is great, and the ending with sting no selling the guitar and winning with one of the best submission finishers of all time was amazing. Plus it has another one of my favorite wrestlers of all time, Kurt Angle, in it. I just wish I could have watched this match as a it happened when I was a kid, but even watching it for the first time much later on I still popped. Old school TNA was tough to beat!
I remember double at the sportorium in Dallas . he teamed up with Kerry von Erich and Billy Joe Travis..wish those two around .kerry I could easily seen doing his last matches here.
For what it's worth, I think Jeff is really solid wrestler and an excellent worker. When Jeff was champion he would defend the title all over the world trying to spread the word. Without being a house hold name, he managed to bring more attention to TNA than Hulk Hogan managed to and I think that's really respectable. I think he knew that if he could get people to watch, they would stay for AJ Styles, Joe, Daniel, and others and he could only do that as the champion.

The official end of JJ’s Reign of Terror. This moment right here was the equivalent to Batista officially ending HHH’s Reign of Terror at WrestleMania 21.
The thing is he's been doing it about as long as the Undertaker...maybe longer since his career started before the Undertakers, although maybe not Mean Mark (Taker's name in WCW)
swygster Yeah, it's only recently that I even remembered Sting doing the tombstone, I recall him doing it to Scott Steiner in the 90s. Did he have a different name for it?
Watching this again after some years I realize that sting actually got rocked with the guitar hit over the head. He took a second or two to get his footing back and get back into character.

How old was Sting at that time? 46 or 47? Great shape he's in. Amazing.
God
47
The official end of JJ’s Reign of Terror. This moment right here was the equivalent to Batista officially ending HHH’s Reign of Terror at WrestleMania 21.
Yup. We thought we got it at Against all odds when Christian won it but Jarrett ended up getting his grubby hands on it again
THE LEGENDARY ICON😎
Back when TNA looked like it could become genuine competition to WWE. Definitely one of the best title matches they ever had.
if only sting had no sold at wrestlemania
Shank Montgomeryফাহানা
What are you talking about? He never sold out at WrestleMania
@zarin shapurjee
No what he means is that if only sting no sold triple h’s moves at WrestleMania 31, it would’ve been awesome.

Kind of surreal seeing Sting do the Tombstone
The thing is he's been doing it about as long as the Undertaker...maybe longer since his career started before the Undertakers, although maybe not Mean Mark (Taker's name in WCW)
swygster Yeah, it's only recently that I even remembered Sting doing the tombstone, I recall him doing it to Scott Steiner in the 90s. Did he have a different name for it?
GilbertSyndrome Steiner Screwdriver
He did it v ddp in 99 I recall. Title match where he lost the belt later that night
+Mark Hoyles or with Goldberg, when he was black and red
Sting looks great here.
21:31 that might be the best crowd pop for a no sell I’ve ever heard. I felt that in the year 2023. Sting for life 🦂 💯
"He broke a thousand guitars and never drew a dime"
wow you were first to a quote that was inaccurate.
Because the guitar was his ace in the hole. His trump card. And Sting was still standing after taking it. He knew he was in trouble.
Jason Voorheese Have you seen somebody stand up after getting hit my a guitar in the head
i love stings reaction after he gets hit with the guitar, just hulks out on a mo fo lol classic sting!
Watching this again after some years I realize that sting actually got rocked with the guitar hit over the head. He took a second or two to get his footing back and get back into character.
Sting had one of the best gimmicks in wrestling ever,i love the crow character
