🤗 You can zigzag the edge of the linen and it will work just as good as the surged edge. Will give you another chance to use your sewing machine! Lighting is a lot better!👍
Yay!! Love the winter house manor and the lighting is MUCH better ♥️👍🏼 sewing is SEW much fun I started like you with wanting to learn and I’ve learned so much from many different quilters. Pat Sloan channel is great and so is Kimberly from Fat Quarter Shop you will be great I love your room 💕happy stitching and enjoy your week
Oh good on the lighting! I have one more thing I'm going to try to add as well. I follow Fat Quarter Shop, but I am going to follow Pat Sloan right now--thanks for the top!
Another great video! I think we all have a Learning Sampler but you can always see a piece of muslin to the right side. I have a sampler or two like that. You can use counting pins to see if you will have enough. As far as Modern Folk charts, I had to change how I did the border, I do the every 10 and then go back. But you may be able to go from the inside to the inside of the next month and then fill the border after? Just a thought for you. Maynia sounds fun, I have my Consider the Lilies on the 40 count Seraphim Dusty Road (totally copied from Nicole) and may be pulling that out for May. If anything it is a big project and commitment so you want to enjoy your stitching so see what works out best for you. I would try a few stitches on both counts, not sure how DMC would be on 56 count. Either way it will be a beautiful stitch. I just ordered Ooh La La from Blackbird and have All Joys for Thine and Feliz Navidad which I need to do. Congratulations on your PhD and sewing machine, I got one for my 60th last year and my friend was going to teach me how to sew, hopefully that will happen soon. Project bag is great! I was surprised too about the Legacy Linen not being serged too but that is one thing I can do on my sewing machine. You are going to love the silks, it is wonderful to stitch this. Have fun stitching.
Thank you Renee--and that is an AMAZING idea! Thank you I did not think of that! I have my eye on Ooh LaLa as well! Keep me updated on your sewing; sounds like we are going to be learning together!
On your May Health and Peace sampler you could sew a piece of muslin on your short edge to make framing easier. Or you could sew a contrasting border on all sides and make it a wall hanging, quilt style. Don't give up on it. It's such a beautiful stitch! You can zigzag around the edge of your linen piece that isn't serged. I do that a lot. Your project bag is so cute. You did an awesome job! I need to get some of that fabric and make one...or two! 😀 Fat Quarter Shop has some beginning quilt videos if you are interested. Great video!
Ive just started WRM - done the roof and starting working on the pink house now but Im using Conch - I hope its pink enough!!! Im a bit envious of your pink thread ;)
I enjoy your stitching. The excitement that you show for cross stitching is contagious. It makes me remember how I was when I started so many years ago. Thank you for your time that you spend making your videos in your busy life.
I ordered The Darling Buds of May kit from The Country Sampler for Brenda & Laura’s Blackbird SAL. I like that it’s small enough to be realistic for a full time working mom to finish within a mom. It’s a section of a larger sampler, if you feel so inclined.
I just love Winter Rose Manor. I am still working on my first cross stitch project (which will probably take me months even though it is small) but I would love to stitch WRM. Do you think it is too hard for a beginner? Could I stitch a project on 28 count instead of 40 count? Seems like a 28 count would make it easier to see the holes🙂 Beth
You can definitely stitch it on 28 count. I think if you do that you will enjoy it. I would just take your time, and don't be afraid to make a mistake. I find, if I LOVE a pattern, it doesn't really matter too much how hard it is because my love for it overcomes the challenges :)
@@amomandhercar2472 Thanks for the encouragement Eva. My first project is going sooooo slow. I am having trouble seeing the little holes. I might try to find a pair of strong reading glasses this week. I keep starting in the wrong place and having to take out my stitches. My project is pretty simple but when I try to use multiple needles, they keep getting tangled. You are right though. I will keep trying because I love seeing all the pretty projects that you do. Beth
Hi Eva! Yes, you can just sew a piece of fabric to the edge for framing! How about using some counting pins (I just use my stitching needles) and taking time to count over how many stitches you have left to get to the farthest right border just to make sure you have enough linen. And you can always frame something you don’t finish with that very thought: This was a learning piece, and I will enjoy it as it is! I hope you can get back to Winter Rose soon so we can stitch it together! Strawberry Fields is so sweet, and I’m loving it with the SAL. Oh, and you might want to make sure the cotton overdyes will work on the 56. I’ve not stitched on anything higher than 46, and I’m pushing it with the overdyes. I think you might need a thinner silk for the higher counts. Just a thought for you to do a test strip. Lighting is much better! Loving your videos! 🤗
Very very smart! Great idea, I will get this out and do some planning. Oh interesting about the cottons on 56 count. I hadn't thought about that...off to do some test stitching!
Don’t give up on this, you may be surprised how a professional framer can work with that short edge.. not a box store, but a framing shop... it’s beautiful
Use it as a dish towel😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣what a funny comment. Be proud of your first sampler. No-one gets it perfect when they start put at any hobby, stitching included. I made lots of silly mistakes when I started out, still do actually 😂
I'm Sorry but I laughed out loud when you said "Use it as a dish towel"...We've all made our mistakes on cross stitching right? I liked your idea of a pillow. You do beautiful work. I'll be working on my Fruits of Plenty soon. I'm looking so forward to it. In a previous video you mentioned a wall of MFE of the same (or coordinating blues, or color of your choice) and I loved that idea. I'm a huge fan of MFE as well. Something about the visual simplicity makes them beautiful. I love your videos because you share sources and people that you got ideas, floss etc....from. That is such a big help because that's one of the reasons I watch FT. I'm in RI and it's such a small state that I have to go to MA if I want to check something out. I do 90% of my stuff online. I really appreciate all your work in putting videos together and your information. I'm a fan.
Don't use it as a dish towel! 😨 Your pieces look lovely, and it would be amazing to see both Heartstring Samplery pieces done, though it would be a ton of work. I do flosstube videos, and am on Insta as ivyhousecrafter.

Let me know how the conch works out--I'm curious if I'll be envious of the called for!

Okay, thanks for the encouragement--great point. A professional would probably know how to handle!

Your sal is pretty. Are you gonna have enough fabric? Thats what i am always stressing about.
This is the first one of your videos I’ve watched and I really enjoyed it. I’m @craftingwithfizzy on Instagram. I’m one of your followers.
Oh yeah I am so glad you enjoyed it! I just went over to Instagram to follow you back--looks like we like the same kind of projects!
@@amomandhercar2472 thank you. I’ve only just started using Instagram. Looking forward to following your stitching progress and your videos.

hahaha! Hopefully I won't :). Just followed, thanks for mentioning!
