We like to make an alternate version of most of our songs as our own remix/re-imagining of the original. It allows us to explore new sections, develop some things more, try new approaches, and generally make them more cinematic. A lot of filmmakers like to use our music, so this gives them more material to work with. New endings, cut points, moods, etc. We usually completely finish the main version then pull it apart with no boundaries for the alt. This tends to be very satisfying and we usually end up liking the alt versions better than the originals! :)
