NELL is iconic and legendary. They've been making music together since 1999, formed by four childhood friends. They're one of the two bands that really got me into kbands and k-rock along with Hyukoh. NELL is more known for their gloomy and psychedelic songs but I always love it when they go hard like this. They're 100% better live too so expect some live stages of theirs in a future request! I'm really happy you're blown away by them and that the comments here are discovering and recognizing their talents. As I've mentioned in my request, Kim Jongwan, the lead singer, was one of the judges in Superband S1! A lot of artists look up to them. Oh and yes, NELL has lots of all-English tracks. Great requests for Onewe and N.Flying too! Hot Potato is one of my ultimate favorites and Onewe never fails with their rearrangements of their own songs. Their special clips are indeed special bc they always do something different from the original. Thank you for today's video!
Forgot to mention to that NELL is now under an independent record label they set up themselves, Space Bohemian. They were previously under Woollim Entertainment for 10 years.
so hot potato might seem super quirky and happy but there's actually a pretty sad meaning behind it. at the time n.flying was still super unknown in the industry, so this song is basically them mocking themselves and saying they want to be famous. as you can tell, in the mv they keep dreaming that they're on a red carpet and winning awards while they're actually in a homemade setup in a garage. in one scene, cha hun is holding up dollar bills in the private plane, only for it to flash back to reality and he's actually holding overdue bills. that form u were curious about is them selling their kidneys cuz they're so desperate i think (squid game who?). hope that kinda made sense haha
Ah yes, the Halloween version of Parting. This song has not one, not two, not even three, but FOUR DIFFERENT ARRANGEMENTS (aside from the original and this Halloween one, there's also an acoustic version and a Chuseok/Korean Thanksgiving version). Loved your reaction!
As someone who has been a Nell fan for over 10 years, has multiple Nell tattoos. Thank you for giving them a chance. They have been favorite band for over 10 years and they are my love, despite people rarely knowing who they are.
Kanghyun intentionally misbending those notes works so well here! Yeah, more ONEWE please. Also I think the N.Flying guy was signing away his organs to pay debts. 😂 Impressed with NELL too, gonna have to look up more.
Nell is a great example of a tragically underrated Kband. They've been around since 2001. They have 11 studio albums. They've toured in the US. They have consistently charted in Korea. They consistently win music awards. Their MVs have no views. Also, you've been seeing the lead vocalist of Nell, Kim Jong-wan, for months now. He was one of the judges on Superband, season 1.
I think Nell kind of well-known in Korea among ordinary folks, their concerts are always hits Fun fact, I got to know them as an Infinite fan, because Nell is the favorite group of Infinite's leader Sunggyu. He wanted to become a singer inspired by them, pushed through hardships looking up to them, and got recognized by his own idols in the end. Jongwan from Nell worked with him on music and produced 3 of his solo albums. How cool is that!
The form that Jaehyun signed was he agreed to sell one of his organ 😂 look at the bill that they had to pay 10:26 This is the second comeback after Hweseung joined the group! Tbh, this Hot Potato represent them though, before Rooftop become a hit, they got less recognition and their album sale is kinda sad too 🥲 they also got Band of the year in 2019, just like in 12:03 haha I dont know if you aware, they recently released new songs early October for their Man on the moon repackaged. "Video Therapy" is a chefkiss😘👌🏼 and if you watch their recording log, the producer even said that they thanked seunghyub for making this kind of song because they didnt get the opportunity to make this in Korea. Thank you for the reaction ❤️
I'm really happy to see you discover Nell! They're such a great band, and have been around since forever. They are mostly famous for their more sentimental songs like Time spent walking through memories, The day before and Four times around the sun. They started out as an indie band in the early 2000's and got signed to Woolim in 2006. I think they left in 2016, and after that they started their own company called Space Bohemian. My favourite album of theirs is C but their whole discography is great. They have a very specific sound which you'll find out when you hear a couple of more songs from them. The singer, Kim Jong Wan has worked with a bunch of artists like Epik High and BoA, and the whole band has produced music for Infinite (including leader Sungkyu's first solo album) and Wanna One. Nell recently released an album called Moments in Between, and this was a pre-release for that album. They released two more music videos when the album dropped which I suggest you check out next, called 유희/U-Hee and '위로 危路/Beautiful Jeopardy. Both of them sound very different from Glow in the dark so they might show you the range of their musicality. Other songs I think you'll enjoy are Star Shell, Ocean of light, Run, and Vain Hope, as well as the live performance of Dream Catcher they've put up on their youtube channel, it's really cool.
Me hace muy feliz que descubrieras a Nell, una de las cosas que me regalo ser fan de INFINITE es conocer a Nell, me encantan sus canciones aunque me hacen sentir triste a veces también es reconfortante oírlos
Nell and Epik High were the presentation card from Woollim back the day, Woollim was an independent company, Nell and Epik High helped Infinite on singing an rapping since Woollim was emerging (I got this fact from an Inspirit) you'll find various interaction songs between Epik High and Nell, and Nell was named by Coldplay as one of their favorites bands, thank you for your reaction.
Hot Potato is one of my favorite N.Flying MVs. Like, I never get tired of watching people react to it. I was eventually going to request Nell too!!!! I'm so glad you've gotten introduced to them!!! I was so excited when I listened to Glow In the Dark, it's sooooo good!!! But wait 'til you also get to some of their slow stuff. It gets you right in the feels!
NELL are sooo iconic!! I've been listening to them for about 10 years at this point and I never get tired of their music. They have this timeless sound that make even a lot of their older songs still feel fresh now. I'll have periods of time where I don't really listen to them, then one of their songs will pop up in a playlist or as a recommendation somewhere and I'll just go straight back into the deep rabbit hole of obsession with their music. There are probably a very large amount of k-bands that would credit NELL as an inspiration for them.
TAKE THAT KBAND FLAG AND RUN WITH IT I'LL BE HERE FOR IT. God, I forgot how good the arrangement was in this version of Parting. Fingers crossed RBW lets Onewe have a comeback after Oneus and Hwasa. 🤞🏻 I have such a soft spot for Hot Potato because it was the song that introduced me to N.Flying and got me into them, even if I did kind of fall off a bit for a few of their subsequent releases. NELL THOUGH. NELL. One of the OG kbands. They've been around for like 20 years or something? They were signed with Woollim for the longest time and iirc are the reason Infinite's Sunggyu joined the company. They're definitely a band I need to take the time to explore more; I've only heard a few songs of theirs but I've loved everything I've heard from them.
N.Flying rocked the green tracksuit game before Squid Game made it mainstream 😎🤣 also, that scene at the end was Jaehyun basically sign a contract to selling his organs to pay for their debt 🤣🤣 its a dark humor about capitalism but thats also in corresponds with Squid Game theme too, so... u know... in a way... u can say NFlying inspire that movie lmao 🙈
NELL is an iconic band who've been around for 20 years and are absolute legends in the industry. Their most well-known song is probably "Time Spent Walking Through Memories" and it's been covered by countless K-pop idols (my personal fave rendition is by NCT's Doyoung on "King of Masked Singer"). They were under Woollim (Infinite, Lovelyz, Golden Child, Rocket Punch, Drippin') for a decade (2006-2016) and were influential on some of the eerie, symphonic, and electronic sounds that the label has utilized with their idol groups. NELL's frontman Kim Jongwan has written songs for Epik High, BoA, Taeyeon, Infinite's Kim Sung Kyu, Wanna One, and more. They're a must-know band!
Omg, your kband videos are my favorite! I’m rushing to patreon right after this for FTIsland. Nell is alternative rock and have been around for a long time now. You asked what company they are part of, they started their own independent label, Space Bohemian, in 2016. I highly recommend to continue to checkout their releases. Kim Jongwan, the singer, was also a judge on Super Band S1! And always here for N.Flying! I was wondering if you were going to understand Jaehyun selling his organs. Haha the whole MV is their dreams vs reality.
I’m really happy that you discovered more k-bands. K-bands are phenomenal. K-bands are exclusive. K-bands make always good musics. I’d like to recommend more k-bands just for your taste. 1. IZ. Very talented band with classic metal rock sound. They’re quite similar to Nell and FTisland. (Song recommendation: Eden) 2. Purple Rain. Another metal rock band with pretty modern sound. They’re musics are so unique. (Song recommendation: The king must die) 3. Bandage. Indie rock band from Play M entertainment. If you like indie rock stuff, you should definitely check out Bandage. (Song recommendation: Invisibles)
I was really surprised by the Nell song. I only know a couple of their other songs (one from 2008 and another one from this year) but those are a lot softer. I was surprised that it was in English, too. Then again I don't really know anything about them other than the fact that they've been around for quite a while.

All their Parting versions (there's 4 now, I think?) were modified very cleverly and artistically and only when you're familiar with it, will you easily identify the differences and I think that says a lot about their passion, genius musicality, and originality. Just like how they have 2 different sets of songs on each day of their consecutive concerts (Dekira info). They really are very passionate about the craft they deliver and I admire and adore them for that. WEVEs have been so blessed with their contents. Bless them.
ONEWE did have 2 different setlist for SWL#6 as the two sets had different concepts. Even if the same song appear on both setlist it was arranged differently to fit the concepts. (They had softer sound for Day 1 and went harder for Day 2.) Imagine the amount of work that require! The only song they didn't touch was AuRoRa (which was first revealed on the sets).
