You really should check out the original version with Saiki's vocals. It sounds great, I just love the instrumental version because the gaps give a very spooky feel. Thanks for the reaction!
Great comment. And also without the complex multi vocal layering it sounds like a totally different song.
Most instrumentals of songs with vocals are usually plain as it relies a lot on the vocals to fill up the song.
But Kanami’s composition is so layered and complex that even without the vocals, it’s a full song. It’s true for all their instrumental tracks for unseen world and the few other white room instrumental versions of their popular songs like Domination, Sense and Unleash.
Amazing.
Kanami's finger speed must be burning holes in that fret board.
I think Kanami treated herself to a couple shots of expresso before writing this one!!

Yeah this isn't actually an instrumental, hard to believe that someone can sing to that but Saiki is a beast in this song. You can find a video of her doing it live but it's only focused on Saiki. When I saw these white room sessions I finally realized Kanami just doesn't have a "solo section" in a song, she basically solos through entire songs it's just buried underneath vocals and other instruments until they drop out.
Put simply, THE BEST FRIGGIN BAND IN THE WORLD! You really do need to check out the full version with lyrics. ❤❤❤

GOVANI is a proper song. This white room instrumental version presents the original recording with the vocal tracks removed. There’s a lot of great stuff here, but it’s SAIKI and KOBATO’s vocals that tie together all the chaos.

What If I told you that tiny Japanese woman on the right is one of the greatest rock music composers to ever live.
Facts!!!
Giovanni is absolute insane. A frenetic riff and abrupt genre changes of prog-rock, jazz-rock, hard-rock that shake you like in a rollercoaster. The Maids put you to the test. It's sink or swim. This is the song (because it's not an instrumental) that was, for me, the most difficult to listen to because Saiki and Miku sing as fast as Mincho shreds. After several listens, even if you don't agree with me, I think it's a masterpiece of modern rock. Thanks man.
Giovanni, the instrumental version, is great but, I like the original version with Saiki's vocals - her singing is filled with attitude in this song. Thank you for another excellent reaction to BAND-MAID.
Giovanni is a work of rock art, if there ever was such a thing. Probably a good thing that you listened to the instrumental first, it'll make the album cut even more amazing!

The song is actually inspired by a novel by Kenji Miyazawa - "Night on the Galactic Railway". The main character's name is Giovanni. It's will blow your mind.

Giovanni!! 🔥I'll add my suggestion to hurry up and do the version with vocals while this is fresh in your mind. There's a version from one of their livestreams, or just check out the studio track. I didn't see this instrumental version until after I fell in love with the regular version and I could hear so much that I didn't hear in the original because, as you'll see, there is so much awesomeness happening that your mind blows up. This is one of their most progressive and just insanely good songs.🔥
What’s wild is the intricacies you have in “Giovanni” are in almost every Band Maid song. You have to hear them as instrumentals to appreciate it.
I’m old and grew up putting the needle back on the track to hear Rush songs over and over. “Giovanni” brings back that nostalgia. As if I’m 14 again and saying to myself, “I don’t understand what this is, but this band is the best. So I’m gonna keep listening until I understand.”

Part of the reason the breakdown sounds a bit odd is that this song is origionally a song with singing! Which sounds very different- but equally great. But its very busy and hard to parse without hearing this instrumental version as well! Hope you check out the OG song too.
