Wonderful wedding. Wishing both bride and groom 100 years of happiness! Wedding is not “traditional” in it’s purest form. Traditional elements that were missing were the betel leaves (trầu) and areca nuts (cau). Above all else these two elements are the most important, as it is the bride family’s affirmation of the acceptance of the groom and the wedding can go ahead. If these elements were there then the cinematography did not highlight it’s importance and I retract my comments above. Tutus on the groom and grooms men, ladder up to receive the bride, lion dance and fireworks at a traditional Viet wedding are a first for me. These are not traditional elements at all and I was beginning to question if I was watching a Viet wedding or a Viet grand opening ceremony. These are my observations of the posted video only, it is not a criticism of how you wanted your most memorable day to be. And it is such a relief to see a Viet bride getting married to a Viet groom for once, all the other videos are of a Viet bride getting married to a Western groom. And for the record I am Vietnamese.
It looks like a beautiful wedding nonetheless. You can tell that a lot of traditions have been let go since that is how emerging culture will be. You get a pot of blending cultures. I value this. Downside is that you can tell that is very Americanized. The bride and groom most likely may not preserve their language since there was hardly any vietnamese used. The vows also in English. Bride and groom, wish you a lot of happiness. :)
I like the way they combine traditional details of the ceremony with modern things.
I love this.
Beautiful. I am vietnamese and this is just an example of all the amazing vietnamese tea ceremonies and weddings. So fun!
