Your bass of the kaleidoscope remix. maybe i mean the percussive and progressive leads, but those would be very nice!!!! and besides that the subandrio basses (which are close to the lead i guess)
6:35 Wow, what a great tutorial!! Thank you very much for mentioning us 🙏 We haven't been strictly Progressive House for quite some time, but still very cool to see us being featured 😎🫶
My pleasure! Been a fan of your label for years. Thanks for the comment! Also, adding Melodic Techno & Progressive House was too much to fit in the title properly 😅
i have been watching producer masterclass videos for over 15 years. i have unfortunatley lost my drive to make my own music, but still love to watch and listen. this video is THE BEST Bassline Video i have EVER come across.. this knowledge and especially really easy to pull off sounds with just built in plug ins is a game changer and outstanding! Thanks so much for sharing your amazing wisdom, it really triggers me to install ableton again and mess around with a few sounds .. ;) cheers and thank you for your incredible content
Very useful information. Thank you. But I would like to know more about the Mango Alley bass line. Will you have a video where you record the bass, drums and atmosphere? preferably a short video of 30-40 minutes))
Glad you enjoyed! I do some other videos that go over basslines in more detail. Beyond that, I will keep doing these types of videos so just make sure to keep checking back to the channel, or turn notifications on :)
Thanks! It's basically the exact same thing. You just get a bit more control with the midside EQ. I don't know if there is any different in linear phase or anything, but I don't think so.
Thanks! Yep. With the mid side EQ? I'm taking out the low end in the stereo image. So since I put unison on, it made the mono signal into a stereo signal, and you don't usually want stereo in your low end, so I've filtered out the low end of the STEREO image of the sound, thus removing the stereo image in the lows but allowing it to remain in the higher end of the sound.
@@Dowden_Official Thanks for sharing more info about removing low-end in the stereo image. But I added the wrong timestamp for my original question - I meant 7:27 where you add 2 filter envelopes. Could you share more info on what you're doing with the 2 envelopes, and how they interact? Having a hard time conceptualizing this
@@henryxiao_ Ahh, I understand. Okay, so basically, the first env (env 2) is opening it up like a usual pluck, opens fast, and closes around 300-400ms, so it creates a pluck. Env 3 is doing the same thing but faster, so you get a pluck from env 2, but also a tiny quick little extra pluck at the top, like it's opening the very top of the filter for a shorter time which just adds a bit of punchiness. So if env 2 is opening it up 50% for 400ms, env 3 is opening it up to 60% for only 100ms out of the 400ms. It's not opening it up for 500, but just opening it at the same time and for 100ms out of the 400ms, it's opening it an extra 10% before dropping it back down to 50%. Does that make sense?
I see, when there's 2 envelopes on the filter, are they simply combined? Do you need 2 separate filters because the resulting shape cannot be achieved with a single filter envelope?
@@henryxiao_ It could be achieved with a single envelope, but you'd need to adjust the envelope as such, and wavetable doesn't have that extra point. you could do that easily in Serum for example because you could just add another node to the envelope or LFO which could control this.
Big shout out to this channel! Just subbed. Have demos that I’ve been dragging to submit (to a few labels mentioned here)- and while I work in Reason Studios, the tutorial here translates really well. I think I’ve been over processing and hugging my bass tones to death and by stripping things to self modulated wave table it really makes my tracks sound better.
This is such a great video, thanks bro! Makes me wish I had ableton and wavetable :( trying to recreate these sounds with other vst's and not having great luck.
Great as usual. Short question. Is it better for the mono frequencies to use your MS Eq or the mono function in the Utility? That’s the way I do it normally.
I usually use a better reverb than the stock, tbh! I didn't even notice (recently switched over to Mac and all my default settings are back to default - will go fix this, thanks for the heads up)
Oh! I do have another video about leads where I use ANA2. Check my channel! But yeah sure :) I am considering using Vital to showcase some stuff since it's free.
One thing I noticed that you didnt cover was the relationship to the kick. All these basses are super low. And they're also playing at the same time as the kick? Thought that was a no no?
Good point! I used a strong sidechain compressor on the main group. It's totally fine to play bass notes same time as compressor, as long as they are being cut out when the kick is playing. Either with automation, EQ, not overlapping the sub notes, or sidechain, etc.
The way you are carrying and categorizing everything about underground deep progressive, if you once become a top 5 dj/producer make sure to make a book out of it. It's too much technical and know how information, that even most of producers at the top aren't aware of all the theory of their sounds.
Which artists bass sound design should I cover next? Maybe I'll do 10 basses from 10 artists! Comment below :)
Emanuel Satie , Rampa and roy rosenfeld , thank for the video dowden !

What are your thoughts on using the utility plug-in to mono the base below a certain frequency versus mid/side EQ?
Great video by the way

Mind blown with one was always wondering about creative deep bass lines, thanks dude and you have new patreon sub!
Totally rad Dowden! 😯😯😯😯🤯🤯🤯🤯😎😎😎😎👍👍👍👍
All i needed :)
Thank you very much for this video as i struggle with basslines much appreciated
Glad it helped!
Brilliant video - A lot of work must've gone into it. I noticed in the frozen tracks saying pigments. Did you make these in pigments too?
Thanks! It does take quite a bit of work. I use pigments a lot :) Powerful synth!

Nice one dude.. it's there any chance of automate what's happening at the matrix? I can't find how to
Thanks! And not that I know of, unfortunately!

Thanks! Just try to pay attention to what I am saying and the names of the different tools. It should be on every similar synth. :)
Thanks man, lots of these labels are new to me: I'll go check 'em out ASAP.
Definitely all great labels!
Wow! Thank you so much. 🙌
Of course :)

great stuff, thanks Dowden!
You're welcome!
love ur work, could you ever do a breakdown of Rose Ringed's work? His stuff is amazing as well :)
