The one thing that people don't talk about with vintage lenses is the so called 3D pop. Modern lens are complex in their optical build, there's much more glass used to combat optical flaws. Compared to certain vintage lens they lack the 3D pop that comes specifically because of those optical aberrations. If you want to see how that happens just have a look at the bokeh of the helios or the bokeh of the Pancolar - it's busy right? But that applies to all layers in the depth of field map, thus there's a clear distinction between them, thus the brain sees more depth, more 3D pop :) Please make a video having that in mind, I think it's going to be very interesting. My recommended vintage lens for this are: helios 44 2, Carl Zeiss Jena Pancolar f1.4 / or the 1.8 red ( the 1.4 can be very expensive), Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon 35mm f2.4 ( red version), helios 40 85mm f1.5 if you can afford it, difficult to film with but if you need a tele it has a very nice mood.

well done video - subbed - looking forward to seeing what else you create 🙂 - but vintage lenses are a dangerous path haha. If you like Helios, you should look at Lomos...

I love vintage glass, but theres defo a time and a place for them. Theres a reason why the vintage Leica lenses are still so much more expensive than many modern "better quality" lenses

Vintage glass is like the grandpa of camera lenses - it may not be as fast or sharp as the youngsters, but it's got that classic style and wisdom!
