    Sorry everyone! TH-cam glitched out and messed up the premiere, removing the live chat... Please post any questions down here!

    Excellent work, brother. The most impressive part was how you managed to play all those instruments while simultaneously moving those two faders up and down. Not only is this a stereo mic review, but also a you can perform audio-related functions in stereo as an engineer and musician. :)

    One of the best reviews I've seen on TH-cam, proper demonstrations and decent musicianship. The resulting track sounded fantastic.

    Blown away by the sonic clarity of the final song. Glad I stuck with the entire video. My old Fostex speakers were very happy. :o)

    Interesting review that I became curious about seeing Josh Turner Guitar use it a bit. I became Vanguard Audio Labs V44S gen II mic curious, but I have to remark that I really enjoyed your song. It was very much my cup of tea. It is also inspiring to see more and more kids become M.I. (multi-instrumentalists). In my opinion, it is a much more natural state to be, and it also creates less reliance on others allowing one to create decent demos faster.

    Seriously, the best microphone review I have ever seen. Thank you for taking the time to do this.

    I just saw this mic at NAMM 22 but it would have been impossible to get a demo like this. Thanks @MillSounds! The mic sounds really good and the blending gives you so much versatility and lots of options.

    Hey Derek and Matt! Joe here. So, for MS recording with the V44s... if I have an interface that has only two XLR inputs, can I just take the top and bottom capsule outputs from the splitter box to two separate tracks in my DAW and then copy and paste whichever track is the side mic to a third track and reverse the phase on the third track in the DAW? The same way I would normally do it with a center mic and a figure 8 side mic?

    • @juddlevison9653
      @juddlevison9653 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely, that's what's normally done, as you said. The splitter box just gives you that third phase-reversed output as an option if you have the input channels.

    • @MillSounds
      @MillSounds  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's usually how I do it if I don't want to burn a channel during tracking. Sometimes when you're doing location work and have enough channels to spare, it's nice to hear the M/S signal decoded in real time to help with placement. You have choices here, which is the nice part!

    • @derek-vanguardaudiolabs9779
      @derek-vanguardaudiolabs9779 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      that's the general way to do it. The third output is most useful, I think, for real-time zero-latency monitoring in M/S.

    Hello. Your opinion - does it make sense to use V44 to record vocals, or is it better to use V4?

    • @MillSounds
      @MillSounds  ปีที่แล้ว

      There's no difference between using a mono V4 or just one channel of the V44s, they're exactly the same. As you saw in the video, you can do some unique things utilizing both channels on a source. I guess it just depends on how often you need to record in stereo. If you need a stereo mic, it's an amazing deal and can be used as a single microphone quite easily!

      @@Devinop Haha, sorry I misread! I’ve got a pair of V4’s and the stereo V4, so I obviously like them. Amazing on acoustic instruments, nice and warm/natural.
