      Hi Jacklyn,
      I am happy that you and your husband were able to make it work. I really appreciate your feedback and hope you enjoy your awning for many years to come. Keep in touch if you have any questions or concerns.
      Take care :)

    When I try to sinc my motor to the wind sensor I don’t get the jerk I’m suppose to get. How long am I suppose to hold the button down. I kept it down till it went off.

    Thank you for your quick reply. My partner and I are unable to budge the outer casing. We understand how replace the batteries, we just can't get the sliding cover off. We are getting on a bit and not as manualy strong as we once were. Thanks.

      SUCCESS.......I gave the cover a few gentle taps on the side with a small hammer and the slide started too move. I have replaced the batteries with new ones, however the awning is still putting itself away after about 20 mins.. Have you got any other ideas? Thank you so much for your help.

      Janis Holmes I’m happy to hear you were able to get it opened. If it’s doing that then try programming the wind sensor to your motor again. If the connection between the Motor and Wind Sensor is lost, then the motor will retract the awning in. To do this you will need to remove the wind sensor and open it up just like you would to change the batteries. Once you have it opened up, take your remote control and tuen it over and press the small button on the back and hold it until your motor jogs and then release it. Then press the small button on your wind sensor (it’s just to the right side of your batteries) and hold it until your motor jogs. This will pair your wind sensor with your motor and the motor should only retract the awning in in case it detects wind. Good luck.

    You say to test by moving the awning up and down by a foot, but I would have retracted mine way before winds ever got up to that kind of speed.

      Hi Mr H, thank you for your comment.
      Most retractable awning brands can handle winds up to 10 or 15 mph comfortably. Shaking the wind sensor up and down about a foot is similar to those type of winds, so it’s good to test your somfy wind sensor to make sure it retracts your retractable awning in just before the winds get worse.
      I hope this helps. Generally, it’s best to always retract awning in as winds pick up.

    I have followed these direction 10 times or more. The awning "jogs" for both the remote and sensor but still winds back up after 30 minutes or so. I put new lithium batteries into the new sensor in case the batteries that came with the sensor were old or weak.

      Hi Benjamin, thank you for your comment. Since you have replaced the batteries that eliminates one possible cause for the problem. What I would recommend you try, if you haven’t already, is to reset your motor and set new limits. Once you reset your motor and set new limits then synchronize the wind sensor with the motor. You can email me at bek@bekth.com or call/text me at 704-310-0594 and I will help you along as best as I am able to. Good luck.

    Installing new batteries correctly still don’t see a light turn on the circuitboard telling me I have power what could cause this

    Our awning retracts one hour after it is extended even on a calm day. What should I Doi have and RTS 1 remote and the wind sensor in this video.

      Hi Jim, thank you for reaching out.
      Have you successfully synced your wind sensor with your somfy motor? Sometime if the wind sensor is not successfully synced with the somfy motor the motor will retract back in thinking that there is wind, but really it’s just a poor connection.
      I look forward to hearing back from you.
      Take care,

    I have changed the batteries, completed the jog test on both remote and sensor, re-installed the sensor but when I shake it up and down nothing happens. the sensor is set to #2. In addition when I retract the awning manually using the remote due to windy conditions, some time later it extends out again on it´s own, therefore becoming dangerous. Can´t find anything which deals with this type of problem...

    Having trouble getting the cover off of the windsensor We don't want to break it as it is ten years old. Please have you any suggestions on how to get the cover off?

      Slide the Case in the direction indicated by the arrows on the wind sensor. This will allow you to take it off the mounting plate. You will put it back the same way, just sliding to the opposite side. To replace the batteries, you can use a small screw driver or similar to pry the sensor out of it's housing and access the batteries. I hope this helps.

    i have replaced the batteries in the remote AND the sensor and the awning continues to retract after about 30 minutes. what do I do to fix this issue

      Hi Darcy,
      Thank you for your comment. After you replaced the batteries in the wind sensor, have you tried synchronizing the wind sensor with the motor? It is possible that the motor might be signaled to retract in due to lost connection with the wind sensor. This can occur if the batteries went bad on the sensor and the connection was lost.
      I would recommend that you extend the awning all the way out, then remove the wind sensor (as if you were replacing batteries). Once you have the wind sensor opened press and hold the button (on the back of the remote) until the motor jogs, then press and hold the little red button on the wind sensor (right next to the batteries) until the motor jogs. When you complete the synchronization return the wind sensor into it’s housing and shake the awning, closest to the wind sensor, up and down consistently until the wind sensor activates the motor to retract in.
      I hope this helps. Please try it and let me know if you need more help.
      Note: it is very easy to install new batteries on the wind sensor the wrong way. This can also cause the connection to be lost. Please double check that your batteries in the wind sensor are facing the correct way .. the + and -
      Good luck.

    What size batteries in the wind sensor? If batteries get low could it cause wind sensor to activate with little wind?

    • @awninguniversity2015
      @awninguniversity2015  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Charles!
      I'm just now seeing your comment and I hope this will help. The Somfy Wind Sensor uses 2 AAA batteries. If your batteries are dead in the Wind Sensor then there is a high chance that your motor will retract the awning in, due to the link between the Wind Sensor and the Motor being lost. This is a built in safety mechanism as a result of the synchronization being lost. I am positive that the same will happen if your batteries are very low and not able to provide good enough link between the two.
      If your Wind Sensor is activating with little wind I would advise you to check the sensitivity settings on your Wind Sensor. You can do this before or after you replace your batteries.
      Good luck.

    Is there a way for the wind sensor to tell that motor that the winds have subsided so that the blinds can be back on again ?

    • @The-Coaster-Craze
      @The-Coaster-Craze ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, as the sensor moves based on movement. Not actual weather.

    My awning will only stay out 15 to 20 minutes, even with no wind.

      It’s usually the batteries just need replaced. You also have to make sure the circle magnet on the mount is touching the frame.
      It’s been a month and I see they haven’t answered you. That will fix 99% of the issues.
      I’m the 1% where it’s not working. I have been selling and installing about 20yrs now.
      If that doesn’t work for you, reset the entire awning 2/10/2 with the plug. You will have to reset the limits before you can reprogram the wind sensor back in.
      But, yeah two AAA batteries should work for you. Make sure you look at the direction of the batteries though. It doesn’t just go by the springs inside the wind sensor.

    Can one sensor control multiple awnings, if say, you want 2-3 awnings to act as one and have them linked on the same channel on remote?

    • @awninguniversity2015
      @awninguniversity2015  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Chris, thank you for your question.
      Yes, 1 remote control is able to power multiple awnings. Actually, there are more than one way of controlling multiple awnings with a single Somfy control unit.
      Situo 5 RTS Remote Control (can control between 1 and 4 motors)
      **this is what you need here
      There are Remote Controls that can control between 1 and 16 motors (mostly used on patio enclosures with). Then there is the Wall Switch, and a MyLink App, and a few others. Check out the link bellow.
