Had a Model Y for 2 years and done 30k miles. Won’t have another. In my opinion it’s designed for wide straight roads in the USA. The wipers are a nightmare. The adaptive cruise is hopeless to be honest, keeps emergency braking if it sees another vehicle on the other side of the road or a vehicle in a lay-by. Squeaks and rattles. B pillar camera error messages if the sun shines on one. B pillar camera errors when you drive in the dark. I get 3.1 to 3.4 m/kwh no matter how carefully I drive. Suspension is very firm and my family tell me the rear seats are not a nice place to be on a long journey. The materials and build quality are not a £50 plus car. Also the insurance will scare your bank account. Tesla superchargers are great though. At least I only have 1 year left on the lease.
Yep, they can buy Jaguar or some other chinese brand with their dubious [forced] labour practises but the ever aloof BBC tells them Elon = bad so they will repeat the same mantra. Monkey see, monkey do.
another top class production Nobby. Well done! And delighted that you didn't mention "Juniper" once from a click bait perspective..... Unlike all those Yankee Doodler channels who keep throwing out sh1te content every 20mins with no new info relating to "2025 Modely Y".... On a separate note, and for a break from filming around Baldoyle / Howth etc. How about some filming out Skerries way, just for a change of scenery? I'll even buy you lunch ;) Best wishes and keep up the great work. Best Car channel out there.!
Just because of constant improvements via OTA updates and the comfortable way to operate it leaves no choice, but MY for me. Not to mention the SuperCharger system and price. Bought mine for hardly 40k.
Thank you for another informative and well produced review. The M Y would be perfect for us in terms of size and there are great lease deals at the moment. The ride ruins it for me. A family car doesn't need to handle like a race car but it does need to ride well.
@Mancozeb100 It costs around 1070,- € in Germany for all 4 suspensions and alignment. I recommend this conversion to every Model 3 (not Highland) and Model Y owner. Before the conversion I almost regretted my purchase and was very dissatisfied. Now I am happy. It's not a Mercedes with air suspension, it's still very sporty for my liking, but it's comfortable and you don't get shaken up and you're not afraid to drive over a manhole cover.
Can’t help but agree - myself and my Mrs are perfect customers for Tesla 3 & Y, but neither of us would consider one for a single second, on personal principle. there’s a very obvious image problem to owning a Tesla at the moment. The fact that they don’t want their own cars back is a huge limitation too.
Nobby, can you charge the long range to 100% every day, cause if not, then the effective range is always going to be 80%.....or 480 kilometers As a sales rep, I need maximum range 5 days a week, rather than 80% range.
The 100% thing is only if you’re not actually using it and leaving a battery at 100% sitting there. If you’re gonna use it every day, just charge it to whatever you need.
@ the only way of truly knowing is by going into the settings on individual cars. The US ones are Panasonic. Some of the German ones have turned out to be BYD Blade, some LFP (but not Blade/BYD) and others have been NMC. Doesn’t seem to be a one answer solution to the question I’m afraid!
That’s one reason I’m not keen on Tesla. They tend to obfuscate things like the battery size and type. Every other make seem to be up front about it. Odd. Oh, and if the new MY does away with the stalks, will that tank like the new M3. I hated it when I test drove an M3.
Great perspective review Mark. There is all sorts of thoughts happening when people look at owning any car. They may well feel the Elon effect is not for them etc. What cannot ever be taken away from Tesla is that they do make the most efficient electric cars. Not necessarily the best looking, not necessarily the best interiors or comfort. I mean take a look at the interior of a Genesis GV70 yo see what can be achieved. But the American market love Tesla and then they did believe enough to spend a fortune on charging stations. If the British government believed to the same level we would have charging stations everywhere. No this and previous government only Ly want to punish manufacturers by fining them because people do not want to buy electric cars. What on earth is that about. They (government) want this to happen without doing anything about it.
it depends on how long trump and musk remain friends...most people think trump will get sick of him eventually and when the bromance ends so will musk...

Agree... but you know what Elon would say to you don't you?....''GFY!''😑
I found entertaining people saying they won't buy tesla because they don't like Elon, then, they buy VW....

My word Mark you're smashing out the content!! Solid effort, and as always a great review!
Great video as usual Nobby.
If the Juniper has same improvements as the Highland has to suspension it'll be hard to beat
I have a Tesla Model Y RWD for about a year- absolutely love it

I simply installed the TEIN suspension. Now, I'm really happy with my MY LR RWD.
@alexandermoor5340 Glad you found a solution
@@alexandermoor5340Was that expensive, Alex?

@ Thanks, that’s good to know - a couple of friends have Ys and might be interested in following up on that option 👍
my gf bought the bought the y and i love her car especially the fsd. i still drive a old honda crv, i'm itching to get a tesla next.

Charge to 100% every day if your using it every day. Don’t charge to 100% and leave it sitting there for days on end.

They feel incredibly harsh in pothole-ridden colder cities like Chicago. Terrible comfort.

My is in Italian. 😂
I think TH-cam have turned auto dubbing on for different markets but it should know you’re not looking for Italian….
Wonder does Elon really care now ?? - his big dosh is in his NASA / Govt SpaceX contracts.
Probably the best at the electric part of EV. Not the best at the car part.
Do you still make a few quid even though you now have the Euro?😉
Not for me Nobby, Musk has enough money methinks
If you dont take best for media hate hype... u unsmart )) and just pay more.
@tvguide4khv in English ?
All I can say is Nope! 3 reasons, 1 to expensive to buy, 2 too expensive to insure and I also detest the overall look both inside and out.
yeah, let's support the poor CEOs of BMW, VW and Mercedes…
@@erdnussflip3439 or how about we support none of them?
Why is this in german Nobby.....
Was driving me crazy. Thought it was just me.
TH-cam have started using AI to translate into different markets…. Have you a VPN on?! Am I talking in a German dubbed voice or what?!
