The diplomatic District of the 16th Arrondissement of Paris Honored India through Indian Conservatory of Paris curated by the founders Bhavana Pradyumna and Pradyumna Kandadai
In the historic first, The Townhall of the 16th arrondissement of Paris honored India during the Olympics and Paralympics through their Indian Conservatory of Paris (ICParis). As part of these cultural festivities, ICParis played a pivotal role by presenting 24 days of captivating performances, featuring 76 unique shows by over 180 talented artists, engaging audiences for a total of 62.5 hours.
Paris, renowned for its rich cultural heritage, transformed into a global playground during the Olympics and Paralympics. The city established up to 25 Fan-Zones where visitors enjoyed sports, cultural events, communal celebrations, snacks, drinks, and games on large screens. Among the select associations chosen to curate these events, ICParis was honored to represent the city, bringing the essence of Indian classical and folk arts to the forefront.
ICParis hosted events at the Fan-Zone located in the picturesque Parc Sainte-Périne in the 16th arrondissement, near the River Seine and close to the Eiffel Tower viewpoint, Trocadero. From July 26 to August 10 during the Olympics, and from August 30 to September 8 during the Paralympics, ICParis presented more than 80 events featuring artists from India, the USA, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands and France.
This five-week cultural extravaganza included enchanting performances of classical and folk music, mesmerizing dances, and the serene combination of Raga & Yoga. Additionally, there were engaging workshops in Yoga, traditional Indian games and sports, storytelling from Panchatantra, Rangoli art, Indian painting forms, and Mehendi design.
The preparation for these performances was meticulous, with support from Paris 16 and the Indian Embassy, reflecting the deep-rooted friendship between India and France. Since its inception in 2015, ICParis aimed to promote unity by celebrating diversity. This historic moment for India and Indian arts was a testament to the power of cultural heritage and international collaboration.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated ICParis on this prestigious occasion, acknowledging the significant cultural exchange and the celebration of Indian heritage on a global stage.
We invited everyone to witness this grand celebration of tradition and excellence at Parc Sainte-Périne, where Bhavana Pradyumna and her dynamic team curated programs that inspired and captivated.
