      Glad to help. We bought new levelers and had to change the chocks. We purchased X Chocks recently. These add stability to remove the rocking. th-cam.com/video/ifTC1T9t_f0/w-d-xo.html. Between the chocks and the front stabilizer, both make a big difference.

    Great ideas and very informative video. Thanks for moving the camera around to get the close up shots so we could actually see how the devices work. We have the screw type king pin stabilizer, but not the inside wheel chocks. The king pin stabilizer helps a lot, but we may need to try something for the wheels to improve it even further. I really enjoy all your videos.

    Man... The wheel stabilizers where awesome. We just sold our house to move into a 5'er. I bought some screw type wheel chocks. When I saw you set yours, I immediately told the wife we are getting some. Those things look easy to set. I have also been looking at the king pin stand. Sounds like it really does the job intended.

    I’ve had JT Strong Arms on a 40’ 5th wheel that will take all the sway and bounce out of your camper and they stay right on your camper going down the road so you don’t sacrifice any storage space! As far as the wheel chocks I don’t think they help with stability but would help from rolling as long as you not on 2 different height blocks. Great video run down

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks much. The Strong Arms are nice units. The chocks put positive pressure and work. But, I would have an issue occasionally if I put pads under the tires on one side to level. I found these X Chocks th-cam.com/video/ifTC1T9t_f0/w-d-xo.html. These things are the trick.

    Nice video sir, however, if one wants to permanently stabilize your 5th wheel, you need to buy a Steadyfast system. It will take 95% of the shake/wobble,etc. out of your trailer. I installed one on my 5er and the difference is amazing. Once installed, it takes 45 seconds to set up, no hauling wheel chocks, king pins out, etc. Also, no need the store those extra pieces either. Check it out, you will not be disappointed.

    I would think that the smaller the RV the more it will shake and the more you would need that kingpin stabilizer. I’m getting one for my 5th wheel when it arrives.

    • @iLoveRVlife

      Could be. There’s little to know support up front. Does a good job keeping the movement in check.

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did on the Gateway. That midsized 5th wheel moved a bunch. The Montana has 6 point hydraulic leveling and the heavy duty I-frame and has almost zero movement.

  • @dennistrook1020

    Is there an attachment to convert the king pin to a gooseneck ball? I need the height of this tripod but I have an Anderson aluminum hitch that has a ball connection.

    What is the difference other than a little time on the wheel stabilizer in this video and the x chock video? Which is better in your opinion?

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really depends on the stabilizer and frame in your 5th wheel. If you don’t have a I-frame or hydraulic stabilizers, suggest a kingpin tripod. It will take out the bounce.

    • @iLoveRVlife

      Maybe some. With the washer, you'll feel the vibration in the frame.

    We have an Anderson Gooseneck hitch that uses a ball funnel on the 5th wheel. do you know if this company makes a stabilizer that would have a ball on the top or some sort of adapter that would work with the funnel?

  • @mikemiller9119

    Unfortunately the wheel chocks won’t work if you’re using leveling blocks under the tires.

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      True Mike. They come with a chock to stabilize the levelers. I also use a set of the Harbor Freight large rubber chocks on the other side for an extra safety measure. I'll also have a video this Saturday on chocks you may find interesting.

    How do they compare to the xchocks for stability? Xchocks are a pain to get in

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use both the xchocks and pin stabilizer if we’re going to be somewhere for a couple weeks or more. Usually add the xchocks before we run the slides out. Saves the knees. We don’t have hydraulic stablilizers, just electric jack in front and back. Using both stops all the wiggle especially when someone is running up and down the steps to the bed or bathroom.

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Pull the leg adjustment levers to the top and press against the legs. Should hear a light pop when the latching gear releases then the legs can be retracted.

    Hello, RV newbie here. How much of a “no no” is it to leave your 5th wheel hooked to the tow vehicle while camping? While using front and rear stabilizing jacks that are OEM to the 5th wheel camper? Does this add to stability if you don’t intend to use your tow vehicle to go anywhere?

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Lucas. It doesn’t hurt. We do this often for overnights to make a quick exit the next day. Just remember to unplug from the truck so you don’t run the truck battery down.

    • @terrymoses7548
      @terrymoses7548 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@iLoveRVlife I've heard that having your RV plugged into the truck while on shore power can damage the truck charging system. I always unplug the truck before plugging into shore power, or turning on the generator.

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Terry. There is some 12V DC back feed that can come from the the 7 point plug. I’ve never done this. May depend more on the vehicle and the potential of over charging. On the other hand, don’t pull in for an overnight where’s there’s no shore power and leave the 7 point plug attached. You may wake up the next morning with a dead truck battery.

    Only problem I can find with the wheel chocks... If your wheels aren't on the ground they won't work.

I bought my first 5th wheel and have the auto leveler I also have the x-chock for the tires so if I get the king pin stabilizer it will take some more movement out.
