We lived in HR and moved away 2 years ago. The King Soopers you drove by was where I shopped. If you had taken a right at that light and gone a mile south, you would have driven by our old home in the Indigo Hills subdivision. My oldest daughter worked at the Canes that you mentioned. HR is a great area. I love where I am now, but am happy for the 9 years we lived there. Thanks for posting this as it made me happy to see it.
If HR is one of the nicest areas of Denver then that is pretty sad. HR looks good on the surface but if you spend some time there you find out it isn't that great. Well it does have a lot of new shopping, that's a plus. There is a lot of traffic, the streets can be very busy. Many of the neighborhoods are very crowded with houses close together.
You are spoiled. I did not see any young men from a certain culture in hoodies shooting at people and and robbing stores. I too am from a nice neighborhood. "Nice" is relative. If you are surrounded by the two cultures that attend Stanford and Yale, then you live in a relatively safe and nice area. No block parties all night every night because people actually go to school and have careers.

I lived in Colorado, SF, Arizona and California for my career and if you think houses are too close, visit other places considered suburbs
