- Río de Janeiro! We made it to the most beautiful city in the world and we are here to see one of the most iconic statues on the planet. Cristo Redentor or Christ the Redeemer. He stands atop one of the cone shaped hills with the sprawling city below. A welcoming figure for everyone in the city.
But we have some major fears around traveling here in Rio. Despite feeling a bit on edge we wander the tourist attractions and get a better feel for what Rio has to offer. We are impressed! Can’t wait to show you all of our Rio highlights!

In the 60s and 70s my aunt and uncle travelled all over the world and Rio was hands down their favorite place in the world. Enjoy.

WOW your Rio visit is more sensational then mine in 2016. Glad you knew to get to a safe place during the evening. I sailed from New York to Rio on the Ocean Liner Queen Mary 2. It was epic to arrive on the ship in January just before toe Olympics. I made it to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain and I visited the Cathedral you photographed. You folks are really have an extraordinary life!

Rio is so beautiful! You will always have crowds at those iconic places but it is worth it to see them. Thank you for the up close view of Rio 🥰
Glad to hear you feel safe there -- honestly, doesn't sound too different from Vancouver's downtown Eastside -- probably less homeless there.
Loved the tiled stairs too, although I have a tough time in crowds. That's one thing that's easier for a couple cuz a single person seems to more easily be "invisible". Thanks for sharing Rio, can't wait for more!

I've seen some videos of tourists doing the hiking up to the Christ The Redeemer, and it seems to be a really nice hiking. I don't know how safe it is, but looks normal. Also Rio has a "touristic favela", the guy from the channel Rio4fun is a touristic guide that shows foreigners this favela, I've seen many foreigners going there with him, even a Korean woman doing IRL livestream on Twitch, but without a guide it is not a good thing to do, and probably you guys are more into the nature and historical places of Rio, just saying this info if you guys are interested, and to warn about not going there alone without a brazilian guide. I hope you guys be safe.

As for the touristic favela, that's really interesting! We're definitely more into exploring nature and historical sites, but it's good to know about different options. I can tell you guys have been aaway from the USA too long when you complain $20 for 1 day of doggie daycare, that's not expensive at all. Just going to McDonald's can cost $20 for one person now...not really exaggerating.
