Hamlet was my home until 1987, while I lived here I explored the area where the roundhouse and old yard was (The Williams Yard) later to become the division's Maintenance of Way shop. I was privileged to see Hamlet's big hook parked here while they still recovered their wrecks themselves. The other rare event was in the 80's when Ross Roland's Chessie 614 Safety Express made its stop over in Hamlet. This was my first mainline steam engine that I had privilege to witness. I'm thoroughly enjoying your presentations and your professional methods of producing them.
I'm really impressed by the professional tone and voice for the comments, as well as by the quality of the images and choice of settings. Wow ! I'm looking forward seeing a cab ride vid, with comments like these ones…
Danny I always watch your videos around bed time. Somehow randomly I stumbled upon this one. Bennett Levin used to be the head of the city department in Philly I used to work for. And a long time ago my father told me he owned a train car. Simply amazed that you captured this.
Another excellent video. If you could narrate the entire CSX A-Line, not to mention the CSX S-line from where ever it originates south of Hamlet,NC all the way to Richmond,VA. You have that voice and enthusiasm that this hobby needs. But it is a nitch hobby.
Thanks for mentioning Tallahassee, in your commentary, yes there is more clay.......U forgot about on the east of town.....going out 90, and there is alot of Kutzo on the south side of the B yard, Roberts Ave.
If you want to find cuts but don't want to head as far north as Salisbury (Or North Georgia, upstate SC, etc.) there is a 35 ft. cut through red clay on the Heart of Georgia in Americus, GA. Also, on the ex-CofG mainline from Macon to Atlanta, right after a train leaves Brosnan Yard in Macon, GA., it has to negotiate a series of curved rock cuts. It is more difficult to get a train on this line then say the Atlanta South End, but it does feature the Roadrailer, which recently, has been (at least on Sundays) been making it through Macon around noon. This does change, but I see them in Cordele anywhere from 11:30-3:30 on Sundays and Mondays,
Sadly, the Ashville District via the famous Old Fort Loops was taken was recently taken out of service. It is very unlikely it will ever see service again
Glad you could make it to Hamlet Danny. It is by far my favorite location to film trains! Did you see the yard by chance? It is surprisingly visible from the road compared to the other major classification yards, runs parallel to Hwy 117 and if you keep a low profile you can view the locomotive shops from the parking lot .
Distant Signal Unfortunately the majority of the right of way leading into the yard from the south is surrounded by trees with a few openings, so going in the winter would give you a better view. You can see everything but the hump pretty much, in respect to the numerous obstructions along the right of way. Thankfully it is a lot more visible than its Norfolk Southern counterpart in Linwood, NC.
Raillashup Productions Really? I looked up that engine on a couple of photo sites and both had it listed as an ACe. Oh well. Serves me right for including this kind of minutiae anyway. These engine model numbers are out of my league.
Is there a definitive reference for a sometime railfan to use when attempting to identify locomotives? PS: That green switch engine a the end of the video really caught my attention. I had a neighbor when I was a pee-wee who was an engineer ( I think he was called a hostler, not an engineer but I'm not sure about that.) in the L&N Port Yard on the shore of Pensacola Bay in Pensacola, FL. The port handled Chilean nitrate ships and ships that brought mahogany logs onto the port and pine tree stumps for Newport Industries in the production of turpentine. While the nitrate and the stumps moved on trains, the mahogany logs were dumped over the side of the ship and floated behind a harbor tug to the sawmill.i suspect that ultimately, those switchers lugged more tonnage than some road locos. L&N was not shy about rebuilding the diesel engines in those little workhorses.
That wasn't a Georgia Central job switching the intermodal yard. That's Savannah Area Port Authority (SAPT). Surprised you didn't get the GC woodchip train. Also GC isn't part of Rail Link division anymore. They are part of the Coastal Region.
I would like to know what is in Danny’s diet for breakfast lunch and dinner.. or vitamin cabinet, which provides him with the non-stop energy needed to chase and capture even high-speed trains..lol
At :38 the lower left of the screen it says Atlanta to Croxton, Nj. Do you get that info from the scanner? Also, if the crew is limited to a 12 hour work day do the stop at the 6 hour mark and turn the train over to a different crew? Do they separate their locomotives from the train and head 6 hours back south with another load or do they continue on with the mission and park train at the 12 hour mark? I'm new at this and I'm way behind the curve. Thanks. BTW great vids.
danny, you keep saying that in certain spots they are changing to sattelite communications and getting away from 900 mh, does that mean you will not be able to hear communications telling you what trains are coming? how would this affect your railfanning.thanks .great videos
Awesome Video and Catches Danny! Question: the crossing down the tracks, seen at 0:41, does it have a wishbone gate/A frame gate still? Or is that the way the gate is leaning and there is another gate next to it? Also, i subscribed to you, maybe you can subscribe back and check out my videos too?

Excellent video. The Seaboard SDP35 at Hamlet looks great.
Always enjoy riding along with you Danny..........
Thanks Dirt Dauber!

Another great supplement, Danny! Thanks so much for sharing.
Beautiful train from front to back
Great series of 4 videos. Thank you for the video. And the answer is yes, I enjoyed watching.
Loved the ride along! Quite a trip Danny; looking forward to the next adventure.
Great Video Danny! Nice were the days when train 89 had sleepers, diners and road-railers (and came to Florida).
agentadq Yes, I remember when 89 came to Tampa and even went down the S-Line Jax-Baldwin-Wildwood-Lakeland-Tampa. I even rode it once on that route.

Another awesome video. Thanks Danny
Love that CF-7! Great you caught it in action!
Great places and perfect video catches.
I have seen 5809 a few years ago. Came up here to Newark, NJ.
Also the manifest with the SD40s and GP40 was NS P61 which is a round trip job from Linwood, NC to Ashville, NC
Sadly, the Ashville District via the famous Old Fort Loops was taken was recently taken out of service. It is very unlikely it will ever see service again
And you know what's funny? My name is Danny and I love trains! Great video! Liked and subbed!
And you got me in the blue striped shirt at the wye too!!
That's a different Kudzu than what you find in Dalton, Georgia next to and into Tunnel Hill. This looks like a lighter version of the plant.
Awesome video! You would go nuts riding along with us between Hamlet and Fairfax, SC lol...
Thanks Chris!
Yes, I would love to see that stretch! You let me know when and I'm ready! :-))
Great production
1502 was also old Gloster Southern, shared the same paint like the Ashley Drew & Northern
Very Nice Video!

csxcw44ac Thanks for the info. I hope to get back to Hamlet sometime in the coming year. Hopefully before it gets too hot.

UP 8827 is actually a SD70AH. But great catches by the way :)

+Raillashup Productions Didn't they stop making SD70's?

Yup! You said it! Fabulous!
we don't get to see engines like that Penn
Great video!
I use too load those coal trains at Warrior mine...Retired Engineer 2008
You were in my hometown of Savannah, Georgia
Yes. I try to stop in Savannah whenever I pass there.

Northfolk Southern 135 Linwood NC to Chattanooga TN

Yep Garden City on my ATCS is all grey, can't detect trains there because of satellite.
Ya well. There gonna be screwed when the satellites go off line someday.
I LOVE these STREAMLINERS!!!!! But Danny, Why would NS 212 be running a UP loco on the front end? I'm new to this, but that is confusing to me.
It’s sad now Salisbury is now a quiet zone now :(

Hey speaking of the 611 are you going to Strasburg to see the 611? if you do then make a video.
E-bell at 6:45. Correct me if I’m wrong.
Could be. Bells aren't my thing.
Well well well there are moslty C40-8s and 9s on the trains like at beginning at the video

Yes, first gen K5LLA, one of the best of all horns.

trainguy Right now they seem to be staying with VHF simplex for their voice communications. That could change at some point. I really hope not though.
Lol nuclear flask train that new one was.
Northfolk Southern 212 With Union Pacific Atlanta GA to Croxton NJ
Where is central junction located?
Central Junction is underneath US Hwy 80 near Garden City at Savannah. You can see the Amtrak station to the southeast of the overpass.
Get goats for the kudzu. Goats provide meat, milk, and amusement.
Awesome Video and Catches Danny!

LOL WEWEWWWWWWEEEEEEEEE
i thought it was pronounced sal-es-bury not sawlsbury
Sawlsberry is the correct pronunciation. I live in Salisbury, MD on the DelMarVa Peninsula. I see the Delmarva Central just about evety day.
@@scottdowney4865 well too bad, im gonna continue saying sal-is-bury not no sawls-bury
