Always remember, ladies; though mens' sizes are based on actual measurements, womens' clothes are the wild west. At one point womens' clothing was actually regulated over brands. However, now, there is none of that. Brands, generally now, size their clothes based on who buys their clothes.
Try to seperate that number from you, yourself, if you can. Like she said, just think of it like a shoe size. Don't let the conceit of others, and of these brands take your self-love away from you. You deserve more than what that number makes you feel.

Its ridiculous. I was bridesmaids dress shopping in a regular clothing department, not a dress shop, with the bride, and she found a dress she liked and it was 3 sizes smaller than what I normally wear and I swore to her it would never fit, and it did. Clearly a vanity size b/c there was no way, and yet in other brands, I need two sizes up.

As a person who has most of the eating disorders, I really do understand their feelings and the reason for every tear they shed.
You guys really don't know how much it's a blessing to live without having an eating disorder, without hating yourself and judging it harshly for eating one spoon more, without even depriving yourselves from water because it will change the number on the scale....

As someone who has been struggling with my eating disorder for most of my life, it's really nice to see this being talked about more, especially about the struggles of recovery. I gained a lot of weight in the past year due to starting testosterone (I'm trans), and dealing with that has been really difficult and it definitely makes it more difficult to not relapse again. I'm slowly starting to accept that this is just where I need to be right now, and seeing Mei let go of the things that are connected to her past gives me hope for a future where maybe I can do the same. Thanks for this. 😊

Mei just said everything I’m struggling with rn. My dad inflicted an ED on me and I got scary skinny. Then I started eating for my body and gained a lot. Doubled in pants size and it’s been awful feeling like I’m not myself anymore. Learning to love yourself takes so much work.

I have been really struggling with my body image lately and this video was what I needed. It made me feel so inspired and heard. I am the biggest I have ever been, although I am still "skinny." Everyone has different standards of what their body "should" look like, and it is important to hype everyone up no matter their size because ALL BODIES ARE BEAUTIFUL!

This video spoke to me on so many levels, and I wanted to share my biggest tips for others on their self-love journeys - learn to sew your own clothes. You don't have to be great at it; I don't wear half the things I've made because they're one gentle breeze away from falling apart. But learning to sew my own clothes has really helped me see them from a new perspective; it's really driven home the fact that clothes are meant to fit your body, not the other way around. When I shop for clothes, I purposely look for clothes that have enough room for me to alter to fit my body. As I gain sewing experience, I plan on spending more on sewing patterns than clothes - that way, I can make my clothes to fit each of my fluctuating sizes, and in all the fabrics I feel confident in. Thank you Mei & Tahirah for posting this video & being so candid about your journeys!

I wished I had watched this vid earlier but this is so tremendously important! As someone who literally worked at UO and other fashion retailers, the whole idea of sizing is completely messed up. Just as Mei said, you could have the same exact pair of jeans in the same size and color and they could fit totally different! Even across the same brand, jeans in one cut could fit differently in the same size as a jean in a different cut. It's ridiculous! At the end of the day, your size does not define you - all that matters is your body is beautiful no matter what, and you should enjoy whatever clothes you put onto it!

I recently gained a small amount of weight after like 5+ years of being the same weight that was already "overweight" according to doctors and such.. I just feel so bad about myself because nothing happened to me that made me gain it. I've been lucky enough to not really have a drastic eating disorder or getting injured.. I just gained weight I don't even know what from and I feel disgusting.. especially trying on old shorts for summer and all of them being really tight🙁

@@zanapetek408 It does have to do with ageing, The average person stops growing once they hit 21-22 years old. The energy your body took to pump out them growth hormones is no longer a thing or is at the very least slowing down. It is also the reason why we see mental disorders start to 'suddenly' appear in the 20 to 24 age range.

Today ironically I got a clothing item in the mail that literally I have not felt this happy in my body in a piece of clothing in I don't know how long. Between the joy of wearing this clothing item and the joy of watching this video and seeing other people who have similar struggles to me, just trying to live their life, in the body that they now have and I've been on a journey of trying to do that as well and this video is just so wholesome and speaks to me and I'm very happy and I love it and I hope that everyone anyone who reads this comment is happy to.

    • @meikusje
      @meikusje 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Layering can actually help keep you cool, especially if you wear the right types of fabric so the fabric is breathable. I don't dress modest, but I do hike, and a lot of people who are active in the outdoors actually like to wear longer sleeves and pants to protect from the sun, instead of constantly having to apply sunscreen which you then sweat off again.

I would cutout the size, cause I get really fixated on it. So I would cut it off and not let it takeover my thoughts.

Yes, but can we talk about about how sizes are weird? I have different sizes in my closet. I can wear a 0 in some jeans. Sometimes I wear a three. My top sizes are all over the map. They all fit. I never know what size to order online. It messes with my mind.

Get a professional bra fitting, it will blow your mind. I used to wear a 38C, never fit right. I’m a 34F, so much more support!! It’s worth it!!

Where I am from, I am definitely judged for my larger shoe size. They look at me as if I missed some all important memo on how as a girl I was supposed to have dainty fairy feet but here I am 😐

I wanna accept my size as my shoe size, but my jeans are the same size as my shoes and idk why it bothers me. I’ve never loved my body so it’s just hard. :/ I remember being in like kindergarten thinking “if I just had this part of me gone, I’d look like her”

The sad fact is guys still do judge me for my shoe size cause they think it is funny how small they are… they say they should be able to hold me up cause of how big I am…. Rude
