    These 3rd party lenses are making it harder and harder to stay with Canon.

      At the end of the day I can afford GM and Sigmas best lenses. The cheaper lenses I’ll pass on

      @ I can as well. A couple things though. It’s good for the consumer market. Obviously the cheaper lenses aren’t as good. But some lenses aren’t $1200 plus better. And another example for me is, I don’t shoot super wide that often. So I won’t purchase let’s say a 10mm for $2000 plus. I’d prefer to buy something cheaper because it won’t be used often. And E mount gives consumers the option to choose.

      I mean, you can just get a used 85mm f1.8. Still more expensive than this brand-new lens, but an option.
      To be honest, I am also thinking of switching to a cheapo Sony full-frame. The only reason I started with Canon was the worthwhileness of building lens collection, but it seems it's been a bit of a mistake, lol.

      I had thought about many systems before getting my Sony A7III, from Pentax, to Nikon to even Fuji, but I never found Canon interesting, and this was 7 years back.
      Canon not supporting 3rd party is a big L especially considering how many 3rd party companies exist and how high quality their offerings are.

      this until you find out that only contrast detection is available with third party lenses on sony E mount cameras. If you want PDAF with 99.9999 percent hit rate in action you need a Sony lens. Speaking from experience.

    Thank you for your review! I know you wouldn't dissapoint as a real user review. None of the other reviewers compared it to the Viltrox 75 1.2 on APS C, which is what I'm trying to look for. This lens is indeed a perfect lens even for APS C at that price and size!

    hey Arthur, big fan of your contents.
    But I have request: can you please test every lens with your sony apsc camera too? like, even if it's full frame lens, at least let us know how would they perform in apsc camera. As you know, you started as apsc user and most of your viewers must be apsc user too (like me). Much appreciated.

  • @yourtallness

    Got it but haven't tried it yet. An annoying aspect is that the lens hood doesn't have enough clearance for a filter. I had to force the hood to go over the filter once I attached it.

    • @pierredumas7331
      @pierredumas7331 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I had the same problem. If the filter has a knurled ring it's impossible. With a normal filter it's very hard. The hood is also useless on such a focal length with its petal shape. Otherwise the lens is great for its price.

  • @HR-wd6cw
    @HR-wd6cw 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

    This lens looks like a very good option for under $200. Of course it's not perfect but it's good that it's auto focus and doesn't seem to suffer from any serious optical issues (other than the flaring which you mentioned can be a problem, but for a $200 lens that's not bad). I had their 7.5mm APSC Fisheye lens which I wasn't entirely thrilled about but I could see trying out this one (although I already own an 85 1.8 lens for my camera so I probably wouldn't be in a rush to buy this one).

    Viltrox may be the sharpest of the APS-C bunch but it is waaay too big and heavy, I recon. It is why I went for the Sirui Sniper 75/1.2 instead. No regrets. Small sensor needs F/1.2 to get an F/2 full frame look. The lens looks so spunky too. I know Arthur would agree with me at least on this last point 😀

    how does it compares with the samyang compact 75mm f1.8?

  • @TiagoTime
    @TiagoTime 25 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    I keep hearing everyone saying that Viltrox 75mm and 27mm f1.2 e mount are arguably g master sharp for APSC. Arthur you have compared this lens, that of which doesn’t compare to that of a g master based on your comments, do you feel that the viltrox jargon holds up to g master lenses especially in relation to what exists for APSC?

    • @ArthurR
      @ArthurR  24 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The Viltrox 27 and 75 are better than G masters for APSC, if those ever existed. First, they are f1.2. Second, the build is all metal. Third, optically nothing Sony makes for APSC can touch them.

    • @TiagoTime
      @TiagoTime 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@ArthurR Thanks for the response. I was just confused as you had made a slight comparison between this lens and the viltrox which has been lauded as amazing. As a clarifier for those in between purchase decisions, I have heard you say that these viltrox lenses are g master like for APSC, outside of aperture, would you, if you wanted best value I.e. clarity, contrast, sharpness, features, go for a g master or simply grab a viltrox pro for APSC portrait shoots? Does the quality difference show is what I’m curious about…
