Dave... just wanted to say it was awesome meeting you outside indiana jones on Friday... I'm the guy you took selfie with haha... by the way it went down 5 min after haha
I wish they would have made this ride a real racing ride like Radiator Springs Racers but Mario. It's a fun ride but I have no desire to ride it again unless it's a walk-on.
Single rider worked with my 13 yr old to save time, but 8 might be too young. We got there 30min after rope drop and we went strait to Mario Kart. It took us 90 min total, but the ride was down for 30 min. So it would have been 60min. We had gone to Disney a few days earlier and were tired from doing vacation stuff. Go do the backlot tour after Mario. Have fun!
@@cavy95 And Dave makes it sound like single rider isn't really worth it anyway. Fortunately we're going mid-week, so it shouldn't be * awful *. I'm SO excited for the backlot tour!!
I've done VIP at universal before, it was nice, was with a small group and had a guide, didnt get to ride everything but was able to skip lines on the huge lined rides. They got a VIP lounge you can chill away from the crowd, very good for people with anxiety.
The reason that Single Rider does not move for long stretches is because they have a rope cutting off the flow of Single Riders once inside the Visor distribution room (18:46). The reason they do this is to keep the hallway clear of Single Riders between the point where single riders enter the Visor distribution room and the stairs that lead down to loading. The hallway has to remain clear as it is used by ADA guests needing to access the elevator and Team Members re-stocking fresh Visors at the distribution points. So they only send enough single riders to fill the stairs leading down to load.
The reason the single rider queue can be so bad is because the employee in the VR helmet room is not letting people through for long stretches of time, and the employees loading the cars can just flat out ignore the single ride queue because they are so overwhelmed trying to keep up with the regular queue.
We were there the Saturday before Christmas and paid for early access. It was worth it because we rode Mario Kart 3 X before park opens. The only bad thing about this land, you must have a Power Up Band to play any of the games.
I went to Universal over Christmas and cleared the entire upper lot before lunchtime, minus Studio Tour. The Secret Life of Pets was so empty we thought it was closed 😂. Imo definitely don't rope drop MK unless you have early access- there are better ways to use your time, and the line stays consistent throughout the day.
Big agree here. Last time I was there (April or May I think), I followed the MK non-early entry rope drop crowd down to the Lower Lot, but then broke off to do the rest of the Lower Lot, then went back up to do Harry Potter, WaterWorld, and the Studio Tour. I got all that done by like 1, including lunch. If the line doesn't get shorter throughout the day, it's best to just get everything else done and then suck it up and stand for it later.
Thank you for this video. This took a lot of endurance and I appreciate your thoughts on this queue. I am looking forward to doing this in February when it is hopefully less crowded.
The Single Rider queue is usually stuck in that one hallway since they have a rope that stops people from continuing on. Once about half of the queue going down the stairs has moved, they take off the rope and replenish the SR line with people with hats.
Hi David, We met you that day in Nintendo World with my kids. Couldn’t wait to see what you uploaded. Wow! You rode 4x on that ride! I was drained after 1 ride 😂. It was so packed in there. Great stuff as usual!
For anyone’s interest - I went on a Saturday in September and was in the single rider queue at 9:20am - did not take longer than 5-10 minutes. Wasn’t exactly a rope drop as we had ridden one ride before, but might be a consideration for rope dropping this attraction.
You are the absolute best to show us not once but twice the queue in the standby line for the Mario ride. You’re awesome sir. BTW sorry for freakin out the other day on your live with my repetitive questioning. I was panicked about my plans for Disneyland this weekend but thanks so much! Fresh Baked rocks!
Damn, David. You are brave for doing this video. Lol. I rode the ride last night actually and waited 60 min (which included a 10 min breakdown). Parts of that line are so brutal even though you’re technically not there that long in the spot!
It's a shame the glasses distract from the spectacle of what they've built. Without the glasses, you really get a sense of the e-ticket scale. (Based on my own experience riding)
The constant sounds of coin collecting, sheer volume of people and lack of any real plants and greenery at Super Nintendo World would just drive me mad. Doubt I could spend more than a couple of hours in there.
FYI, at least for me in summer when they were doing virtual queues to get into the land. They would let you back in if you have a reservation for Toadstool Cafe. So you could have left the land if you wanted.
I hit a sweet spot earlier this year - a Wednesday in the middle of May. We purchased early entry, rope dropped early entry such that we were in the land at 8AM, and rode Mario Kart, did all key challenges + Bowser Jr, and ate at the restaurant by 10:30AM. It was excellent. We came back mid afternoon and hit a few more key challenges on “hard” mode, and did Bowser Jr again. We came back one more time an hour before park close, and rode Mario Kart 3 times in a row (with it being almost a walk on the 2nd to last time, and a walk on the last time). A worker said that, at that time, we probably picked the best day so far to come. It was awesome.
The best thing I have done for Super Nintendo World was buy the 2pm ticket for admission during HHN that had admission for Super Nintendo World from 7pm-10pm included. All in, 10-20min wait for Mario Kart and the land was pretty empty because you had to pay extra to experience it during HHN
Its worth waking up in the morning tbh universal doesnt has much to keep you until closing so starting early youll leave earlier and be able to leave the park and go eat a great dinner
We were a group a three and they had a paper showing them which cars had a broken visor. They put us in that car to avoid a single rider even with an odd group.
We got stuck in the queue on a hot day in early September. It was a breakdown and we waited 2 hrs before we gave up. By the time we got to the balcony we were hiding in the shade and holding up the queue. People behind us were annoyed at first but when they realized no one was going anywhere they settled down. The only gains we got were people pulling the chute for 2 hrs....we did get in later in the day tho
Went two weeks after it had opened, we were the last group to get in before they turned on the VQ, posted wait time for Mario Kart was 180 minutes(3 hours), we got onto our karts at the 90 minute mark(1 1/2 hours) and this was 30 minutes after the park had opened
I did the rope drop, but I was at the main gate early and way up front. I should have brought early entrance, but it was sold out. I saw all those early entry people walk through. Upon entry (30 minutes earlier than official park opening), we were escorted to the escalators and waited until official park opening. Then escorted again to Nintendo World at 9am, January 1st. Wait time was 45 minutes for Mario Kart.
As someone who doesn't have anyone to go to Universal with, I do find it frustrating when couples or large groups abuse the single rider line. I'm often left sandwiched between large groups joking around how they "beat the line" or between two couples aggressively making out on both sides of me, and bumping into me constantly while they make the line longer for actual single riders, often in dead spots for WiFi or battery going low because they require you to use your phone for everything so I have no choice but to try to disassociate from reality while the line they made longer inches slowly forward
There is nothing wrong with groups using the Single Rider line. The point of the Single Rider line is to fill seats that would otherwise go empty. It is NOT a line that entitles people who go to the parks by themselves, to a shorter wait for an attraction.
There is nothing wrong with sharing my personal experience of constant abuse of single rider lines in the TH-cam comment section. I don't feel entitled to a short wait. I do see rampant entitlement for the people who abuse queues at any park and my POV happens to often be from the single rider line. At Universal specifically I have been sandwiched between teen couples at Revenge of the Mummy making out who get quickly get bored and sneak into the Express lane with no consequences from the park or staff. Different but similar at Forbidden Journey when massive family groups surrounding me act confused as to why they are being separated at the load station. Re: Mario Kart I have been stuck behind people, after being obnoxious the entire wait, refuse to be separated at the load platform, causing longer waits for everyone 🤷 @@ryanc.3372
I go alone a lot too and agree, I get super annoyed at the large groups of people who don’t want to be separated and use it as a “cheat” code to skip 90 minute waits. Waited 100 minutes at gringotts while large party’s were super obnoxious around. Single rider means single rider to me 🤷🏻♂️
i went in the spring with early access. did the ride twice early. then in the afternoon thought about single rider... and the line went to the front of bowser's castle. and i was like... nope! lol
Gotta say when you showed the AR of the glasses and I saw blue turtle shells flying I instantly felt nervous, now I know they aren't THOSE blue shells but man that game has caused some anxiety issues with me! That said, there's something about that area I don't like, and that's the high walls all around you it feels very confining, now I know that's done to give you immersion in the land but it also feels a bit claustrophobic like there's no way to get out and it only gets worse when it's crowded.
I don't know how the attraction assistance pass works at USH but over here in Orlando even our most popular attraction, Hagrids Motorbike Adventure, which doesn't have Express pass. The attraction assistance pass has access to. So some of those people you thought were VIPs might have Attraction Assistance
We did the early access but had issues getting to Universal so we only had 10 minutes left. Bought bands and we were able to do three mini games and defeat Bowser Jr.. From the time we arrived (Tuesday after Columbus day) Mario Kart stayed with a posted 140 and Toads was already booked up. Another vlogger mentioned getting the early access and doing the mini games first and then getting in line for Mario, as Mario Kart hits 60 minutes at early access through opening. I have a feeling it is both a combination of it being the only ride in the land and probably low capacity.
Honestly I think going early address is the only way to do if you do not want to wait 1 hour or more. I do wish we got the Yoshi ride that Japan got to help make the line a little shorter (or have something else to do that does not require the power bands). I do that Hollywood make an express line after it opens in Florida and hope that the land is not as crowded
My son and I just returned to Texas after our Disneyland trip. He really wanted to experience Nintendo World, but we decided we'd wait for Epic Universe to be built since it seemed there wasn't very much to do at the LA park.
For some reason this year our school district had more winter break after Christmas than before so some schools weren’t back in school till the 8th!!! That would explain lots of kids first week of Jan.
Best time I’ve seen to ride this attraction is at night on the nights the park is open until 9 or 10 pm. Way better the rope drop I’d say it’s better to do the entire lower lot at ride stop from my experience as a pass-holder while this attractions been open. Just my opinion. Love the content glad you’re doing more universal content these last couple weeks! Can we get a state of Universal once a month! You’re the best! Thank you!
I think it's because the rest of the park doesn't have any other rides that are that popular besides Harry Potter. The last few times we went prior to Mario being completed, almost everything was a walk on and this would almost be a half day park. Hopefully once FF coaster is finished that will thin things out for Mario.
A few notes as a fellow Platinum Passholder who goes at least once a month for SNW in particular: 1. From the timing of this video, it would seem you went on the day after New Year's, which was definitely packed to an anomalous degree. This might have skewed a few observations, such as: 1a. VIP was likely purchased more for this day. Excluding tours, I usually see small handfuls of people drop through VIP maybe once every 10-15 minutes on an average Sunday. 1b. SR was packed. There are still many who think it's a "cheat code" or "secret fast line" for the ride, and it's not always the case. However, just with more people in the area especially, more people who "know the tip" are more likely to get into SR if it's open. 2. Generally, long waits tend to happen when the pace of visor cleaning is slower than the rate of guests coming in. There can be some hiccups during ride breakdowns (but it didn't seem like you had any on this one), and sometimes the line takes a stop if someone gets height checked and fails, but these are generally not as common as the visor holdup. 3. There have been times SR can cycle through people really quickly. On a September Sunday in particular, I went on the ride maybe 8 times with at least 6 being on SR. As you mentioned, it depends on the standby queue, and your theory about ride car capacity and the couples pattern tends to play a major role. This is a helpful video for those coming into a packed day, but I feel like your intended revisit in February will see a pretty different scene. In general, I still find that the last couple of hours of operation of the park sees the queue shrink pretty far below the listed wait (often listed at 75, but actually 45-50). Absolutely agree that rope dropping to a 120-min wait is the result of Early Access, though. This is the time in which EA and general admission mix. It's the only ride in the park that frontloads its crowds (compared to something like Jurassic World, which tends to peak in the late morning or mid afternoon depending on the weather). Really great video. Thanks for the work you do. :)
That early entry is a gamble. Imagine paying that for a family ov 4 and the ride is down. That would be a huge bummer and there would be no rainchecks on it
I bought an early entrance ticket to Super Nintendo world. I walked on Mario Kart 2 times in a row. I went on it later at night and the wait was longer. I didn't go to those other que areas. I enjoyed the look at night.
The reservation system opens at around the same time Early Access does. The link floats around the Universal Studios subreddit pretty often, so you can reserve without scanning any QR code. If you miss the first wave, there's usually a second wave of openings that are released sometime around 10 or 11.
At least the line cue theming is nice 😅 but goodness that is a wait! That single rider line is not pretty though. Ah! Gaming memories are the best! I love that they gave the biggest hug to gamers with the theming. I know they have Mario, Luigi, Peach, and now Toad...but I'd love if somehow they had Yoshi. He's my favorite.
Nintendo Land is so fun, but so expensive. You have to drop a lot of extra money to enjoy it. We dropped $240 for early entry and power up bands so we could enjoy the experience. People are always talking about how Disney nickels and dimes you to death, but I find much more of that at Universal. Just my opinion. 🤷🏼♀️
I’m the middle of a non-holiday week in September, we waited painfully while the ride was down. That was a TERRIBLE idea - never doing it again. The next day, we rope dropped it and went straight through the line. Literally didn’t stop until the pre-show video room. It was awesome. I’m mostly curious how you recorded anything on it. I had a wrist mounted 360 x3 securely fastened around my wrist and thumb, and they still asked me to remove it. That’s fine, of course, and I did. But I don’t understand how so many people are making videos of it.
Mario Kart has the worst Single Rider in any ride in existence. I timed it twice on busy days(Both 90 minutes wait time) to see if SR can go faster than Stand-by and in both times, Stand-By went by faster than SR(Visit 1: Standby took me 70 vs SR over 2 hours. Visit 2: Stand-By 63 minutes vs SR 100 minutes). I agree with your SR analysis but I’ll add one more thing: Everyone wants to ride it. Look at the other SR at USH: Forbidden Journey(Which is also 4), Revenge of the Mummy, Transformers and Jurassic World are on the thrilling side thus you’ll get groups where some of the guests there don’t want to ride them due to the thrill factor thus making the parties smaller while a friend/family member will be waiting for them outside.
I got so lucky when i went last month. The wait time was 120. I hopped in the single rider and waited 10. But i missed an obviously cool queue. Maybe when im back for horror nights I'll brave it 😅
I see no comments talking about your high level gameplay! MK8 Deluxe for the Switch has wii rainbow road in full remastered glory incase you didn’t know!
When the Fast And Furious coaster opens, do you imagine they will keep it off of the skip the line system, like Hagrid’s at Universal Florida? I imagine it will be the new headliner, but also think Mario will continue to have the most demanding lines since it is all-ages, while the F&F coaster is designed to rip your head off like Velocicoaster
I do not think we are going get the express line anytime soon for mario. I think after Epic universal opens, we have a chance of it opening since that one will be bigger overall. but who knows if it would make more Central and Mountain timezones go to the Florida one.
Mario will stay off Universal Express for the foreseeable future for sure. I think it's determined more by how long the lines get and less by if there were any rides that opened afterwards. Hagrid's opened in 2019 and is still not on Express to this day because it still pulls crazy lines. Meanwhile Velocicoaster opened two years later and is on Express now. Since Mario has the much broader appeal like you say (as does Hagrid's), I would actually bet money on F&F getting Express first despite opening later.
It is hard to know for sure. F&F roller coaster is going to be the first adult outside that Hollywood will get. So may be popular. I do think we need a second ride in the Mario area though. Does not need to be yoshi ride but something else might make the lines better
You do such wonderful camera work. You got such great equipment. Teach me, Obi-Wan-TH-camr You. I enjoy listening to you. I got great ideas for you. I'll throw one out there. A great one. I love this idea for everyone to do more inclusive videos ❤ I think David is a great "story teller"/describer that it could work if he decides to do so.
The land is great looking….but ALL THAT waiting for a really bad SCREEN ride?!? Ugh! (I’m sure that Gen Z, and younger Millennials love it! 🙄). It’s like if Galaxy’s Edge ONLY had Smugglers Run…..BAD! No Donkey Kong coaster, no other rides, packed in like sardines?!? Forget it!! Maybe I’ll go in 15 years IF they put in a decent Kong coaster, other rides, and BIGGER expansions!!
Tip for parents check your child's height before going in the line, that causes a lot of problems in loading people. My husband and I saw it happen like 10 times. They check before they load and drama happens, and the family gets booted out. And don't go on single rider on hot days, You'll roast in waiting outside until you get inside.😅
Los Angeles County has 2 weeks off. Christmas week and New years week. They do NOT have vacation in February like the east coast schools do. So…if you want small crowds go to Disney LAND in February instead of Florida. Lifehack!
But Forbidden Journey is a 4 seater and single rider moves. Different ride types but there is definitely more demand for Single Rider because the regular line is so long. Main issue is they needed to make Nintendo land bigger with another attraction.
FJ operates like an omni mover, they don't have time to find and group parties together, so they use Single Rider. That is why it moves so efficiently.
@@ryanc.3372that and the fact that FJ is on the thrilling side so many parties will have the one member who will sit the ride out and wait outside, unlike MK where everyone wants to ride it.
Question....you keep saying VIP is the only way to by pass the line....but doesn't disability pass by pass it as well? Asking because my son will have one.

That said, there's something about that area I don't like, and that's the high walls all around you it feels very confining, now I know that's done to give you immersion in the land but it also feels a bit claustrophobic like there's no way to get out and it only gets worse when it's crowded.
Wow. What a test. I wish the land had at least one more ride. It’s a great land but wow is it crowded.
I don't know how the attraction assistance pass works at USH but over here in Orlando even our most popular attraction, Hagrids Motorbike Adventure, which doesn't have Express pass. The attraction assistance pass has access to. So some of those people you thought were VIPs might have Attraction Assistance
I'm going on Thursday which is after the holiday season and on a weekday. Maybe it'll be more chill by then.
You rock dude 🙏
My son and I just returned to Texas after our Disneyland trip. He really wanted to experience Nintendo World, but we decided we'd wait for Epic Universe to be built since it seemed there wasn't very much to do at the LA park.
For some reason this year our school district had more winter break after Christmas than before so some schools weren’t back in school till the 8th!!! That would explain lots of kids first week of Jan.
I enjoyed the VR you were able to capture first ride
Best time I’ve seen to ride this attraction is at night on the nights the park is open until 9 or 10 pm. Way better the rope drop I’d say it’s better to do the entire lower lot at ride stop from my experience as a pass-holder while this attractions been open. Just my opinion. Love the content glad you’re doing more universal content these last couple weeks! Can we get a state of Universal once a month! You’re the best! Thank you!
You can come back in with your Toadstool reservation without virtual que
I think it's because the rest of the park doesn't have any other rides that are that popular besides Harry Potter. The last few times we went prior to Mario being completed, almost everything was a walk on and this would almost be a half day park. Hopefully once FF coaster is finished that will thin things out for Mario.
Support comment. these videos always just intrigue me cause I sure as hell won’t be standing in line myself
A few notes as a fellow Platinum Passholder who goes at least once a month for SNW in particular:
1. From the timing of this video, it would seem you went on the day after New Year's, which was definitely packed to an anomalous degree. This might have skewed a few observations, such as:
I wonder if you could get back in the land if you got a reservation for Toadstool cafe even though the virtual queue reservations were all gone?
That early entry is a gamble. Imagine paying that for a family ov 4 and the ride is down. That would be a huge bummer and there would be no rainchecks on it
As a Mario Kart fan, I MUST check out this other channel!
I bought an early entrance ticket to Super Nintendo world. I walked on Mario Kart 2 times in a row. I went on it later at night and the wait was longer. I didn't go to those other que areas. I enjoyed the look at night.
Toadstool Cafe recon would be interesting because it’s nearly impossible to get reservations.
My kids just went back to school today. It was a late winter break.
But I don’t understand how so many people are making videos of it.
i didn't bring it out until we were moving a little bit.
Only rivaled by The Harry Potter queue, thanks for this video, because that ride is definitely not worth it lol
This is good cause I never see anyone cover this ride or Mario land
David what shoes do you wear? My feet would be killing me if I stood in line that long!!!
@29:16 😂
I got so lucky when i went last month. The wait time was 120. I hopped in the single rider and waited 10. But i missed an obviously cool queue. Maybe when im back for horror nights I'll brave it 😅
It’s still holiday crowds with schools out on break.
That looks like literal hell
Looks ghetto
I was kind hoping this was going to be a day of you trying to improve your score 😂
Hey Fresh Baked!!
Hi how are you doing today and happy new year and have fun at universal studios Hollywood
👋
You are a bit bonkers. I can’t imagine doing that.
you poor, poor man
I appreciate your videos, so I don’t have to go and waste any time.
You do such wonderful camera work. You got such great equipment. Teach me, Obi-Wan-TH-camr You. I enjoy listening to you. I got great ideas for you. I'll throw one out there. A great one. Videos by you for the blind. You describing. And letting the sounds descibe themselves. A section of videos designed for the blind in mind, but for all to enjoy. I got more amazing ideas for you. Your welcome.
Lifehack!
Compare Disneyland's Galaxy's Ege to Universals Mario Kart
But Forbidden Journey is a 4 seater and single rider moves. Different ride types but there is definitely more demand for Single Rider because the regular line is so long. Main issue is they needed to make Nintendo land bigger with another attraction.
FJ operates like an omni mover, they don't have time to find and group parties together, so they use Single Rider. That is why it moves so efficiently.
@@ryanc.3372that and the fact that FJ is on the thrilling side so many parties will have the one member who will sit the ride out and wait outside, unlike MK where everyone wants to ride it.
LA❤❤❤
😂
Question....you keep saying VIP is the only way to by pass the line....but doesn't disability pass by pass it as well? Asking because my son will have one.
it does, yes. but it doesn't qualify as a "strategy". it's not something available to everyone.
