I remember going to the Red Garter in Pensacola and this song would play all the time. I can close my eyes and see the club, the beautiful people dancing, laughing and drinking. I was 18 in 1979 and looking back it was the best time of my life. Just close your eyes and relax with nice cold cocktail and let yourself drift back into 1979. It was an amazing journey that I was able to experience and lived to tell about it. In my opinion it was the best time to be alive and to live it. If I could take a time machine to go back in time it would be to 1979 and once I got there relive my life over again and I would not change a thing.

(called The Zoo in the movie) And I'm so happy that it's documented in that movie.. i went to Odyssey1,Dillons, Circus, Flippers, as all these clubs had "all ages" nights.. believe it or not.. In the movie there's a scene where the disco owner goes goes to a jewelry counter inside the disco.. that also is accurate.. the discos had jewelry counters with gold necklaces, coke spoons and amyl nitrate(poppers) for sale.. oh what a time it was..
This classic just had so many layers...the disco anthem. This was the last dance signal at this great bar in Ann Arbor, Michigan. When we hear this ...we knew it was time to close the club and party outside or just go home. Hey, there was always the White Castle for sliders to clear those hang overs. Those good ol' days are gone...but I still have a flickering recollection of 70's and 80's. Keep on dancin'!!!....it never gets old.

Today, I am 58-years old today and listening to this song, today, has a far different meaning in my heart and soul. Listening to this song, today, in this moment, is truly a souvenir for me. Today, I listen to this song, and instead of enjoying just the beat, I listen to the words...I really listen to the words....I am consumed and moved by these words. When I was a young boy, these words had no meaning. I never realized how deep the words to this song truly were. When I was young, there was no need for me to understand what a souvenir was, because young people have no archives, no deep memories; at least not yet. But today, these words have far more meaning and significance because I have built a library of memories. Almost everything I pick up in my home today, an old record, an old photo with a long lost loves, a hat I used to wear 15-years ago, or the hat my father wore before he passed away. Maybe even just listening to this song, and the great times this song gave me...almost anything, is now a souvenir for me with so many memories attached. Es imposible decir en letras, lo que se vivió en la décadas de los 70's con esta clase de musica. Porque sencillamente, lo involucraba todo. Era imposible que en algún momento de la vida, no influyera o no fuera parte de nuestra existencia. Nuestros estados de ánimo, recibían una tremenda influencia con esta musica. Nuestro mundo cambiaba mágicamente al escuchar estas melodias. En segundos pasabas de la realidad a la fantasía mental. Este género de música influyó extremadamente en la gente de la década de los 70's...y probablemente, en las siguientes generaciones por venir. Es la música, que solo sabemos que nacio.... pero no sabremos, hasta cuando influirá en el futuro, porque es ese tipo de música, para la eternidad.
Qué bien has expresado con palabras, los sentimientos que nos producía escuchar todas esas canciones de los 70, especialmente ésta. Parecía que el corazón iba a estallar de alegría y entrábamos en un mundo de fantasía que siempre añoraremos. Qué afortunados hemos sido de vivir esa época en directo.

Today, I am 58-years old today and listening to this song, today, has a far different meaning in my heart and soul. Listening to this song, today, in this moment, is truly a souvenir for me.
Today, I listen to this song, and instead of enjoying just the beat, I listen to the words...I really listen to the words....I am consumed and moved by these words.
When I was a young boy, these words had no meaning. I never realized how deep the words to this song truly were. When I was young, there was no need for me to understand what a souvenir was, because young people have no archives, no deep memories; at least not yet. But today, these words have far more meaning and significance because I have built a library of memories.
Almost everything I pick up in my home today, an old record, an old photo with a long lost loves, a hat I used to wear 15-years ago, or the hat my father wore before he passed away. Maybe even just listening to this song, and the great times this song gave me...almost anything, is now a souvenir for me with so many memories attached.
I would really love to record an acoustic version of this song... A song that focuses on the words and puts the beat on the side for a while. I think I'm going to work on that.
I'm 69, and this song brings me the greatest joy of remembering my dancing days and felling so happy and free if only for just a few minutes.

Aunque ya hace muchos años escribiste esto, yo HOY estoy escuchando a Voyage, con Souvenirs; Esta canción la bailamos muchas veces mis amigos y yo en el grupo TREBOL de Torreón, Coahuila en 1979 - 1980, cuando fuimos campeones absolutos de Fiebre, Oscar, Gerardo, Federico y yo, Alberto. Por desgracia, Oscar falleció en marzo 2021 y Gerardo en marzo 2022.
Solo quedamos Federico y yo.

You know, it's actually gotten to the point where this music sounds better in the car while driving. They really need an exclusive public disco station here in Fresno. They have old school programs, but disco is really a different world. This is like travel music.
