Your channel is great! I have been trying to get into I.T. I got my A+ last October. Just working on getting in. I really like knowing what to expect. Thanks!
I just got past the part where you mention the nearing end of life/support of a version of Windows. How about taking the opportunity to switch to Linux? 4:10 Please, do let yourself finish! 🙂 10:37 I hear BUI, but see BIA. Which is it?
hhmm tho linux is a great OS, it's hard for us to transition because our users are not tech people and it would be difficult for them to transition from what they're used to and change their workflow. and also, all of our software are Microsoft compatible and we use Microsoft to deploy our software packages and patching etc. I'm sorry it's BIA actually. I don't know why I keep saying BUI haha apologies.
Thanks! Glad you liked the content. yes we usually use static IP for machines that we don't want the IP to change like printers and servers so we setup a fixed IP address for it because if the machine reboots for example, we don't want the IP to be different because we will not be able to reach the printers and servers next time because they're pointing to a different IP address now. But we don't just use static IP for machines in t he environment, we always mix it with DHCP for the user workstations because we really don't care about the IP for those and it would be cumbersome to setup for every device and inefficient to manage so we just let the DHCP server to take care of that

Hello East Charmer. Are you filipino?
Yes I am
Great content, clear explanations. Is there an advantage in your environment in using static IP addresses over DHCP reservations?

We use DHCP on all of our printers initially and convert them to reservations.
Thank you!
You're welcome!!
