    I can testify to this. I bought the same car in 2020. Trust you me, i have never been to a garage since i bought it. Just regular service at DT Dobie... nothing more

      I have its sister car (Skoda fabia) sold new locally tropical version in '09 - same suspension all those year, shocks changed only once. Engine has never been opened - oil change service every 10k kms, that's it; still pulls like brand new. No rattling plastics or body parts, feels much tighter than most KC, KD registered cars and its a KB. The plastic coolant system pipes will age - mine did at year 13 - they're inexpensive to change given correct parts and mechanic. As long as you have a knowledgable mech and access to genuine parts you'll not want to sell that car for many years....especially when you consider how light it is on fuel vs its performance

    Buying new is highly discouraged by Mpigs making the tax laws. Buying brand new cars in SA is cheaper than buying cars second-hand cars in Kenya.

    So, this is essentially a poverty spec Polo Vivo to make it more hardy in our environment. From a business standpoint this is quite genius. I’m definitely not the target market though but it’s a good ‘dudu’ zero mileage option for Kenyans. They understood their target market here.

    Do they sell it with 6 speed manual? Late 2000s the sister car (Skoda fabia) used to be sold for Kenyan market new by CMC motors and had 5 speed manual option. Also has the tough suspension and under protection like this. Most were 1.4 NA. That's why you see mk1 and mk2 Fabias around still running very strong. Mine is mk2 2009 and I can tell you from the many years - very impressive! Especially engine and suspension - mine has seen many national parks and rough road trips with 4 people and full boot. Manual option makes it more fun to drive for me :) By now I know all its pros and cons, happy to share if interesting, in a sentence - I would 100% buy it again!

    I think the fuel consumption rate of any engine also depends on the altitude/elevation at which you are driving. Higher altitude=less performance due to the thinner air. You tend to consume less on your way to Mombasa from Nairobi than on the way back to Nairobi.

    • @ndungu_kinyanjui
      @ndungu_kinyanjui 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe when a vehicle is aclamatized to a certain altitude or region its components and fuel in that region has to adapt.

    • @discoverkenya
      @discoverkenya ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ndungu_kinyanjui that’s a. Dry strange thing to believe. Cars aren’t organic matter, they don’t ‘acclimatise’ to anything. And I’m sure cars aren’t developed miles and miles above sea level, unless there’s a car made in the Himalayas that I’ve never heard of so I don’t understand the whole altitude part. Emmanuel was just stating an interesting point, that you’ll get more range going down towards sea level.

    • @discoverkenya
      @discoverkenya ปีที่แล้ว

      And more performance going towards denser air.
