- If you come from a DAW with a linear-style recording process like Logic, Pro Tools, etc. -- Maschine's recording process may appear to be a bit confusing.The words scene, group, patterns, and sounds all might as well be a foreign language to you.
Today, I'm going to help you understand the how scenes, groups, patterns and sounds fit into the Maschine recording process so that you can start recording full songs in Maschine.

this is why fl studio is king I wasted 1000 on machine studio I gave it a chance I tried to learn it but it ended up being a road block the scenes/pattern/group arrangement is TRASH getting a beat started in machine is really quick and easy so now I use machine studio as a vst inside fl studio and just track it out in fl studios playlist and this works like a dream its the only thing that kept me from returning the machine once I figured this out it cut my workflow time in half

Is there away to change the sound of a hi hat, for example (hi hat1) and change to new sound hi hat 2 and keep hi hat 1's original pattern?

So I use Studio One 4 and just bought a Maschine MRK 3 but also purchased the Komplete 12 Ultimate. Is there a way to have all of those libraries on the Maschine and/or be able to use my Maschine as well as my A49 keyboard in the Maschine DAW with all those libraries?

The link that you posted doesn’t work. Quite sure because the price went up for the book, which I’d like to receive, but I have a quick question. What mode is your screen in...arranger/group mode or scene? This MK3 is amazing but when I make a pattern and hit the group icon to see in horizontal from A1 to say G1 I don’t see nor hear the pattern I did. Why is that?
Great video. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I am a more traditional keyboard player and composer, so getting used to this type of workflow is difficult for me. Your video helped a bunch and I appreciate your enthusiasm. One thing you may have wrong in your video is at 7:11 where you identify the Pad View button as the Pattern Manager button, which is really the little triangle in the corner. This threw me a bit, because it is still something I am struggling with - why would I manage patterns under a group. But I will get there. Thanks again for a wonderful video and please keep sharing your knowledge and passion with the rest of us.
Can you add multiple patterns within a scene? Lets say Pattern1,2,3 going across horizontally in group A to have variations of
the drums within scene 1
Yes if you use clips.
@7:13 those are not your patterns.
Those are your sound slots.
(A virtual representation of your pads)
The down arrow to the right of the virtual pads menu shows your patterns menu.

Is there a way to stop a sample spilling into the next scene for example I have two different patterns of a sample and when layering them into separate scenes, a tail of the previous scene works it's way into the new scene.
So basically a pattern can consist of multiple instrument patterns?
thats the only main issue with the program and hardware it is pretty backwards thinking as far as putting a song together and figuring out how to do that. otherwise not a bad set.
Hello Robert, I'm new to Maschine, waiting to get my computer to hook it all up. My longtime weapons of choice have been the MPCs and Ensoniq ASR10. I normally use one long sequence for my entire song and just erase different elements of my beats to arrange them. Is that possible in Maschine and if so how can I achieve that? It's easier for me to make beats this way because I don't have to deal with all of these sequences or whatever you'd call it in Maschine. Your response and input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, love your vids!

Basically I create all of the different tracks and have them all playing at once (drums, bass, primary melody, secondary melody, etc). Then, I'll duplicate these tracks and remove some of the elements to form the overall arrangement. Similar to your ASR10 workflow, only Maschine prolly works slightly differently.
Thanks for the video . Is there a way to record multiple patterns under a scene ?eg Scene 1 - Record Drums in A1> length 8 bars and then in B1 >record the bass 4 individual 2 bar length patterns(instead of just the default , which will loop the first 2 bars 4 times ) Thanks

How do you move the pads/samples around in the kit. ex: switch sound 1 with sound 7.
I don't think you can switch two sounds. The workaround is to use the duplicate button. Hold duplicate + select the sound you want, then select the pad you want to duplicate that sound towards.
Thx for responding man, but I found out I needed to de-select the Sound icon (right below the Kit name) so I move the sounds/pads to a different place.

Older video, but to the point, I'm just not sure Maschine was a good choice for someone who rather compose, noodle, and otherwise not at all interested in 'BEATS'. (I hate that word, beats). I want to work on ambient synth, some silly stuff, like techno with some sampled stuff, similar to Lemon Jelly (the band). I'm still unclear on what the limits are of the Maschine. Maybe, I'm better going to Ableton Push 2, and Ableton, which has no limits> (IE: certain number of patterns, sounds in a group, locked to '16' of this or that.... Uhg.

Confusing AF!!! You really need to already have a great working knowledge and a grasp of "Producer Jargon"!! Absolutely no help at all for a simple beat producer. ALL I am trying to figure out is how to arrange my scenes into a song! This is my 5th video attempt and still no closer to getting my SIMPLE question answered!!!!! I usually give up and record EVERYTHING into Pro Tools and move sections around!!! SUCKS!!!!
