Each Gynae ward has multiple toilets that are cleaned and often checked out/used by others, be they the cleaners or other expecting women so it really isn't strange they found the baby. If a pregnant woman is accepted and she is gone from her bed without delivering the baby properly, the first place they'd check is the toilet to make sure she didn't go to relieve herself only to end up giving birth there by accident because it has happened.
