  • In Ealing last year, a call from a concerned resident who hadn’t seen her neighbour for some time resulted in the body of a woman being found.
The victim, 35-year-old Shakira Spencer, was described as “a beautiful soul who cared deeply about people."
The Detective who led this investigation explains the process of arresting and evidencing the sadistic and cruel murderers, who have since been sentenced to 34 years in prison each, after a trial at the Old Bailey.

God bless Shakira, and may her soul rest in everlasting peace.
I pray for Shakira's children and her family, that they may overcome this horrendous event.

Or at least, do away with minimum tariffs as the EU previously demanded.
Sentence to be held at His Majesty’s Pleasure.
That’s how the Moors Murders were held.
Each new Parliament, Home Secretary reads the file and decides if in the public interest it should be reviewed. If no, the file closes for another five years.
They never know if there will be a review or not. Sounds fair.
As for judicial murder, it was done away with because statistical analysis shows that for every ten capital convictions, one is over turned (10%).
If 50 people go to the gallows, then in a normal functioning system, up to five people risk being put to death in error.
In less rigorous systems, that statistic will inevitably rise. Britain had too many questionable convictions at capital punishment level and other convictions, that led to years in prison for some, would previously have been capital crimes (think wrongly accused IRA).
Apart from that, as signatories to the ECHR, capital punishment is outlawed completely for all crimes. This led to the tidying up of laws, particularly military law during the time of Tony Blair. Circa 1998
Murder is wrong. Judicial or otherwise. It often leads to errors in judgment and condemnation to the innocent. It is also against the law.
An alternative deterrent would be, as I said, no minimum term and a specialist penal colony off the UK mainland with a hard regime that will generate fear for the convicted, irrespective of whatever gender they are or claim to be. I have in mind a British, a tad softer and kindly form of the Russian Polar Wolf colony.
The physical infrastructure and routine is rather depressing and makes people long for their natural or unnatural death. However, prison staff ensure that each inmate lives, has food and can never inflict self harm.
There are no tv’s, play stations, woodworking class, open university etc.
      Just time - waiting

It beggars belief that a vulnerable woman, clearly injured and unwell could just be left to fend for herself because she couldn't ask for help from services supposed to help.

I’m vulnerable also from the U.K. a. Women got conned into renting an attic for nearly £2000 per month, by an estate agent who I thought was nice. Experienced severe domestic violence which was the reason I had to leave family home, my family member is now in broadmoar. I’ve reached out to my local social services and council been ignored. I contemplate suicide every day- I did the right thing I reported the danger of my family member saved others from harm and lost my family in the process and what did I get out of it, to rot in a run down attic being financially exploited and no one cares!

If you ask for help, in a position like Shakira's, most people WILL dismiss you, certainly if you end up looking the way Shakira did.
Most and perhaps all councils, for example, and DWP, have no safeguards in place for people who are kept in modern slavery and for example ask for housing benefits etc and are forced to pass those on to someone else. People (victims) are too easily dismissed as dimwitted or mentally unwell.

34 years each. Out in 20. While yhey still have a luttle bit of life left.
They took that from someone that was lookjng for friendhsip.
Yet she was abused, tortured, then .urdered by those she thought were friends.
The sentencing laws in this country are a fucking joke.
I sincerely hope, somebody gives a nice fat deposit, to the first person that metes out justice, for Shakira.
We are all in a world of pain, as this will not abate. Lax sentencing, will only exacerbate this problem.
Justice should SEEN to be done. Yet it is not.
An eye for an eye, is the ONLY appropriate sentence, for these... these vile vermin.
I cant imagine what this poor girl went through.
I pray her soul is at rest.

I may have heard wrong but I watched the judges sentencing and understood that the sentence was life and it would be 34 years before they will even be considered for parole. They were told that it was possible they would never be released.

The judge did say they may never be released and 34 years to be served before even considered for parole. Hopefully they will never be released.

Ok thanks guys. I watched it again, and yeah, it seems like it's life with a recommendation of 34.
Not sure if behavioural changes, 'finding God' & all that, will make release happen a bit earlier...
      Let's hope not.

She was missing foe months. Rest in peace Shakira and hope your family Will cope, as this is a shocking end to her life, she seemed kind and very vulnerable. Bless you Shakira

The police bumped into Shakira 10 days before she died she told them she was OK and despite them seeing injuries on her face, they didn't bother to take her home arrange a welfare check or anything neither did her family or friends no one helped or checked up on her despite the fact she had special needs now her family have appeared expressing their sorrow too little too late.

I've just co e from sky courts I've been watching them a lot lately. I never knew about this awful case and it gutted me hearing what she went through. Nobody has the right to do this to another human. 100 years bring back capital punishment it frees up space saves us tax payers money but firstly it's real justice. 3 meals a day your mortgage paid for life isn't punishment. Have a nice weekend 👍

Did they witness the horror treatment?

The brains and dedication behind the investigating team, is to be commended. I don't want to say whats on my mind, why did it take the uncle of one of the offenders, to bring this to the attention of the police. He is to be commended for his action, I'm sure he has been abused for his actions, by some of his family. No one would isolate me from my Daughter, in a situation where I knew she was being badly abused. I don't care what it would have taken, even if it meant having her assessed and declared incompetent to look after herself. From the Judges summing up, it was known and she had been seen with severe bruising to her face and body, I'm at a loss, a beautiful young woman and Mother dead, when it could have been prevented.
