Thank you for sharing your method of work. I have been adapting your methods to improve my steel string guitar building. We're very grateful for the information and methods you share. So much is inevitably lost in a "secretive" craft, like guitar building, when only the apprentice system is used to pass on information, and learner does not have a mentor to follow.
+PabloRequena I will. It's my 5th guitar, so I am still learning. Your method is both 'methodical' and 'repeatable'. And I am still searching for the better solution.
Thanks for sharing Pablo. Just curious if you use your left hand for carving when you do the other side of the neck (with a different knife), so you can use the same technique, or do you still use your right hand and carve with strokes in the opposite directions. Thanks again for sharing.
Hello I would like to ask about Headstock's angle and if it affects sound or playability, I watch your videos and at the same time make a classic guitar. I made the Neck but I accidentally cut the Headstock angle from 9 degrees showing the plan at 12 degrees, if I use this Neck how do you think it will affect the instrument at the end? Do you propose to make a new one or do you think I can use this one? Thank you very much
I don’t think you need make a new neck. The head angle will influence the tension on the strings, but the kind of angle that you are mentioning shouldn’t be a problem as it is within the range of most classical guitars.
Ok, I will try. But also, have a look at: th-cam.com/video/NJSDS2e0As4/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/a1gMVDdiwdU/w-d-xo.html You might find what you need in those videos.
Ok, I will try to explain. In my guitars, the domed area is not a perfect circular shape, the circle is stretched towards the sound hole to include the area that is above the lower harmonic bar, so, bare in mind that the upper harmonic bar is perfectly flat( to support the down pressure from the fingerboard) but the lower harmonic bar has the same radius/arch as the rest of the soundboard to allow for a smooth transition from the flat upper area of the soundboard to the arched lower area, the transition start somewhere in between the two harmonic bars, or in the middle of the sound hole. I hope this makes sense.
