44 Tricks in Spelunky 2, everything from speedrun strats to casual tips for general play! I made this video out of love for the community and I hope it helps you pull off some really cool runs.

really sick video!! well worth the effort put into it all. if people are struggling with any of these tricks, here's a few extra pointers for ones i could find:
1:24 - this strat is especially easy to pull off when a salad sister or other subroom occupies the bottom layer of the level. you can always safely teleport from the bottom layer directly into the bm!
3:24 - never jump before telefragging tiamat. it's the usual muscle memory when speedrunning, but jumping actually puts you in a much worse position for this kill.
4:26 - be careful of any extra crush traps in the subroom. why is this in the game
4:38 - to add to xana's stars challenge arrow idea, you can also get an arrow by sacrificing a rock on the city of gold altar if you have 16 or more favor. chuck it at a body and it'll be a blunt arrow you can use to self-sac at 1hp.
5:28 - you'll only have to aggro a sister to prevent them from spawning for the rest of the run.
6:22 - be careful of gold and gems (unlike xana here smh) as they can unintentionally trigger extra powder kegs and ruin the strategy. make sure to not mimic xana and place outside, then inside (ty cloiss).
7:07 - make sure to teleport as low as you can to avoid overshooting and dying in the ceiling. bombing the vault is important so you won't potentially die on the way back!
7:29 - if you're struggling with dropmattocking, i've found that walking makes this trick much easier than doing it while sprinting.
9:22 - this is the worst trick ever. you can use 2 bombs under the idol to create a higher gap to place a rope in and wait for some extra time.
12:39 - if you're struggling to get this kill, be sure to *not* place the bombs at the left edge of the pillar. placing in the center makes the bomb cascade connect more consistently, as the final bomb will explode closer to tiamat.
12:55 - if the landmine kills anything other than tiamat, you will lose pacifist. be quick!
14:00 - this strat is also an excellent means of doing hundun for low% no gold, since normal floorstrats constantly rain gold upon the player. if you get unlucky like xana did in his clip, and gold is right under the tube, you can rope to ride the leftmost tube onto the spikes, which i'm fairly certain can never have gold on them.
17:23 - do not jump before placing this rope, as it will cause you to bonk your head when placing your next rope to escape. if you're lucky, a tiki trap can spawn 2 tiles away from the pole you climb (in this clip, the tiki trap on the right would work) which will prevent the pole from being destroyed, allowing you to save your first rope.
19:30 - keep in mind that the abyss on certain levels will not be the same! for example, on the black market, the main level is doubled in size to accommodate the back layer, so you'll have to either kill sad in the black market itself, or the terrain outside it.
20:59 - telescanning is wild, but also situational. don't telescan on every level, since some levels are better to just explore. the best levels to telescan are large levels with colors that contrast bubbles (like temple, dwelling, and sunken city). be careful of anything in the horizontal loop -- telescanning is safest in the vertical loop, as shown in xana's clip!
actually xana does the 2 bomb paste strat the wrong way around, but it doesn't matter because he's near the center. It should always be outside to inside.

Even if someone hasn't played The Super Spelunky 68 HD Remastered; Ultimate Deluxe Developer's Collector Hard Case Digital Edition, im pretty sure they could still grasp it unlike most contextual difficulty meters other youtubers use for their videos or different games, shit you could use this meter for other games to be fuckin honest LOL

When killing the sad ghost it's important to note the "splat" sound effect which indicates that the ghost was successfully killed.
It’s insane how far this game has come, there’s probably still thousands of tricks undiscovered
6:30 worth noting that if there's gold in the exterior 2 sections it fling into the TNT, causing it to go off too early and kill you

Thank you so much I have been taking a break as I have just beaten hundun and done a couple attempts at getting to cosmic ocean but after seeing this I can muster up some motivation to try the impossible.

Probably intentional, as Climbing Gloves can be annoying to use and even make you die
You sort of have to force yourself to get used to them, they're actually useable unlike the first game where it autograbs if you're close to the wall and I always avoided them. You just have to get used to being careful about pressing into walls.
I struggle more with the telepack because I press jump unnecessarily too much while in the air to be able to climb ledges quicker.
Enjoyed the video a lot and Im sure to enjoy it in future times since Im 100% sure that I'll revisit this to try all the hard skips Im not implementing yet. Rn I have only gotten Qilin's skip with vlad cape kinda consistent (althought using some more ropes to get myself over the wall directly instead of walking over the first spark traps which I'll try next time), and obviously the classic death skip with paste on the 2 ropes. Thanks for this amazing video, and thanks to all the Spelunky 2 community for being so amazing, I hope we all keep enjoying this game as much as it deserves it ^^

9:24 - You can also just teleport up without using a rope if you have climbing gloves, but if you don't, just pray you don't get squashed.

I know that this video is older,but for newer players 4 bomb skip has a much easier line up now. If u jump towards the idol and go into the gap above it will always line you up as long as you don’t move once lined up. If you are struggling to understand then there’s a video by pastryperson that shows it off well.

I've found that you could steal the shop keeper's shotgun with the rope rob by quickly picking it up, as long as there's not a locked room in the shop, because you would pick up the key dropped by the shopkeeper, and not the shotgun

great video! now we also need a tutorial of how to play the game in the way it was "intended" because I am forgetting how to get to CO without a skip.
I'm sure there are plenty of video tutorials on this, but I enjoy explaining puzzle solutions and whatnot, so I'm going to describe it anyway for anyone who reads this and wants to know. Major spoilers ahead!
Dwelling: Use the golden key to unlock the Udjat Eye in the back layer room on either 1-2 or 1-3. (Key and chest are always on the same level, and Yang/turkeys are always on the other level.)
If you go to Volcana: Use the Eye on the drill level to trigger the drill and get into Vlad's Castle in the back layer. Take his Crown (and optionally kill him for his cape).
If you go to Jungle: Use the Eye blinking (and/or other cues) to determine where the Black Market entrance is when it appears in one of the levels. (I'm not sure if it can appear in 2-1 or not.) Go in and buy (or rob) the Hedjet.
Either way in world 2: Don't forget to keep an eye out for the Moon Challenge and get the Bow from it! (NOT skippable EVER for CO)
Olmec: Get the Ankh. Deposit the Bow with Waddler.
If you go to Tide Pool: Pull Excalibur in 4-2. Leave it at the top of 4-3 (along with your worn item), find the back layer path to the idol trap at the bottom, disturb the idol and get killed, then take the revealed exit to Abzu. Use Excalibur to kill Kingu for the Tablet of Destiny.
If you go to Temple of Anubis: Kill Anubis in 4-1 and take his scepter. Find the City of Gold entrance in 4-2 and use the scepter to enter. Sacrifice yourself on the altar in City of Gold to enter Duat, then climb to the top and kill Osiris for the Tablet of Destiny. Optionally kill Anubis again for a jetpack.
Ice Cave: Nothing (unless you're going for Eggplant Crown).
Neo Babylon: Enter the back layer Ushabti room in 6-2 and find the Ushabti described by the Tablet of Destiny entry in your journal. Carry it with you into 6-3 to unlock the Qilin, and then ride it carefully to the top of 6-4 to enter Sunken City.
Sunken City: Retrieve the Bow from Waddler in 7-1, and complete the Sun Challenge when it appears to obtain the Light Arrow. After defeating Hundun in 7-4, shoot the Light Arrow directly into his eye from the Bow and jump into the vortex to enter Cosmic Ocean!
Certain steps of this are skippable if you're taking Tide Pool but not Temple, and if you're skipping Qilin then you don't have to do anything except the Moon Challenge before that. Basically you need one of the two crown items to a) pull the sword, or b) enter City of Gold, non-negotiably, and you need the Ankh to enter Duat, non-negotiably, but you can skip the sword by cracking Kingu's shell with bombs, and/or perform a death skip in Tide Pool 4-3. Also, either crown can be obtained without the Udjat Eye if you have the right equipment and/or knowledge.
I love those" now you can see how I line up my hands here" then proceed to do it so fuckin fast I have to rewind it 20 time and frame by frame to see it.....still a great video😅
At 5:28 you don't actually have to kill them. You only have to anger them.

Hey XanaGear! This is an insane video that showed me things I didn't even know about especially that full ghost kill on ice caves, but I was wondering how you had a game overlay for your controller. The first tech, rope rob, you can steal the shopkeepers shotgun quickly too
One thing i have found helps me is setting off the dart trap on the top right of vlads castle and then baiting vlad over before jumping into the crevice in the very top right and whiping him when he comes to me, it has never once failed me and its what i always use when fighting vlad and it takes no resources
If you can't do olmec skip (or want to get anch normally) the easiest way I found to beat him is when he is in his hover phase. Place a rope in the middle and all the way to the left of the arena and bait him into throwing bombs 3 times then hit his hover pads. (Keep doing this until he is in a pit he can't get out of)

13:32 An easier way I've been doing it, is to stand on the fourth item in the shop, backwhip + jump at the same time, then stomp on the shopkeepers head.

Don't need to hold up, just need to make sure you're at the top of the rope.
Great master, please tell me. how many hours of training and games do you need to pass the game ? I have played for about 500 hours while my record is 7-30. How long did it take you to pass 7-99?
In no paste death skip, search it up, theres a way to aline the bombs easily
The whip rob...why can't you just back whip jump while walking away? Style points I guess, maybe faster too but I'm unsure.

Hey Xana! Didn't see you since I left titch. I know a trick you don't know. If you activate a hover pack in right moment you can land on spikes!
Other than that I would say your video lacks that Ice caves skip where you fall from the ledge instead of going through yetis.
Your telling me, I can get the mattock every run but noe I cant get the clone gun/elixir?
