I've never figured out why Takamine doesn't disclose this in the paperwork included with their guitars. I ended up with a GN93CE that was nearly brand new that someone had traded in at Guitar Center, and I suspect this is exactly why, it was almost unplayable with the shims still in.
I tried this on my gd93ce it just didn't have that acoustic sound that I like then I took only one shim out it sounded okay but I still put them both back in. Also if you're not careful The saddle has to be aligned with the bridge exactly or you could get a dead string when you plug in your guitar. Since this post I went back and I removed one shim then I raised my trustrod a quarter turn. And the guitar sounds amazing. My guitar is now in pitch on the 12th fret just like it is on the 5th fret
