The thing is, Pixel doesn't support a lot of countries, value wise that's already a big dent on it. No VoLTE, VoWIFI, or 5g for you in my country. In some countries it might be even worse. Also a lot of carriers are offering the A54 with it, it may depend per country but I got my a54 for 124$.
I totally agree with you the Pixel 7a is by far better. The Exynos processor drags down the A54. I'm sure with an update Google will address the overheating. I plan on getting a 7a but I'm going to wait a few months to see if the price will drop. Thank you.
There was a lot of reviews about pixel 6a overheating as well. Now i have one. During first days of usage there was some heating but after installation of all updates it got better. A few days ago there was another update. Moreover they say that tensor somehow learns how you use phone and optimizes its performance.
You do realize that the Tensor 2 IS ITSELF an Exynos re-named? Seriously. Google collaborated with Samsung and added a few AI tweaks to a mature Exynos flagship.
Interesting video. I bought the pixel 7 - had it for 3 weeks, returned back and bought the a54. Comparing the two, i found the a54 was a much nicer phone overall. The a54 has better build quality, a more premium feel, a better screen, better battery life and longer Google updates. Google pixel 7 better camera, a faster processor but in reality these things are actually marginal in reality. The battery and screen for me were so poor on the google 7 that i felt like i had a phone from 5 years ago, literally.
Facts: The A54 does not have longer google updates, it does not have a better camera and it does not have a faster processor. Better battery yes. Better display? (They're the same)
@@CallMeKJOS Think you missed the point of my msg. The a54 does have a superior screen. Actually, it's a night and day difference. Plus the A54 is waterproof. Is a great full package deal of a phone.
Not much difference between the screens? A54 Bigger Brighter Super Amoled and not a generic Oled HDR10+ Gorilla glass 5 120hz This sounds like a significant difference to me. 🙄
One thing to note is servicing. Atleast for inidan customers, pixel doesn't have any service centers available nearby. But Samsung have service centers available readily. I had a problem with my Motorola and had to travel a lot to get the phone serviced. Pixel has even worse servicing availability. Good luck buyers.
Very fine job with this review and I look forward to viewing more of your content. I own both a Pixel 7 Pro and a Motorola Edge+ 2022 and both are great devices with similar features. Motorola is competing very aggressively at this price point by offering flagship features at midrange prices. One consideration is that the cameras on the late model Pixels are considered among the best. However, this is not all that important to me as I only need my phone to take photos occasionally. Still, I'd expect resale and/or trade-in value to be higher on the Pixels a few years down the road. It's always nice to have options.
So from my point of view the exynos in a54 is a decent procesor batery life charging rate good , very good display , pixel dosent have 5g in my country and has signal problems in 4g also the price a54 is 300€ pixel is 500€. At 300€ u cant go wrong woth a54.
I was going to get the 7a, but I got a better deal on the Pixel 7 so I went with that. I have an A71 that I gave to my son I mean they are decent phones, but with Pixel...you're getting a Nexus. Subbed great review!!
Unless the video has the labels swapped, the comments on the camera are just all wrong. The A54 was sharper, with better resolution, contrast, and more saturated neutral colors. More depth of field is NOT what you want in a camera. In fact, the reason "professional" lenses are more expensive is because they have wider apertures for LESS depth of field (makes the subject stand out).
Recently upgraded from pixel 3a to 7a, I like it well enough except the fingerprint scanner suckkkkks - constantly fails no matter how many times I re-register my fingerprint
Geekbench is not a reliable source of numbers. It is well known all Pixel Phones put extra power to various systems when running bench tests to overclock their devices and make them apear better than they really are. As to camera's both of these phones use exactly the same Sony Sensors in fact every phone in existance uses Sony sensors the only difference is the software that utelises them.
here in my country pixel 7a price is like double the price of a54... and its very hard to find it in stores... a54 price is 300$ and pixel 7a is like 650$ and no after sale service for pixel here...
A34 is actually a better value than either of these phones (if you aren't a camera nut). The A34 has a larger 6.7" 120HZ screen, a Dimensity chipset very close to parity with the A54, and it's under $300. As for Pixel phones -- they are plagued by software issues (and there are already some with the 7a). I cannot recommend a Google Pixel phone, due to these problems. Support is quite poor.
I posted a few links about the software issues with Pixel phones, and they were scrubbed from this channel. Buyers, do your research. I have a house full of Google products, by the way.
Have you come across overheating issues with the 7A ? There is no point in having a device that produces great video if it shuts down after usung it for 10 mins at a picnic.
Damn it overheats, i was just about to make my decision, and seeing this, I don't think I wil wanna go for this, tho the camera of pixel is pretty better
The reason people choose pixel software is because of the Google assistant. The speech to text recognition is better, more consistent, more reliable. It's so simple but that's why we prefer it G2 tensor chips and all the other chips just gaming crap
I had a pixel 7 not 7a and it was the worst phone I’ve ever owned. Battery life was worse than any phone I’ve had, super buggy and the pictures weren’t even close to as good as my iPhone 12 Pro Max. I’ve switched to the galaxy and I love it
You forget there's the poco F5/F5 pro for mid ranged too

Damn. Glad you mention the overheat. Imo NO amount of software optimisation will ever compensate for hardware specs (sad but true). So Samsung wins for me!
I've tried exynos, and all I can say is that I'll never go back. Its performance degrades very quickly overtime. I wouldn't recommend it even if it's flagship grade.
Not really. It actually improves. Exynos are rarely optimized at introduction due to less support outside of Samsung (but it improves as Samsung and various programmers catch up). Which model did you have, and how long did you keep the phone?
I dont agree with that...exynos chipsets are more often than not unoptimized when its right out of its shelves..but after a few updates it only gets better
Again outside of the US Samsung is always a better value no matter what anyone might say, pixels until it has better after sales it will always come 2nd place plus storage variants on samsungs have more advantage.
So T-Mobile told me that I could get a Pixel Fold or Razr+ for free if I just added another 2 lines to my account... Got the RAZR+ for Free and Instead of getting Either of these I ended up getting a S23 for only $350 for my girlfriend.
Tooooo many harsh edges on the Pixel 7a. The Visor Button Transition from the side rail to the back panel. The screen has a rainbow effect off axis . The back is so cheap it couldn't compete with the back of a Redmi 10. I'm totally not impressed with the build quality, I paid half the price for the Poco F5 which is all plastic but feels better in the hand.
In general the best phone this year to buy is Samsung Galaxy s23 plus or regular s23 with its chipset snapdragon 8 gen2 for galaxy 🔥🔥 and 120hertz and amazing display Not necessarily QHD or wqhd cuz no really difference will noticable so yes pick wisely guys
Na man Il wait for the 24 plus or s25 plus no qhd for flagship phone at 1k and around 6.6 inch screen that is violation when the mi13 pro has it and its in the middle of the three same with Samsung but u have get the chocolate bar phone if u want 2k screen which is making the regular s series un attractive specially for the plus model for 3 straight years now
as an old user of Samsung A51 DO NOT BUY MID RANGE SAMSUNG PHONES. no matter what soc it has the software experience is gonna suck big time. if you love One UI and wanna experience what it has buy an old S series samsung like S22 or even S21 FE.
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY i'd say buy the 7 instead, not the 7A lol The pixel 7 is actually around 530 in Europe right now, little more than the 7A and you get even more value. The screen is better with smaller bezels, the camera sensors are better, the IP rating is better and more. Get the 7. For 500 is a no brainer. The A54 is not a bad phone but the performance is disappointing, Samsung should've put a snapdragon 7 gen 1 or so inside the A54. If you really want a cheap Samsung, get the A34 instead, it's almost the same as the A54 and costs 260 lol you save a lot of money. The A54 is actually a bad deal right now.
Agree. The 7 costs only 50 more in Europe and you get: 1 - IP68 with aluminum frame and gorilla glass victus vs IP67 plastic and gorilla glass 3 in 7a 2 - 1400nits and smaller bezels in 7 3 - The camera sensors in the 7 are a little bit better 4 - 10bit HDR in videos in 7, the 7a doesn't have that 5 - 4K 60 in 7 selfie camera which is a little bit better vs 4k 30 in the 7a 6 - 20W wireless charge much faster than 7.5W in the 7a and even reverse wireless charge that the 7a can't do... There's a lot of small advantages that in the end, make a difference, for only 50 euros more...

I went A54 and have made a huge mistake. A54 IS BUGGY. OneUI crashes, unlock issues, finger print reader not good and Bluetooth does not auto connect to my car !!!!!! Ffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
First time use in a day with strong sunshine. It is almost unusable due to the extremely low brightness of the screen even at 100%. This screen is among the worst on the market. There is no benefit of it being OLED since it is so bland and unsaturated that the colors pops worse than on a mediocre LCD-screen. Don't buy it if you wanna use it outdoors when the sun shines. It is totally useless in that regard! And this is by default, since it occasionally can push the brightness up (When watching TH-cam HDR-content for example). It has also occasionally had short burst of much higher brightness when using it normally. (like more than double the brightness). This indicates that is dimmed by design, probably to save battery and maybe also to not make it overheat. Two well-known problems of Pixel phones. This absolutely crap for a quite expensive midrange phone (the display is worse than on phones that cost 1/5 of it). Otherwize it is a great phone. It's just unusable outdoors in bright sunshine and the display is really crap for an OLED anyway.
After owning a samsung A52 then A53 you could never ever convince me to buy something from the samsung A series ever again. Complete Dog-Shite. Here the A54 is 799 and the pixel 7a is 899.

Samsung Galaxy A54 5G is better for me in many ways. Everyone has his own interest and preferences. 😊
@@thestingyham1188Tensor 2= Snapdragon 888 from what I’ve heard
Those dual tone colours and that matte-black frame of Pixel 6a looks better than the Pixel 7a Imho.
Ahhh I agree to disagree
that's subjective
for me this has a better design
@@Jisooee quite
@@Jisooee Ik, but the matte-black frame and dual tone colours were unique to Pixel.
I'm glad they kept the rectangular visor.
In my country Pixel 7a is 500E while A54 is 300E. Huge difference sooo, A54 all the way.
(They're the same)
@@CallMeKJOS He never said the A54 had a better processor or camera mate. Read his comment again more closely
@@CallMeKJOS You can argue about that, security updates are both 5 years and the 7a only has 3 feature-update-years but the A54 has 4 as far as I know
How has your experience been bro? About jumping in the ship.
@@CallMeKJOS Think you missed the point of my msg. The a54 does have a superior screen. Actually, it's a night and day difference. Plus the A54 is waterproof. Is a great full package deal of a phone.
Not much difference between the screens?
A54
Bigger
Brighter
Super Amoled and not a generic Oled
HDR10+
Gorilla glass 5
120hz
This sounds like a significant difference to me.
You said Pixel 7a heats up a lot. Isn't that big point to avoid pixel and buy A54 5g?
Great video man! Love the Man United Jersey BTW😂
My guyyyy🙏🏿
Really love your videos man🙏👏
Thanks Ivan. I appreciate it.
Nice balanced review!
Appreciate you for watching
Recently upgraded from pixel 3a to 7a, I like it well enough except the fingerprint scanner suckkkkks - constantly fails no matter how many times I re-register my fingerprint
Geekbench is not a reliable source of numbers. It is well known all Pixel Phones put extra power to various systems when running bench tests to overclock their devices and make them apear better than they really are. As to camera's both of these phones use exactly the same Sony Sensors in fact every phone in existance uses Sony sensors the only difference is the software that utelises them.
what you think about the pixel 8?
Hello from Sènègal😊 nice video sir 😊
Thank you! 🇸🇳
@@CallMeKJOS most welcome thank you Sir 👍
What If you can get the a54 for 50 bucks in the USA ?
@ negative for the 7A (beside the 90 Hz display). No SD card and Gorilla Glass 3.
Where you got those wallpapers man? Nice video keep rising!
Thank you. It's on the Backdrops app
My A51 good enough. Why always upgrading ? Plus sdram card !!
here in my country pixel 7a price is like double the price of a54... and its very hard to find it in stores... a54 price is 300$ and pixel 7a is like 650$ and no after sale service for pixel here...
So the A54 is the most ideal?
Ynwa brother❤
Please you talked about overheating. What temperature would you call overheating? My s10e hits 40°c sometimes and I'm bothered
30 there about
@@CallMeKJOS wow. Ok
30 is normal. 40 is heavy use and above 42 is over heating. And 50 is a problem
@@angryviper1 thanks. Sounds better
Clean & clear 👍
Can you do a full camera comparison between Pixel 6a and Pixel 7a?
I will. Should be out later this month
I disagree with the software issues on the pixel. Are you still basing this on the Pixel 6?
Pixel got very good support. They even pledged to replace my unit. No device is perfect. Even Apple is struggling sometimes.
Yes it does get hot!
Great review
Appreciate it
I dont know about the situation there in your country, but in India Pixel 7a is having lots of network issues.
Damn it overheats, i was just about to make my decision, and seeing this, I don't think I wil wanna go for this, tho the camera of pixel is pretty better
I'd choose pixel 7A if stop to decide between cuz of chipset only G tensor 2 for performance over exynos or whatever is 🤷🏻♂️
The "famous" G Tensor 2 is just an Exynos rebranded huh. It's the same crap.
Goodluck with the excessive heating 😂
Dope review as always. This is very good. I use the Pixel 7 Pro and would have definitely gotten the Pixel 7a if I was still using the 6.
Appreciate it Olawale. I have all three and I switch between them every few weeks.
Fair enough
I have the Pixel 7 Pro the video quality is superb.
I got one for 300 12 a month with 75 down best komey ive spent on a phone barring lg v 60
Thanks for the great comparison. What is the SoT you're getting on the Pixel 7a?
The highest I've gotten is 7 hours which isn't great. Since then it's been between 5-6
I've tried exynos, and all I can say is that I'll never go back. Its performance degrades very quickly overtime. I wouldn't recommend it even if it's flagship grade.
Fair enough
“Incredible “ for only a year 🎉
Did he just rate Stock Android on a Google Pixel 4 out of 5!?
Yes I did :)
Again outside of the US Samsung is always a better value no matter what anyone might say, pixels until it has better after sales it will always come 2nd place plus storage variants on samsungs have more advantage.
Just bought the 8GB 256 model it works perfect saying that I notice you forgot to mention A54 expandable memory
I had to buy a Samsung because Pixel phones are not sold in my country :(
So T-Mobile told me that I could get a Pixel Fold or Razr+ for free if I just added another 2 lines to my account... Got the RAZR+ for Free and Instead of getting Either of these I ended up getting a S23 for only $350 for my girlfriend.
in my country pixel 7 a is 500€ and a54 is 370€
The heating issue is the only thing that I don’t like so far with my 7a.
it has been fixed with the latest update
@@dodi535 yes true i’m. Not facing it anymore Love this device 🩵⚫️⚫️ ⚪️🩵
Pixels are better until you reach out a comment sections under their reviews on specialized sites.
Tooooo many harsh edges on the Pixel 7a.
The Visor

Transition from the side rail to the back panel.
If you're in a budget those are solid phones
@@CallMeKJOS i won't mind to buy even if expensive for me but at least it'll last so long ... Pay a bit more for better savings in future
Fair enough
Na man Il wait for the 24 plus or s25 plus no qhd for flagship phone at 1k and around 6.6 inch screen that is violation when the mi13 pro has it and its in the middle of the three same with Samsung but u have get the chocolate bar phone if u want 2k screen which is making the regular s series un attractive specially for the plus model for 3 straight years now
Nah. Galaxy phones have unforgivable Samsung bloatware
If pixel is one of the fastest phone, does it slow down the speed?
Yesterday i bought an a54 for 250€ (275$) tax includet… absoluty a no brainer in my opinion
Still a54
I like Samsung but the A series just can't compete with Google in terms of photography. Besides the Android stock on Pixel is way better.
Agreed
as an old user of Samsung A51 DO NOT BUY MID RANGE SAMSUNG PHONES. no matter what soc it has the software experience is gonna suck big time. if you love One UI and wanna experience what it has buy an old S series samsung like S22 or even S21 FE.

Omg..wherever i go there i see Manchesterunited..so happy 🎉❤

Agreed. I did a video comparing the 7A to the 7 and the 7 isnof better value
Agree. The 7 costs only 50 more in Europe and you get:
1 - IP68 with aluminum frame and gorilla glass victus vs IP67 plastic and gorilla glass 3 in 7a
2 - 1400nits and smaller bezels in 7
3 - The camera sensors in the 7 are a little bit better
4 - 10bit HDR in videos in 7, the 7a doesn't have that
5 - 4K 60 in 7 selfie camera which is a little bit better vs 4k 30 in the 7a
6 - 20W wireless charge much faster than 7.5W in the 7a and even reverse wireless charge that the 7a can't do...
There's a lot of small advantages that in the end, make a difference, for only 50 euros more...
350$ for a54, works great
We all know that with each update pixel phones are going to be better 😊
Agreed.
I drive a Xiaomi 11 lite ne and my sister got the A54 and mine makes the A54 look like a joke ( but it has a better screen ) and mine is half the price
i used to have 11 lite 5g .. nice phone till the day motherboard died. happily 30 days before warranty end..i had it repaired and gave it to my mom and bought a54. much more reliable phone and the battery life is outstanding in comparison to 11lite 5g
that insect and hair strand had all my attention
Lmao wait what?
Pixel is too small. Both have terrible PWM values. Terrible for our eyes. Still love pixel phones

I went A54 and have made a huge mistake. A54 IS BUGGY. OneUI crashes, unlock issues, finger print reader not good and Bluetooth does not auto connect to my car !!!!!! Ffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
Sounds like bad luck. Mine is flawless. My free Pixel 8 I returned had all those issues. A54 is working fine
Google should bring their phones to more markets.
Unfortunately, for us A54 I the only viable choice.
Unfortunately. Hopefully soon
Yeah in real terms 90hz is plenty plenty in fact, 60 Hertz is extremely functional
Any phone in 2023 not giving a decent battery🔋 life shouldn't be purchased.
Pixel made in China, no thanks. A54 made in Korea, and its also a very good buy👌
I do agree with this. Using it today was annoying. Especially wearing sun shades.
Both Gaming and movies are great on A54 no struggling not shure where u got your info from

I'm sorry but none them is a waste of money
That title makes no sense
i dont like squarish look.. Also it looks bigger/taller than S22/S23. Why? Wish it was 145mm X 70mm in size. Also weight is 195grams. Too heavy.
It is bigger and taller than the S23. It's 6.4 inches.
As a user of multiple devices I say for what they cost get both.
After owning a samsung A52 then A53 you could never ever convince me to buy something from the samsung A series ever again. Complete Dog-Shite. Here the A54 is 799 and the pixel 7a is 899.
I want to trust your judgement but you're wearing a Manchester United jersey.

It does
Dont waste your time with pixel phones
Pixel is better ,where the, argument ended was the g2 chip they put inside the 7a
Pretty much. Tensor G2 outclasses it.
I don't know why but for me the pixel 6a looks premium than pixel 7a...
Really?
Galaxy A54 is glass front and back not all plastic
Gamer 7a much photos 7a. Everything else a54. Around 350 a54 is fucking good bang for the buck.. Will take time 7a will be in same price. For me big thing was support.. A54 5years not like apple 7 years but 5 is very very good for 350 buck phone. What I think A54 and 7A have both 5 years security update but 7a will get 3 new android versions when a54 gets 4. I change from 4a to a54. I do love pixel but was time to change support was in the end and no deal now from 7a. So easy choice. Last samsung was s6 back in the day when prices was still not so crazy what today. That was good phone but battery too small. Changed bigger one after years of use and continued more. I like now days that phone cost 300-350.. 1500 fucking much too much 900 too much.. I get pc parts or build new pc with that money.. I use much pc so pc can be much money. Don't use phone that much so no point getting latest and greatest. But if you don't use pc then i can see why phone is much.. Still I think tablet is better with phone.. When i don't game anymore and old fart I think i go just for tablet and phone. Or only tablet.. Need bigger screen than phone when you are old and blind.
