Upgrading the sound system was the very first mod I did to my 1992 Toyota Pickup when I got it. I put my 6x9 speakers in the two side storage compartments using the empty compartment as a sound reflector. It's free and uses the available space without taking up the back seats. It works rather nicely I think. I'm betting you understand what I mean, but I'd be happy to show you photos if you have somewhere to post them.
Could you walk me through on how to wire them, do I just splice them into the front speakers? Because I have a atoto a6pf stereo in my 89 xtra cab and I want to use those compartments to add speakers as well
@@jaredhernandez2313 You could splice them into the front speakers, and that would work, but then you wouldn't actually have rear speakers, it would just be two more front channels. What you want to do is wire them into the audio deck itself. On your Atoto A6 PF wiring harness, the Right Rear is the Purple wiring, and the Left Rear is the Green wiring. You'll want to attach the speaker wire to those Green and Purple outputs on your Atoto, then run the speaker wire under the floor trim all the way back to the storage compartments where you'll mount and wire the speakers. I had to mount them diagonally to get them to fit without too much modification. But you will need to make a few holes in the panels. Hope this helps.
Have a 93 single cab. Changed out side glass and installed vent windows. Not hard at all. Bought both sides 100.00 . Leaving space for 6.5 speakers, with tweeters. Then installed crossovers in kick panels and replaced head unit with double den.
My daily driver is a 93 Toyota Pickup!!! I did a redo of my system and added an under the seat subwoofer behind the back seat. The sub includes the amp and it runs around $100
I used the existing wires for the front dash speakers and the previous owner ran speakers through the paneling to the rear 6x9s. Still looking for a better option though.
Yes ran new wires.forgot to note! Added 300 watt amp . Mounted to cab rear. And chased wires through rocker panels.note not enough space under plastic trim, that’s holds carpet down
@@TheLostWolvesSRQ A reply like that is what I'd expect from a grown man hacking up a truck like a 15 year old kid would. I think you're the hurt one not knowing basic skills and things not to do. GL

Hell ya man I appreciate it. Haven't made much progress as of now with it still sitting since I messed around the first time.

That's so sick would love to see it
1997 Tacoma rear speaker covers fit the pickup.
If you haven't come across that yet anyways. I realize it's been awhile.
You can also get the front speaker boxes out of a early 90s 4runnwr for the front and it makes them sound way way better
i got some rear panels off of ebay that are specifically for adding 6x9s
Im fixing to do something similar on a 94 xt cab - 5spd 22re that my mother in law gave me. I'll post back and let ya know how I decided to do it.
Did you have to run new wire from the radio to the speakers or can you use the existing wire?
