But yes it was very cool getting to meet him in high school! He was already a really big deal at that point, and most basketball fans already knew who he was. That was the only time I ever got to see him play live and I’m grateful for that opportunity!

I ended up getting that auto authenticated and slabbed from PSA, so now it’s safely encapsulated for safekeeping! Nice collection! I collected from 91-2014 or so but still picked up Kobe’s here and there throughout the years. Didn’t realize how high some of that rookie year stuff got! May looking into moving some of my multiples and aim for my holy grail MJ rookie! You should get that high school photo into a custom card!
Yeah even the base rookies have risen in price a lot! The Collector’s Choice RC was a $3 card for years and is now going $25+ if it’s in good condition. I was thinking of sending the auto to PSA to have it authenticated and put into a nice slab

Nice collection, nowadays you have at least 50k worth of Kobe cards. I’m a huge collector as well but I don’t own a single raw card worth more than $600. I see you have multiple $1k Kobe’s wow!!
Thanks! Luckily I had great timing on a lot of these purchases, I could never have gotten all these cards if I was paying current prices. All three of those autos I bought for only around $100 each right before he passed, and now they’re all worth probably $1500-$2K each!
That’s interesting…I don’t think I’ve ever seen one that’s black and white on the back. All the ones I’ve ever seen have Kobe’s face in color on the back
I had a BGS 8.5 Kobe Chrome Rookie a long time ago, but unfortunately I sold that around 2001. Wish I had that one back! I’d like to buy another one at some point but I think they’re still too expensive right now.
Wow I really enjoyed this video. Especially since I'm a Kobe fan. I'm looking for a nice on-card auto as well. Some suggestions for future videos since I'm curious as well. 1. It would be interesting to find all the cards with Kobe wearing his Jordan PEs. I liked you mentioned that fun trivia. 2. Maybe consider sending in his HS auto for authentication that way it's slabbed forever.

I’ve thought about sending the Kobe auto to PSA, but I wouldn’t want to risk them not authenticating it and then something happening to it. I’m happy for now just to hold on to it as is. Yep the EX2000 and the Bowmans are some of my favorites! Nice job getting a 9 on the SP rookie! I think that card will keep jumping in value over time.
He was definitely one of my favorites - I’m still buying his cards, but they’ve gotten so expensive that I had to slow down a lot on my purchases unfortunately.
I would love to get the Topps Chrome, it’a just so expensive! I bought one for $15 back in 1997 and graded it with BGS and it got an 8.5. I sold it in 2000 for probably $400, which was a lot of money back then, but I really wish I had it back!
Haha, I have some stuff planned to go to PSA, so I was hoping to do an update when those cards came back, but I haven’t even sent them yet since PSA shut down most services. I will definitely do an update though at some point in the future!

Have you noticed the Kobe row cards has 2 different backs ? One black n white other his face and color? My row zero has his face and it’s colored
