I need a true remake of this for modern hardware. This is one of my favorite games of all time! I call my daughter Deneb as a nickname, because she's queen of the pumpkin heads :). Love running the Dragon Haven sidequest for the SNES.
The fan patch isn’t really “taking liberties” if the original translation was shoddy. Which it was. It seems to prioritize the Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together name conventions.
I play this game a few times a year. Truly great and OBTactics is okay. I never really relied on cards, I just gathered money from first few maps and farmed a few evil groups. My fav is princess, lich, monk, Tristan and debonaire
Hate the sound effects, the changes in the animations (e.g. Nightmare) and names (e. g. Dark Quest instead of Phantom), but the menus and overworld sprites look nice. Apart from the version, kudos to Spockrocket for this awesome run! Edit: I love the evil dead animation, guess they restored it from the Japanese version.
This is an English fan patch, which uses some of the ps1 sounds. It also may have some translation differences from the official English releases. The official Japanese release for Saturn uses the SNES sounds.

looks superior to the psx version due to load times being much better but definitely SNES seems to be the best.

@@dangybrangus It's a more recent translation so it uses the new official spellings and names from PSP Tactics Ogre (Xenobia, Lanselot, etc).
Is it true that this version on Saturn add new 5 more maps from original version?
So glad that RPG Limit Break plays games people actually know and like.
Ogre Battle is not too obscure, and I'm pretty sure it was a major influence on Unicorn Overlord.
