In her previous 15 lpga tour events, Bailey had ONE top 25 finish. Talk about a longshot.

geez as an aussie fan minjees a head scratcher @ times,opens with a blistering -7 & plays at the most elite level that only a handfull can as she does more often than most only to appear bothered by the course and her tee.shot predominantly over the next 3 rounds ?
she posesses so much god given talent more than 96% of the rest of the girls imo indicated by her many many wins over 9 years that its confusing to me that when she leads off with a round like that she doesnt go on with it,i just feel with her talent she should have at least a half dozen more victories under her belt.am i being too harsh ?
Yes, because Golf is hard. If the putts don't drop, it doesn't matter how well you play tee to green.
Minjee joined her brother Minwoo at Callaway in a multi-million-dollar deal this off-season. She switched from Srixon and Cleveland clubs to Callaway, and has spent a number of her off-season weeks with her coach tweaking her swing to adapt to the equipment change. Minjee typically hasn't been one to get out of the starting blocks fast into a new season, she more often finds peak or mid-season form after May. But for the time being she's still breaking in those new clubs.
As for her past yrs' performances, keep in mind that she's playing in the era of 3 future hall of famers in Inbee Park, Lydia Ko, and Jin Young Ko, not to mention deep fields ripe with more young talent than ever before. All that combined has taken potential wins off of Minjee's plate.
