Not nearly as luxury as Dior, but I used to work at a Michael Kors store with $500 bags, and they used to tell us to focus on saying the LEATHER was Italian so people would think they were made in Italy, but they were actually made in China with “Italian leather” (or sometimes even cheaper manmade materials) for between $10-$20 per bag. They told us that if a bag got shoplifted it wasn’t a big financial loss because of that. I couldn’t believe it!!

I totally agree with holding luxury accountable but I think also social media has a big role to play as well. With so many influencers pushing us to buy the latest bags that also manipulate people to buy from these brands. I have always loved the history behind the brands and Dior in particular but are the brands also cutting corners and outsourcing to fulfill consumer demand?

@@NikiSky Yes please! I watched a TH-cam video by Claire Smith called "Who Makes Fragrances And Owns The Most Popular Designer Perfume Brands..." According to Claire's research almost all Designer brands (with exception Chanel who remain in-housel) outsource and lease out fragrance manufacture to one of around 10 huge conglomerate companies. Surprisingly even a few Niche houses, Jo Malone, Killian and BDK for example have apparently been acquired by some of these huge conglomerates. It shouldn't have come as a surprise, with huge parent companies now owning just about everything we buy and consume including food resources and the media.
