Keegan is the reason I love football, met him at a talk in and he gave me a hug. I could have cried the house down, what a truly wonderful person. You will never meet a Geordie who doesn’t love Kevin Keegan!

Thanks for sharing that. Kevin Keegan is one of the very few people I'd call a legend, He's also the most genuine person you'll ever meet. I remember a story from someone who wrote a letter to Kevin when he was manager, asking if he could donate some NUFC memorabilia for a charity fund raising afternoon in a local village. Kevin turned up at the event unannounced and spent a few hours there. He didn’t ask for anything or want any thanks, he just wanted to give something back to the people of the Northeast.
It's about time he got a statue at St James's

Those were great times, standing, jumping and singing in the Strawberry corner.

Keegan was so right in this interview. Beardsley would destroy english football alongside Andy Cole 3 years later at the age of 30, AND become even better. Gold

Brings back great memories this, I wasn’t born til 98 but when I was a bairn I used to just sit and watch all the old videos on repeat everyday then go play football, score a goal and shout SHEARERRR🙋🏼‍♂️

(Shearer was obviously my time but I played at Wallsend boys club like him and always wanted to be the next Alan Shearer like everyone else)

Such a pity that the entertainers didn't win the league,it would have been great for football, from a Liverpool supporter.

I know this is Keegans tribute to others but more than anything this video shows to me thatt Kevin Keegan was and still is a most incredible humble and knowledge human being. Without compare.

Incredible how he knew so much about players he never saw play. Load of crap

Had this on a bootleg VHS my old man bought on holiday in Portugal. Never seen it without the dodgy tracking!

Can add a few of KK’s signings to that list now and probably a few of Eddie Howe’s too 😁

Impossible to argue with a one-time player and manager who chooses a set-up of 4-4-2 trying to use players who played the old formation of 2 fullbacks; a centre half who filled in the middle (but also moved forward). Frank Brennan was actually almost as fast Jackie Milburn. Hard to believe, but they ran in the same handicap in the Morpeth Olympic Games in the early 1950s. Two wing halfs who linked with the 2 inside forwards and wingers; 2 wingers who took the balls passed out, and a middle man (Nº9) who, along with the inside forwards, scored the passes into the middle. His 4-4-2 does not suit the abilities of most of the older players, and that is why he has more of the recent players in it.
I accept this is time limited and others have played for Newcastle since then. I could give a team based on the old formation, but not a 4-4-2. As Jock Stein said "Give me two wingers and a centre forward, and we will beat anybody."

I really enjoyed this with all the great players from the past. I was eight when I saw my first Newcastle game against Everton in the sixties. Iv'e seen some great nights of football at St Jame's park, the greatest night was the fairs cup win in 1969 when I was still at school. I'm glad Kev put five of the players that I regard as some of the best in his final eleven with the most exciting hit man that Iv'e ever seen Supermac from that time. Memories
