This brought back some memories. Not sure who will care but here goes :P I've been playing for a long time. Back in the early 2000's Limit Hold'em was popular. Very fun game but can be extremely aggravating, you pretty much can't stop your opponent from seeing the river if they want to. It was high stakes and I was a very aggressive player. I remember one hand in particular that was lucky and funny. My opponent and I had been battling hard and trying to manintain the initiative in many hands by aggressive back and forth raising. I had QJo and it was 3 or 4 bets preflop. The flop came 943 and he bet, I raised, he reraised, and I capped it. Turn brought an 8 and I capped it again, still with nothing. The river brought a T so out of nowhere I had the nuts. Pretty much no way to put me on that. He bet, I raised, and I don't recall if it went further. He was disgusted lol. But that was part of the chaos and madness of the game, it got so wild. I really miss those days, in many ways I enjoyed it more than No Limit. The game is still played but probably 1% as popular as it used to be. I remember when No Limit was getting popular around 2003, the donkeys were everywhere. I used to get AK in preflop against A9o and stack people for $2000. It wasn't that uncommon. There were so many ridiculously bad players, it was crazy. Because a lot of them had come right from Limit and had no idea what they were doing. The books on NHL were not great and just about everyone was terrible. It's insane to me how far the game has come. The solvers sort of ruined the game in a sense because a lot of the mystery is gone. Lots of things now are fairly simple to see but back then it was much more open to the imagination!
I hate them. I was forced to adapt and use them as my old techniques were waning in win rate. Definitely took a lot of fun out of the game. Entertaining to play with solvers for a bit but nowhere near as fun as how the game used to be.@@peterlohnes1
He's also done ok on Hustler Live. Having $250k in front of him when he ran As into Ks and Ks, then having $300k and flopping straight flush vs. nut flush.
Mariano creates his own luck. When you're willing to bluff with nothing, give action, and trust your instincts, you get rewarded. He doesn't punt, he doesn't tilt, he's easily the best of the poker vloggers.

the solvers DEFINITELY ruined the game, and it wont be long before the solvers will be connected DURING play.
