Thanks for sharing. I’m currently doing the same. Have gone through nearly all Elektron boxes. Then fell into Erica Synths - have the Bassline, Zen Delay, AcidBox III, Perskons, and OTO Bam. Have the new NightVerb on the way and that will swap out the OTO with that.
Way more fun using the ES gear, more playable, mostly knob per function and the knobs are great.
I may add an LRX but kinda determined to learn the Perkons properly before I do that. Yeah the Perkons is large, it is light and I’m not really doing any gigs.
Might also add a boutique Roland or Korg and a 1010 Blue Box and then I am done. Heaps of sounds a direct control, very performative and spontaneous. The Elektron boxes are just way to constrained in design. Reckon many people will eventually do the same. Elektron may need to redesign their platform but given the release of the DT2 that might be the platform for the next 5-10 years.
ES is refreshing and have heaps of potential.

Yeah the Perkons would have been my choice as well but for now it was to heavy in weight and price. Elektron would need some new twists on their sequencers but I think their concept is more seeing their boxes as setup controllers, as we‘ve just seen with the DT2 with additional MIDI tracks. Their machines get more and more complex with each update (well IF they get one … seems their mid range is in focus right now). It’s nice don’t get me wrong they update with new features is great but for my usecase not the best choice and too much menu diving.

I was disappointed to find out that the zen delay doesnt overload like a true dub delay. I'm wondering if you have seen the torso T1 sequencer? I had thought that the oxi one would offer a more immediate workflow since it has a larger amount of input controls, but since watching some videos i feel that the way the torso has been designed was extremely well planned out to optimize the possibilities with the least number of buttons and knobs. So I feel the torso very much lends itself to a fully improvisational workflow.

Yes I’ve tested the torso. The concept is nice, but I decided to stick with the onboard sequencers for now coz adding external sequencers is more gear to pack and carry and it’s making the setup more complex as well (and I want to achieve the opposite). I had the square pyramid for a while and wasn’t really happy as the complexity of the setup raised a lot. So for now I will keep it hardware sequencer free :) what you mean with „Overload“ in terms of the Delay ?

    Hi 59,
Thank you for this open journey through your setup. I can relate to that, and now I know why my Elektron stuff was not ticking the boxes like I wished.
Conclusion for me is also to not go Erica.
I think maybe Push + an individual midi controller and bus groups with effects could be the combination that has it all. We will See 😅

I'm currently feeling the same about my Elektron setup. I love the machines but for me I'm not able to vibe with them in a spontaneous way. I noticed that when doing some live shows. It felt too contrived and I felt a bit bored

Exactly my feeling man, yes. Well know the situation turned entirely around - the drumbox is full of bugs that gets me nervous playing live haha not sure if that’s the feeling I need to achieve. But I can feel you saying you are a bit bored with them.

Interesting, thanks! Following my previous comment on your performance video 10 days ago, it feels like you answered my question personally. ;) I bought both of the devices and I like them very much. However, I'm having trouble incorporating them into my setup, which mostly consists of Elektron boxes.
Maybe, like you, I should focus on playing with just those two devices. Regarding the LXR, it's well known for being a pretty buggy machine. The behavior you described has never happened to me, but I've experienced a lot of other weird issues. It seems like reboot the machine does the trick but not a great solution for live performances ... Everyone is hoping for an update, but it doesn't seem likely to happen. Cheers,

Hey thanks for leaving your thoughts (again). Just subbed to your YT nice stuff. I tried to get these ES synths hooked up with the rest of my gear but for now I leave it alone. I have the same problems and can’t Incorporate it with the others. One reason is that they are almost every day out of tune hahaha how do you use yours right now? Also in a separated way? The LxR seems to save kit files wrong on my machine - the mentioned error happens to me only with specific patterns. When I use others it disappears. Still a bummer. But I love the sound so much that I don’t want to sell it right now and give it some more tries.

@@59Perlen Thanks for checking out my humble TH-cam channel. I consider myself more of a sound artist than an electronic musician. As a result, I don’t use my equipment often, so when I do find the time, I forget how everything works. I obviously have to many gears. Thanks for the inspiration of concentring only on both of these machines, that’s exactly what I’m going to do. I’ll definitely keep them because I love their sound and they’re beauties, especially the DB01. Cheers,
