Abel Damina's recent criticism of Catholic teachings and the use of the Bible is MISGUIDED! The Catholic Mass is full of prayers that come from both the Old and New Testaments. FAULTY RESPONSE TO DAMINA BY SOME CATHOLIC PRIESTS: THE SPECTATORS VIEW. OPENING ADDRESS For a start, I want to thank the man of God, Dr Abel Damina for flashing a torchlight on the Catholic Church and her doctrines. This really has brought the Catholic Church to a limelight and I am sure that some Catholics are at the moment rethinking their stand as Catholics. Man of God, I also wish to appreciate you so much for using the approach of Socratic irony, 'that Catholics do not read the Bible' to bring out the hidden masquerades in the Catholic Church. This act of yours has not only called the Catholic Church out but has proven beyond doubt that Catholics ( Priests) do not only read the Bible ( biblio in Greek, meaning just book) but they understand the hermeneutics of the scriptures which gives rise to scriptural exegesis( the scripture as it applies to cultural context, its implication and the situation that occasioned the writing) and aexegesis( The tendencies to apply the scripture to conventional reality). If not for the apt exposition by the most revered Man of God, Dr Damina, who could have believed that Catholic priests go deep in studying the fabrics and the nucleus of the history that gave birth to the church in general? The Man of God as being used by God to expose the Catholic Church has dug out the fact that for the Catholic priests to be qualified to read and interpret the Bible, that they must study three languages- Hebrew, Greek and Latin and must pass those language courses with at least a 'B'. Are these not the three original languages that characterised the stages of the translation of the scripture? So I think that Dr Abel Damina deserves a praise rather than a fight. MINUTES/MATTERS ARISING The man of God, has clearly raised several points concerning the obscurity surrounding the Catholic Church and her doctrines and the fact that, to him, some of those things are obsolete, barbaric, Idolatrous and unscriptural. Those seeming evil practices range from THE CATHOLIC MASS, THE CATHOLIC CONFESSION, THE HOLY COMMUNION, THE CATHOLIC USE OF IMAGES, UNDUE REGARDS FOR THE CATHOLIC PRIESTHOOD, THE WORSHIP OF MARY and other sundry 'oddities' in the Catholic Church. And the man of God in his kind of wisdom has clearly swept through several scriptural passages to make his points. These points, to me as a lay spectator in this battlefield are psychologically persuasive. Seeing his first video, which was a response to what a Catholic priest wrote as a rejoinder to his notion of the Holy Eucharist, I was personally amazed at his intellectualism and his mode of presentation. I humbly wish to say that the man of God is 'well-read'. In fairness to the man of God, those doctrines could appear obscure and hard to understand, especially when you are not in the Catholic fold. My man of God explained clearly how the Catholic alignment to those obsolete traditions contradict the doctrine of the mystery of salvation, considering the place of the finished work of Christ in our Christian journey. Since the beginning of this ecclesiastical duel, the man of God has been reading and researching in a bid to demystifying the highly acclaimed Catholic Church. And several podcasts and broadcasts have been released by him on the Internet space in consistent substantiation of his claims. Many non Catholics (as well as Catholics ) have followed keenly as they watch the Catholic Church being 'demystified' by the Man of God in a selection of unfriendly tones and languages. OTHER MATTERS ARISING And I worry for the Catholic Church and her response. I have several faults in their reply to the humble man of God. I feel they might not make a headway to victory in this expository and analytical match. Why did I say so? Looking at the person of the Man of God Dr Abel Damina and that of the Catholic priests, I see a case of an improper fraction. Dr Damina has just found a new way of 'feeling himself' in his aloneness by looking for who to scratch to make internet headlines while the Catholic priests who do not need to canvas for attention have so much to attend to on the parishfront than to sequester themselves to an internet match with an attention-seeker. I see that the priests who have responded to him have done him so much honour by giving him the latitude to talk on a matter that predates the existence of the church that crashed out of the church that gave birth to the church which he later joined and then eloped with a few members. Is it not degrading for a Catholic priest who have gone through a rigorous 12 years study for the sole reason of the gospel to square a debate with a man whose 3months pastoral school was enough to earn him a title of a pastor, with a CAC certificate to own a ministry? Is this not the kind of situation which makes Socrates say ' he who knows not that he knows not is a fool...?' Has it not become clear to any reasonable person that being loud and lousy does not translate into oratory or eloquence? Have we not seen clearly that Subjecting Dr Damina's intuitive interpretation of the scripture to proper scale, suggests a psychological persuasion against rational convinction? Are there no full scale contradictions all around his explanation? Condescending to an argumententative level with that type reduces the office of a priest owing to the fact that a well-trained catechumen is already an equal match for him. But then I give kudos to the priests who have ventured some high-sounding explanations to his one sided addiction to the 'finished work of Christ', which we all know that it's anchored on the mystery of salvation. Salvation as a course unit takes an average learner three years of 3 credit load to learn and understand, and not the 3-month apprenticeship kind of training which our dear Dr Damina received and he is now tweeting like a wayward adolescent. I was tempted to fault any kind of response to Dr Damina but to set the records straight, an answer is needed to his public display of ignorance. AOB Let me talk on the matters arising from Dr Damina's Theological misappropriation, from a layman's understanding. 1. The Mystery of salvation - This is the premise upon which Dr Damina builds all his arguments. What is salvation? Salvation is chiefly the package delivered to all believers through the life, suffering and the death of Christ. In this package are two major phenomena ( DELIVERANCE from the flesh, the world and the devil, and then RESTORATION of all that was lost through the influence of the flesh, the world and the devil). Gal 3:13-14; 2 Cor. 5:21; Rom 6:6; 2corith 9;8; Rom 6:8-9; Rom 6:23; 8. What is in Deliverance in the mystery of salvation? In salvation, we are JUSTIFIED ( a sinner given the status of a righteous man, not by his efforts); we are REGENERATED (God bringing the man who was dead in sin back to life by His act of mercy- being born again) we are ADOPTED as children of God by the act of His Fatherhood The 3 phases of salvation are-JUSTIFICATION (salvation from the penalty of past sin), SANCTIFICATION (salvation by grace to deal with the effect of the present sin) and GLORIFICATION ( salvation from the future presence of sin). Let me note here that if this topic is understood from Dr Damina's theo-logic, a believer would derail because he has a blank cheque of forgiveness even of the sins yet to be committed. And to caution against this kind of mentality, Paul the apostle would warn the philipian church to '... work out their salvation with fear and trembling ' phil 2:12. The author of the letter to the Hebrew 2:1-5, stress that attention be paid to the matters of salvation, so that we don't think like our Dear Dr Damina. 2. The Holy Mass- The Catholic Mass is the source and summit of the Catholic worship. This is so because it covers the life, the instructions and the actions of Christ. In the context of the Mass, Prayers are offered, scriptures are read and preached, and the mystery of the Holy Eucharist is reenacted. Sadly, the man of God does not understand and does not humble himself to ask for understanding. His headache in the Holy Mass is the Holy Communion. I understand, like Santosh Thankachan said, that it is easier to wake someone who is sleeping than the one who is pretending to sleep, but I would still speak from a lay spectator's view point. Dr Damina claimed that the institution of the Holy Eucharist was a once and for all thing and that it is stupid to repeat it now that Jesus Christ is alive and in heaven. Maybe he has never read 1 Corinthians 10:16( Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ?); 1 Corinth 11:23-29 still stresses in explicit terms the importance of a daily reenactment of the Eucharist, despite that our Dear Man of God is propounding that it is obsolete, barbaric and Idolatrous. Maybe Apostle Paul was as mistaken as the Catholics who do not read the Bible so they cannot have any proper Bible engagement. CONCLUDING REMARK I studied the socio-anthropological setting of his Church and I observed that the leftover few of his church members are not excited by his teaching; aside the fact that the church pews are embarrassingly vacant, the ones around are indifferent to his teaching. A clear indication that several of them don't accept his teaching but for the respect for a man of God. And these points, I will make it short as possible. 1) You claim the man of God only did 3 months, and can't be compared to a prost who did 12 years, well for your information, this Dr Damina has 2 PhDs. In theology and in Philosophy. I don't think you can get that in 3months. Added to it a 40 years active pastoring experience. I'm sure none of your Rev Fr (who actually started this "attack" have that experience). At least I know Fr Oluoma and Fr Kelvin Ugwu who started this nonsense.so get this first. You are wrong in that !! 2) You quoted 1 Corinthians 10:16, but you shy away from verse 17 that says "...for we being many are one bread..." You should have known that the context of this statement is different from Matthew 26:26-28 when Jesus took the bread and the wine and share. Because the essence of Jesus's action was for the remission or forgiveness of sin and eternal life. Now this church in Corinth has that already, but they are carnal church, (as he has told them in 1 Corinthians 3:1 KJV, so he will need to use parables, to communicate to them. And that is the startup of that talk, which culminate in that chapter 11 of that 1 Corinthians. So in nutshell, Apostle Paul was using the parables of bread and wine to deal with love among brethren and the need to discern each other. Not that they should be eating something. The question is how many eternal life will a man has?. Every Sunday you are calling Jesus down to die again and again, to offer eternal life again and again. Meanwhile in your Bible, you read it there that it is once sacrifice. . And if y'all claim that you want to be reminding people about Jesus action of forgiveness of sins and eternal life, then it's not about performing it again in Eucharist or Holy Communion, it's by teaching. Letting people know the sacrifice of Jesus is ONCE and FOR ALL.. That is and has been the argument here. Also there had been a challenge to you people to go study what is Passover, what is breaking of bread and what is the Lord's supper. These actions are not the same as Eucharist not it's same as holy Communion . You people should not be exposing your ignorance out here plz. 3) You claim the man doesn't have members, I see you just noticed him of late, I will not blame you. Pls. Since you have access to some Catholic teachings document, try to read for yourself, the Catholic Creed/Credo. You will understand more the church's position as regards the death and resurrection of Christ. Why do you think you can interpret the Catholic teachings better than the Catholics? You made lots of errors in your interpretation of the Church's beliefs and teachings about the Holy Eucharist (the body and blood of Christ). It's called Holy Communion and that truly defines the context which you have so misquoted and misinterpreted in your attack against the Church and order of the priest hood. You got it all wrong. Your perspective over these major subjects are quite obscure and antagonistic. I think you should have just asked the Catholics to explain their teachings about the priest hood and the Holy Communion. If they explain to you, you'll realize how far you have polarized the very salient issues of faith as if they're worth nothing! You can't preach the gospel or theology better than the Catholic Church. The same gospel you preach is not different from the gospel the Church preaches, except in the areas you decided to differ by outrightly criticizing her teachings, practices of faith and the hierarchy of the Church. @ almost every book in the Bible is named after its respective author. Now as your confused pastor has stated the “Bible” which is a collection of all the writings of the prophets, gospels and letters of the Apostles was compiled by the Catholic Church. Another point to note here is that there is only one church, which is the Catholic Church as referenced by St Ignatius. If there was another Church asides the Catholic Church we wouldn’t be able to collate the scriptures into what we now call the Bible. The only time in history there was a mention of any Christian group different from the Catholic Church was after the Protestant reformation which was evident with the different versions of the Bible we have today.

Abel Damina's recent criticism of Catholic teachings and the use of the Bible is MISGUIDED!
The Catholic Mass is full of prayers that come from both the Old and New Testaments. Apart from the major four readings from the Bible others are:

FAULTY RESPONSE TO DAMINA BY SOME CATHOLIC PRIESTS: THE SPECTATORS VIEW.
OPENING ADDRESS
For a start, I want to thank the man of God, Dr Abel Damina for flashing a torchlight on the Catholic Church and her doctrines. This really has brought the Catholic Church to a limelight and I am sure that some Catholics are at the moment rethinking their stand as Catholics. Man of God, I also wish to appreciate you so much for using the approach of Socratic irony, 'that Catholics do not read the Bible' to bring out the hidden masquerades in the Catholic Church. This act of yours has not only called the Catholic Church out but has proven beyond doubt that Catholics ( Priests) do not only read the Bible ( biblio in Greek, meaning just book) but they understand the hermeneutics of the scriptures which gives rise to scriptural exegesis( the scripture as it applies to cultural context, its implication and the situation that occasioned the writing) and aexegesis( The tendencies to apply the scripture to conventional reality). If not for the apt exposition by the most revered Man of God, Dr Damina, who could have believed that Catholic priests go deep in studying the fabrics and the nucleus of the history that gave birth to the church in general? The Man of God as being used by God to expose the Catholic Church has dug out the fact that for the Catholic priests to be qualified to read and interpret the Bible, that they must study three languages- Hebrew, Greek and Latin and must pass those language courses with at least a 'B'. Are these not the three original languages that characterised the stages of the translation of the scripture? So I think that Dr Abel Damina deserves a praise rather than a fight.
MINUTES/MATTERS ARISING
The man of God, has clearly raised several points concerning the obscurity surrounding the Catholic Church and her doctrines and the fact that, to him, some of those things are obsolete, barbaric, Idolatrous and unscriptural. Those seeming evil practices range from THE CATHOLIC MASS, THE CATHOLIC CONFESSION, THE HOLY COMMUNION, THE CATHOLIC USE OF IMAGES, UNDUE REGARDS FOR THE CATHOLIC PRIESTHOOD, THE WORSHIP OF MARY and other sundry 'oddities' in the Catholic Church. And the man of God in his kind of wisdom has clearly swept through several scriptural passages to make his points. These points, to me as a lay spectator in this battlefield are psychologically persuasive. Seeing his first video, which was a response to what a Catholic priest wrote as a rejoinder to his notion of the Holy Eucharist, I was personally amazed at his intellectualism and his mode of presentation. I humbly wish to say that the man of God is 'well-read'. In fairness to the man of God, those doctrines could appear obscure and hard to understand, especially when you are not in the Catholic fold. My man of God explained clearly how the Catholic alignment to those obsolete traditions contradict the doctrine of the mystery of salvation, considering the place of the finished work of Christ in our Christian journey. Since the beginning of this ecclesiastical duel, the man of God has been reading and researching in a bid to demystifying the highly acclaimed Catholic Church. And several podcasts and broadcasts have been released by him on the Internet space in consistent substantiation of his claims. Many non Catholics (as well as Catholics ) have followed keenly as they watch the Catholic Church being 'demystified' by the Man of God in a selection of unfriendly tones and languages.
OTHER MATTERS ARISING
And I worry for the Catholic Church and her response. I have several faults in their reply to the humble man of God. I feel they might not make a headway to victory in this expository and analytical match. Why did I say so?
Looking at the person of the Man of God Dr Abel Damina and that of the Catholic priests, I see a case of an improper fraction. Dr Damina has just found a new way of 'feeling himself' in his aloneness by looking for who to scratch to make internet headlines while the Catholic priests who do not need to canvas for attention have so much to attend to on the parishfront than to sequester themselves to an internet match with an attention-seeker. I see that the priests who have responded to him have done him so much honour by giving him the latitude to talk on a matter that predates the existence of the church that crashed out of the church that gave birth to the church which he later joined and then eloped with a few members.
Is it not degrading for a Catholic priest who have gone through a rigorous 12 years study for the sole reason of the gospel to square a debate with a man whose 3months pastoral school was enough to earn him a title of a pastor, with a CAC certificate to own a ministry? Is this not the kind of situation which makes Socrates say ' he who knows not that he knows not is a fool...?' Has it not become clear to any reasonable person that being loud and lousy does not translate into oratory or eloquence? Have we not seen clearly that Subjecting Dr Damina's intuitive interpretation of the scripture to proper scale, suggests a psychological persuasion against rational convinction? Are there no full scale contradictions all around his explanation?
Condescending to an argumententative level with that type reduces the office of a priest owing to the fact that a well-trained catechumen is already an equal match for him. But then I give kudos to the priests who have ventured some high-sounding explanations to his one sided addiction to the 'finished work of Christ', which we all know that it's anchored on the mystery of salvation. Salvation as a course unit takes an average learner three years of 3 credit load to learn and understand, and not the 3-month apprenticeship kind of training which our dear Dr Damina received and he is now tweeting like a wayward adolescent. I was tempted to fault any kind of response to Dr Damina but to set the records straight, an answer is needed to his public display of ignorance.

Let me talk on the matters arising from Dr Damina's Theological misappropriation, from a layman's understanding.
1. The Mystery of salvation - This is the premise upon which Dr Damina builds all his arguments. What is salvation? Salvation is chiefly the package delivered to all believers through the life, suffering and the death of Christ. In this package are two major phenomena ( DELIVERANCE from the flesh, the world and the devil, and then RESTORATION of all that was lost through the influence of the flesh, the world and the devil). Gal 3:13-14; 2 Cor. 5:21; Rom 6:6; 2corith 9;8; Rom 6:8-9; Rom 6:23; 8.
What is in Deliverance in the mystery of salvation? In salvation, we are JUSTIFIED ( a sinner given the status of a righteous man, not by his efforts); we are REGENERATED (God bringing the man who was dead in sin back to life by His act of mercy- being born again) we are ADOPTED as children of God by the act of His Fatherhood
The 3 phases of salvation are-JUSTIFICATION (salvation from the penalty of past sin), SANCTIFICATION (salvation by grace to deal with the effect of the present sin) and GLORIFICATION ( salvation from the future presence of sin). Let me note here that if this topic is understood from Dr Damina's theo-logic, a believer would derail because he has a blank cheque of forgiveness even of the sins yet to be committed. And to caution against this kind of mentality, Paul the apostle would warn the philipian church to '... work out their salvation with fear and trembling ' phil 2:12. The author of the letter to the Hebrew 2:1-5, stress that attention be paid to the matters of salvation, so that we don't think like our Dear Dr Damina.
2. The Holy Mass- The Catholic Mass is the source and summit of the Catholic worship. This is so because it covers the life, the instructions and the actions of Christ. In the context of the Mass, Prayers are offered, scriptures are read and preached, and the mystery of the Holy Eucharist is reenacted. Sadly, the man of God does not understand and does not humble himself to ask for understanding. His headache in the Holy Mass is the Holy Communion. I understand, like Santosh Thankachan said, that it is easier to wake someone who is sleeping than the one who is pretending to sleep, but I would still speak from a lay spectator's view point. Dr Damina claimed that the institution of the Holy Eucharist was a once and for all thing and that it is stupid to repeat it now that Jesus Christ is alive and in heaven. Maybe he has never read 1 Corinthians 10:16( Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ?); 1 Corinth 11:23-29 still stresses in explicit terms the importance of a daily reenactment of the Eucharist, despite that our Dear Man of God is propounding that it is obsolete, barbaric and Idolatrous. Maybe Apostle Paul was as mistaken as the Catholics who do not read the Bible so they cannot have any proper Bible engagement.
CONCLUDING REMARK
I studied the socio-anthropological setting of his Church and I observed that the leftover few of his church members are not excited by his teaching; aside the fact that the church pews are embarrassingly vacant, the ones around are indifferent to his teaching. A clear indication that several of them don't accept his teaching but for the respect for a man of God.

I want to be tempted to say you copied this somewhere, but if you are the one that wrote this, then you try. At least with long epistle.
But I will take you on 3 points. And these points, I will make it short as possible.
1) You claim the man of God only did 3 months, and can't be compared to a prost who did 12 years, well for your information, this Dr Damina has 2 PhDs. In theology and in Philosophy. I don't think you can get that in 3months. Added to it a 40 years active pastoring experience.
I'm sure none of your Rev Fr (who actually started this "attack" have that experience). At least I know Fr Oluoma and Fr Kelvin Ugwu who started this nonsense.so get this first. You are wrong in that !!
2) You quoted 1 Corinthians 10:16, but you shy away from verse 17 that says "...for we being many are one bread..." You should have known that the context of this statement is different from Matthew 26:26-28 when Jesus took the bread and the wine and share. Because the essence of Jesus's action was for the remission or forgiveness of sin and eternal life. Now this church in Corinth has that already, but they are carnal church, (as he has told them in 1 Corinthians 3:1 KJV, so he will need to use parables, to communicate to them. And that is the startup of that talk, which culminate in that chapter 11 of that 1 Corinthians.
So in nutshell, Apostle Paul was using the parables of bread and wine to deal with love among brethren and the need to discern each other. Not that they should be eating something.
The question is how many eternal life will a man has?.
Every Sunday you are calling Jesus down to die again and again, to offer eternal life again and again. Meanwhile in your Bible, you read it there that it is once sacrifice. .
And if y'all claim that you want to be reminding people about Jesus action of forgiveness of sins and eternal life, then it's not about performing it again in Eucharist or Holy Communion, it's by teaching. Letting people know the sacrifice of Jesus is ONCE and FOR ALL.. That is and has been the argument here.
Also there had been a challenge to you people to go study what is Passover, what is breaking of bread and what is the Lord's supper. These actions are not the same as Eucharist not it's same as holy Communion . You people should not be exposing your ignorance out here plz.
3) You claim the man doesn't have members, I see you just noticed him of late, I will not blame you. Maybe you will just take his random videos on TH-cam, just forward them to the end when he is about rounding up, you will see whether he has pews or not. Don't allow the chairs he has in his church to decide you.
Added to that, the man has multiple thousands of people following online. I am one of them. This January will make it 2 years and I can tell you my life has been transformed.

So finally, there are a lot to learn as individual in Catholic, not as institution, because it will take individuals with the truth to change an institution . And that truth must be compelling and persuasive. And that is what I see Dr Damina doing here. Man is not attacking, he is just trowing light. Thank goodness, you agree Catholic has areas they need to change things, so instead of see Dr Damina talk as an attack, you can seize the opportunity to work on the change from inside.

Though, in your bid to want to correct, you're anxiously delving into matters beyond your full understanding. What is your background? Were you ever a Catholic?
Pls. Since you have access to some Catholic teachings document, try to read for yourself, the Catholic Creed/Credo. You will understand more the church's position as regards the death and resurrection of Christ.
Why do you think you can interpret the Catholic teachings better than the Catholics? You made lots of errors in your interpretation of the Church's beliefs and teachings about the Holy Eucharist (the body and blood of Christ). It's called Holy Communion and that truly defines the context which you have so misquoted and misinterpreted in your attack against the Church and order of the priest hood. You got it all wrong. Your perspective over these major subjects are quite obscure and antagonistic.
I think you should have just asked the Catholics to explain their teachings about the priest hood and the Holy Communion. If they explain to you, you'll realize how far you have polarized the very salient issues of faith as if they're worth nothing!
You can't preach the gospel or theology better than the Catholic Church. The same gospel you preach is not different from the gospel the Church preaches, except in the areas you decided to differ by outrightly criticizing her teachings, practices of faith and the hierarchy of the Church.

If there was another Church asides the Catholic Church we wouldn’t be able to collate the scriptures into what we now call the Bible.
The only time in history there was a mention of any Christian group different from the Catholic Church was after the Protestant reformation which was evident with the different versions of the Bible we have today.
