  • This is a pretty nice valve spring compression tool. it will work a on a huge variety of engines and is compact and steady to operate and has an adjustable width spring fork. being a offset tool it gives you full and easy access to the valve retainers instead of the puller types which want to slip off and are hard to get at the valve stem.

In the space of five minutes, I have learned a lot about engine valves. I also realized that one of those gizmos is in the garage - always wondered what it was. And a heartfelt thanks for sharing your knowledge and passion about things mechanical.

Note that the cylinder needs to be pressurized with an overhead valve head, otherwise the valve can fall in to the cylinder (which then requires removing the head).

You can make sure the cylinder that your working on is at top dead center and put shoe lace or rope in the spark plug hole that way the valve doesn’t fall in

Ha! The Chrysler products! They usually shed valve seats long before stem seals.

Hello Catus, I live about an hour away from Lancaster Pa and find many KD tools locally at flea markets and garage/estate sales I have that KD valve spring compressor but it doesn’t get much use. I just used that same style giant valve spring compressor (vintage Bonney) when I built my Mopar 400 last year . It worked very well and saved me from a lot of grief. I always look forward to your videos.

This should work for a 99 Acura RL Exhaust Valves, to replace the Valve Stem Seals. The Exhaust valves won’t allow a top style valve spring compressor tool. I’ll order one and update my review. Thanks for the video.

I was armed with a pickle fork with a long ass handle when I learned the virtue of the Ford hot water heater. What you have there is a really nice piece! I doubt it would fit a V8-60 but for most of the inlines and the 8BAs I’m sure it would be great. I have to wonder if they had a specific kind of explosive or kryptonite pliers to get the key shaped keepers out…

Hello! I like that K-D spring compressor a lot! Now, I just need to find and air fitting for the cylinder to hold the valve up. Any Ideas?? Thanks and cheers from Motown/Dearborn.

I have a valve spring compressor like that but smaller for Briggs and Stratton engines.

Would it be ideal for todays cars like my 5.7L 05 Ram 1500 Hemi, or my 2.5L 94 jeep Wrangler S. Model? For its tear down? While im doing my set collecting?
    Thanks for the thought Catus.

Was it made by the Amish Mafia? But they got some decent extortion money out of the company.
