Behringer VD400: Adjusting the Trim Pot

  • The VD400 has an internal calibration pot that adjusts the maximum delay time. Counter-clockwise increases the delay, but makes it sound grainier - you may or may not like the effect. In this video I'm running a sequence through my Korg ARP Odyssey with the pot initially at the tightest maximum delay, then adjusted to give the maximum time. The default setting is in the middle.
    The result sounds a lot like bitcrushing. Bucket brigade delays use analogue transistors to capture an analogue signal, but the clock pulse that drives them is discrete, so the result is surprisingly digital-sounding.
