That was Anthony Burger, who started/ Kingsmen ,then, w/ The Gaither Homecoming Friends. Then He Passed Away in 2006 on a Gaither's Homecoming Cruise. He brought GREAT ENERGY to His Ministry !
This is probably the best performance by Garry in his career! This song , with its tempo, suits his high pitched voice. I really enjoyed Big Jim’s testimony too. I believed he was indeed a saved man. Love to hear people tell their experience of grace.
Even as a child I used to love to hear these guys. When I grew in the Lord I realized I was chasing the anointing. We have a lot of great singers, but you can tell those who spend time in prayer. ❤️
The Doctor just told me that I have a year or less to live. My heart is dying. Jesus has told me that it won't be long now. I can't wait to walk that last mile with Jesus to meet his Father.
I heard the song after my 3 year old son passed of cancer. I tell myself he just had higher priorities than staying here with us. I cry every day, but I do have hope and comfort knowing that he is with Jesus, and I will see him again. 💔
God bless you for sharing this. If you know Jesus in your heart, you have the assurance, that one day, you WILL see him again. May the Holy Spirit Comfort your hurting heart. I'm right there with you; my husband passed only 8 years ago, and my Sweet Mother only 2 years ago.
I don't think there has ever been a group that had such a good time and enjoyed singing these wonderful Gospel songs more than The Kingsmen. I miss Big Jim, Anthony and the others that performed with them back in the day.
They've had some of the craziest stories to tell, too! 1:When Ernie Philips left the Kingsmen Quartet back in Late 1983, Jim Hamill was doing something somewhere, when this funny-looking young man, with kinda long hair, came up to him, and told him that he could sing Tenor. Jim took one look at him, and apparently didn't really like him at first glance...but they got to talkin', and Jim and Eldridge Fox gave that guy a chance. They told him that he'd have to get a haircut, and that he'd have to dress up, and learn their material...and the next thing you know, he was in! That was, of course, Garry Sheppard. There was another story, about how there was this small Plane that Jim and Ernie and some of the others had to use... They took off, and, down at the end of the Runway, they barely cleared the Treeline! Come to find out, they had a lot of weight onboard the Plane... and it was almost too much, what with Records and Tapes that they had to carry with 'em. In the meantime, Jim just barely got his door closed on that Plane. He had to sit up front. When they went to get out of the Plane, Jim just barely touched the unlocking apparatus on that door...and it popped open! It had barely been shut the entire trip...and, had Jim done anything to jar that door up in the air, that door woulda popped open, right then and there, and Jim Hamill woulda fell out of that Plane, and would've fallen to his death! There's a lot more I could tell, but I'll save it for later. Have a great day!
The “Kingsmen” sing in perfect harmony from the very depths of their souls. I was blessed to see them in person in Louisiana after my blessed father passed way in 1988. There was such an anointing in the building. I felt like “I Had Just Stopped By On My Way Home!”
Anthony Burger was his name... the greatest gospel pianist probably of ALL time! He passed away suddenly playing for God on one of the Gaither cruises. 😢 But he’s most likely playing for the angels on that golden piano. 😇
@@marvaeblanscett9492 Anthony was very fine. We were privileged to hear him live one time. There are others of his caliber that have also accompanied Gaither videos. I think every group that leaves home , hearth , and family to fulfill the Great Commission is God's favorite. Looks like a lot of fun, and it is, but when you see the world hru God's eyes, it leaves you with a heavy burden to see everyone saved. Those of us who have done our preaching from a song book, as our Bible, will never know what the impact has been on the Eternal souls until we get home.
