The format of capture the flag along with the generator mechanic was so insanely fun. I wish some passionate fan would make a reboot of Tribes Ascend, or even somebody make a copy cat game with the same mechanics.
In case you don't know, a new tribes game released this year, Tribes 3: Rivals. I hadn't heard of it, seems to have been no coverage of it, so just letting you know in case you're in the same boat.
Rowan M you'd think some dev would just pick up the title from hirez. The eSports potential is so massive for this game. The raw skill is incredible to watch.
this game had so much potential for competetive gaming, kind of sad the player base wasn't big enough and something like a competitive scene didn't really evolve :(
Because these days skill doesn't come down to speed but rather fast reflexes and slow calculated plays, interestingly FPSZ games have all of that but more, they just aren't as punishing to play.
Also a LOT because HiRez was a bunch of selfcentered fuckheads... For a while Tribes Ascend had a big and very healthy playerbase but most was asking and begging for pretty much the same changes, and HiRez just ignored it. Than, with the playerbase fading and people still begging for the same things, they decided to take their forum offline, the only real gathering place for the game at that time.. Fuck HiRez and their stupid bullshit, I hate them for doing this. They were all hype and shit about "bringing tribes back" and were even planning an MMO...All disregarded as their cashcow Smite grew. Hate them, hate hate hate them. Tribes Ascend was a good game, I miss it a tonne but the company.....vomit...

It's sad to think of the dead state of the game right now but this just highlights all the great moments that were possible.
I was fortunate to play this back on my old PC that honestly couldn't run the modern games at the time. Sadly I only joined the game after the Speed cap but still had a lot of fun during it's slow and painful death. No game comes close to the thrill of pure speed as this game. RIP tribes, I sure hope something comes along that recaptures what you brought to the table

Today people playing warzone and think its fast, or that it takes skill to aim, lol. The concept of Tribes as a skill-based competitive FPS eSport is a *GOLD MINE* for *any* proper developer to pick up. *Two Steps Needed* 1.Simplify loadouts (for casual viewers) into: Capper Chaser Defence Offence 2. Remove Hitscan weapons. Everything HAS to be skill shots. Step 3: rake in money as viewership of the world's most fun esport skyrockets.
No recent fps game has come close to Tribes: Ascend for me, I truly do hope some developer can bring back the amazing feeling of snatching the flag, flying 500 meters into the air and skiing across a battlefield just as Tribes did.
Tribes 3: Rivals just announced too, which right now looks like Tribes: Ascend remastered. My expectation for it is a bit low given that it's an ex Hi-Rez dev making it, but we'll see.
God once I got good with the Blinkfusor, I never switched back... Man I miss this game. Did the open beta for the "new one" but it just doesn't quite hit the same.

So this was the name of the game. I think I played it on release as me together with my friends were looking for a new game to play. I always was a top fragger and was always at the top of leader board in those pub servers (probly cuz the game was new and there were rarely good players) thats why I loved this game. Sadly reinstalled windows and forgot name of the game and found it only now, after so many years. Gun with the disk was my favorite. Hitting trickshots and predicting other player movement was satisfying asf
