Oh the things that young ones can get into! Childproofing- well…..good luck with trying to get Everything up and out of reach. But bobby-pins in receptacles and dirt sandwiches are good for you! Going on 72 and survived many years of situations that child protective would shudder about, common practice back when I was a kid. Common sense ( used to be horse sense ) cures many profits advice, and we are a wonderful bag of tricks that continues to amaze. Helicoils are standard practice on new production for ever in aircraft spark plugs, the constant need for removing requires it. Actually had a donated radial that had many bad plug holes, and Prat and Whitney had a factory refit kit to solve the problem. I was amazed that the engine was that old, and the simple resolution that cured the situation. Great sharing the tricks, sometimes people haven’t been exposed to the solutions that are so simple to experienced bolt strippers. You have to have broken, stripped, seized, drilled, tapped, cussed, and thrown parts and tools across the shop before you can claim to be a professional mechanic!

Nice presentation with the helicoils! I just saw a video earlier from Donny Walker showing his method for dog bolts in particular. He uses the keyed full inserts and says he has never once had one fail. They are expensive at about $8us each, but look very robust. You also need the installation tool to drive down the staking keys. I have a dog bolt to repair and I'm going to use a helicoil with red loctite for good measure.

That's awesome Dadda Tinman, congratulations buddy, it's certainly a moment to cherish. Wont be too long and she will be out in the shop with you...and slightly aggravating you because of 500 questions, grabbing every tool, top end, nuts and bolts etc. and confusing the heck out of you because you're trying to remember what is what. Take care man, keep it up and best wishes to the family

I just love to hear you talk about the family! Far too many men do not and that’s shameful to me. It’s so thrilling to hear that she’s crawling!
Great videos!! I don’t do Husqvarna but you teach so many other great things!! Like THIS!! Ordered my kit today. I’m now searching for one in imperial sizes. I’m in the US and we still get stuff either straight imperial or, a mix with metric. I suppose the tolerances are close enough that you could replace an imperial with a metric, but that makes it a nightmare for future repairs by either yourself or someone else.
Awesome episode friend! Keep ‘em comin and, keep us updated on the wee one!! A lot of us are grandparents and all the grandkids have been long through that (our youngest of 11 is now age 10 😮), so we can relive those joyful moments vicariously through you!!😎😊👊🏻

That's faster than throwing it away and buying a new one. I don't strip many threads anymore, but it happens. I have a whole drawer full of thread repair kits for this reason. I tend to use cheap taps to clean bolt holes when I wrench on engines. Call it preventive maintenance.

Good for Charlie, on the move at 8.5 months... wow. My youngest of three boys is 32...lol.
I bought and after market chain break for my 272xp first build and had to grind on the case inside where the clutch nut is to make it work. Only had to remove about a 16th of an inch of material and it works fine now. $80 cheaper.
I just ordered another one for the current 272xp I'm building, from a different company will see how that one is. I have the old style metal handle one but the knee-joint, spring, screw are unattainium. If anyone has some spare parts please message me. I would love to keep it original.
    Good video once again.

I can't remember if it's just helicoil brand or all thread repair inserts, but in aluminum, cast iron, and most any metal that's weaker than the bolt, it's actually stronger than original, once you put the insert in, which makes sense if you think about it, the weaker metal, aluminum in this case, has more surface area from the larger diameter hole, and the threads that touch the original bolt are now the heli-coil, and some sort of steel that's much tougher than original aluminum threads.

I’ve stripped out the plastic threads on my saw where the front handle bolts on. It’s the holes on the bottom. What do YOU think that I should do to repair the holes? I’m really aggravated that Husky just used the plastic as a female thread while using “sheet metal” screws for making a companion plastic female thread. Should I go with some sort of a nut-sert or should I attempt to put a real nut and real screw on it or will I have interference issues with the rest of the saw “body” if I choose to go that last route? Using monofilament fishing line for a cheap fix seems to not get it right as far as concerning a rigid screw should feel. I’m just wanting my 372 back in action.
Patiently awaiting responses from the Tinman or his followers 😊

Were waiting for our youngest girl to start crawling too shes getting up on all 4s but she's stuck at that stage where she doesn't get how to move what where lol or that she can use an arm AND a leg hahahaha cheers bud...I do have a question that I'm sure you've answered part of on here before but my memory is unfortunately shorter than my patience lol Do you do any hunting or fishing? I'm not sure on the lake situation out your way but I have a hunch you would really enjoy fly fishing!!
