    i think you can mod the krink paint stick to be softer while still keeping its permanent properties by making a crack oven (cut a soda-can in half and use the part with the pop tab as a stove, light a tea candle under it and use the top half as a pot) cut the stick into pieces, add it in, and toss in a little white paint or white oil pastel + a little vaseline (vaseline is what will soften it). melt it up and inject it back into the holder with a syringe or something. You can do this if u alr got the marker and ur not satisfied with it and u dont want ur money to go to waste.

    Anyone used the Edding 950 solid markers? Thoughts?
    Edit: I tried the black and white Edding 950 myself in the meantime.
    Where i live, you can buy them at the hardware store for around 4,50. According to the label, they are even made in Japan. Apropos Japan, i also tried a few Sakura solid markers and it seems like the ones from Edding are exactly the same. (Maybe they are even made by Sakura?) As i see it, only the label is different. If you peal off the labels, you wouldn't know which is which. But Edding only got four or five colors as far as i remember and you get only the black and the white ones at the hardware store.

    My man SCIZ!!! I'm glad to see your subs over 10k!!! Keep grinding, bro!!! Good edits and info, as always!!! I've been meaning to dive into these sticks for a while now.
    I've had an ArtPrimo SEMI jenk for a while now. I enjoy it and tags are pretty sturdy to weathering. But it's hella messy so I usually store it in a medical glove in my pocket. It's also not convenient for quick hits, say on a sidewalk somewhere. It's great for the privacy of bathrooms and stairwells where you have that extra minute to be clean about it both in style and mess wise. Anyway... you rock, bro. Always a pleasure to see you work. BIG UPS!! 💪🎨💣

    Morning! Soon as I got the notification, I started wondering if this was going to be yet another Markal B review...
    They're both fun for their own uses, but the part of them I hate most is packaging. Sakuras have caps that actually give you blisters, and Markals simply can't be stored without dirtying up a pocket. (Yes, I am completely disregarding every single other paint stick in this list. The 3 big boys are all that matter to me, lol)
    -- A lot of versatility is ruined by the fact that I have to store it in a ziploc bag, lest I get my walmart drip dirtied with the SCUM that is harmless paint. Simply disgraceful.
    Also, I made the mistake of getting a red one for my first, when I finally tried it. Sad that it's more of a pink. I'm used to Sakuras and their beautiful reds and blues that simply pop on a concrete pole. Often ended up not noticing my own tags :(
    But, oil beats alcohol at the end of the day. Simply being able to hit a metal pole on a misty morning at 6 am gives it a lot of strength against the Sakura. That's my favorite hour to get up, and being able to cut straight through water is a big benefit.
    Apologies for the super long comment, but it's 7 am on a Saturday and I have nothing better to do :D

    • @dontworrybeslappy
      @dontworrybeslappy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      very well stated, i can see where you are coming from with your opinion.

    • @ScizGraffiti
      @ScizGraffiti  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah the messiness with the markals is something I did briefly mention but it's the biggest complaint I hear about them from people as well. Definitely important to know about before trying any hobo marker but, I just see it as the nature of them and probably how they keep the price cheap for them too. Very good points though about the oil vs alcohol formulae though. I don't know quite as much about that so I'm glad you're able to bring that to light for everyone

    • @duka1.660
      @duka1.660 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your comment is NOT long enough!! Seriously tho if you're going to talk about what someone has just told you about a handful of different wax, greasy assed paint pens etc well WHY not?!?
      IMO the Sakura SUPA-STOOPA overly priced very small & most likely about 2½inches of mixed paint in there ASWELL! I was Sooo pissed...Also, I was very unimpressed that they failed to adhere on ANYTHING wet, or even wettish... Having to sleeve dry spots before said tag was the worst thing about them...I realise it's the amount of oils added to get an even flow with ALL those pretty colours but a big 👎 thumbs down to Sakura's paint mix pens.
      My regards & happy taggin' times to you! 🤣🤙

    1:55 i’m from Arizona and i can confirm it does get hot. there are two things
    1. it only gets hot in the summer. not all year round like people think it does
    2. the places where it DOES get hot are only in the southern and western portions of Arizona, AKA the lower desert portions. Places in Northern and Eastern Arizona (Flagstaff, Sedona, Show Low, Prescott, Williams, Kingman, the Grand Canyon, etc) hardly ever top 90 degrees F (32C) during the summer and have cold winters as low as -10F or -23C.
    Also, i tag in 100F (38C) degree heat (i’m from Phoenix) and i’m thankful as fuck that none of my paint sticks have melted 💀

    • @jeffbrownstain
      @jeffbrownstain 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ScizGraffiti Update on this;
      Not sure if its the wax I used or the particular paint and ink blend but grog doesn't like to deposit color after its bound to a wax. You get a lot of clear segments with chunks of color even though the whole stick looks densely pigmented.
      I made a few chapsticks but I need to get this down pat before its worth using.

    • @jeffbrownstain
      @jeffbrownstain 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Spent six hous of each day this week just drying out grog and otr paint to recover the pigment.
      One of these two doesnt like to dry very well, whichever one has the oil in it.
      I have about a gram of pigment in my mortar ready to be blended with some wax and linseed oil.
      I'm thinking any pigment will work, this final result definitely smells like some kinda iron-magnesium mix. Nothing special, so its the carrier blend that makes grog and otr paint special, and those cant be solidified with wax very well.

    My issues with markal b is they will never really dry. They can be smeared by the touch days after you write with them. Atleast that’s how the art primo ones felt.

    • @ScizGraffiti
      @ScizGraffiti  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah they definitely aren't the most permanent thing. I'm usually not too worried about that as long as it lasts through all weather. I haven't tried the AP ones specifically but I find the markals dry well enough usually. I mostly have only experience with them on one surface though, the freights haha. Might not dry as well on some more street surfaces

    Sciz man I’ve tried to tell you before, look up Thefseries. They make the same exact, precise splits as handmixed. He’s based out of California and ships to Canada for sure. His splits are top tier, I’ve got over 15 of them and won’t get them from any one else. Those split streakers that are “made” by art primo, are made by THEFSERIES. Thefseries has an art primo collab right now. He makes them and art primo puts their label on them. They’re a lot cheaper than hand mixed will ever be as well. Also, hand mixed for sure uses Sakura markers for their splits. If you watch their Instagram videos and stories you’ll see that it’s literally Sakura markers. They use the regular Sakura and the Japanese import Sakura. Hope you check them out, Thefseries would be another cool review and definitely more content for you! Hope this helps.
