AWESOME. excellent interview. For the record, the "Yee of little faith" video was a new PC flying in the 90s when aggressive low level tactics (same unit that did Deep Attack in Desert storm) were highly encouraged by the Chain Of Command. He flew it during the day and then was just a little off doing it at night flying under "System." He made a mistake, he learned from it and moved on. I flew with him in Iraq in 2011 and he was one of the best pilots I've ever seen. Bar none...

What a great interview with a self deprecating superstar. Dutch Moyer is great. I saw his interview on shrek's channel and it was excellent. I would highly recommend it. I still don't quite get the Mr Goodbar reference.
I literally had the exact same thing happened to me yesterday. Zeroing my new RMR and the booth next to me was a LEO. Just purchased a shadow systems (with a optic) and had racking issues (the round would get stuck) most likely from using a longer screw that was putting pressure on to his extractor. I came over to help him and he kept looking at his watch. Mind you the next day he was going to qualify to get this weapon his duty gun. He looked at me and said I'll figure it out tomorrow. I looked at him with this crazy look. I told him. You fix this now. There is an armor and downstairs go and talk to him. This will become your fucking life weapon. Get the pistol squared away and return up here. I watched him shoot. He was limp wristing. After 12yrs on the force he said he never learned more in that 1 hour I was with him. I consult for this place and he was in my class today for zeroing agencies new optic duty pistols. I never asked him to come. Ge came up to me after class and thanked me. These leos need to get squared away and know what to do. I completely miss the brotherhood more than anything. I had gotten screwed my whole civilian life. 7yrs to transition
Yeah unfortunately alot of LEO's can't shoot for shit and that's pretty crazy seeing as though these people are supose to be "professionals" and carry pistols for a living.
I wish he would have mentioned that Blithe after being shot during WWII, stayed in the Army was one of the first into Korea and was awarded a Silver Star and 2 Bronze Stars, one for Valor and later died on active duty at the rank of Master Sergeant.
Man oh man, what a similar Story for me. Four years Marines active duty Field Artillery cannoneer... Long days Three formations a day etc...motor pool and leadership sort of playing games not caring about us as a whole. Yep 👍 And also getting out then having this weird dissociation with the Civilian world.. re-entering the reserves and Promoting to Staff Sgt. Trying to get back on active duty..... Getting ALOT more out of the Military on my second Go around... Seemed up doing 21 years total.

Damn... Of all the video stories he told. "SuperPower" brought back some memories with a C-5A landing blackout w/ nodes short concrete runway during some training in 83. The audience was VIP (was told CIC) but the roll off of 2 semi trailer while plane was idling, and taking off had the pilots with the biggest balls flying it. 1/3 of the wing passed over coming and going. I didn't think it would stop when landing, and watched the brakes glow with full reverse on engines. It screamed like a live person being tortured landing from the engines helping stop it. Getting back in the air was just as wild. It looked so slow pass' n the wing over us, and I'll swear it took the tops off trees after using every inch of the runway. We really didn't think it was gonna make it. Who those pilots were, I'll never know, but after his story, I'd like to imagine they were the same ones flying in it. Serious skills.
We traveled from JBLM to FT.Bliss Texas and up into New mexico to do sub terrainin training. How to deal with chemical weapons nerve agents. How to simply navigate a cave that is occupied by hostils. It was some good shit and now it's a huge part of regiment
I use to know a guy who was OGA. I asked him once what the scariest thing he ever did was; I definitely did not expect his reply to be what it was; "ride in a helicopter". He said he didn't understand the physics of them and what kept them in the air so he preferred HALO/HAHO insertion over fast ropes and benches. The little bit about the air assault raid just reminded me of that for some reason.
I remember one time a Mosque freaked me out in the middle of the day it started going off and the only thing we made out it said was American soldier but luckily nothing happen but we were sure it was about to go down.

Ryan, Not sure if you will read my comment. I am not a vet and did not serve. I was 18 years old on 911. Eagle Scout, military town my grandfather was an Army sergeant. I played with his patches as a child. Some of our scout leaders were ex sf guys, I didn’t know that growing up. They would take us 12 yearolds on 40 - 50 mile hikes through the cascade mountains. We had to plan our own logistics. More than once I ran out of food a day before we got out. It informed the rest of my life. I like what Shrek said about treating kids like adults. I regret not serving. I ended up working as an aid worker in Burkina Faso and eventually became a psychiatric Nurse. I have childhood friends who served in elite units. As someone who now works in mental health, you have humanized and validated an extraordinary group of people. I gain a lot of help and insight from your work. Thank you

It varies I'm sure, but I knew a sweet lady that was married to a known CAG operator for years and I believe that is what ultimately led to their separation. He simply couldn't speak on what he did and kept it basic. Combined with never being able to speak on what you do then being gone way more than your regular husband or wife, often times on very short notice, it definitely takes a toll on relationships. I would say often it's a simple explanation (obviously not the full service list) or have fun with it and make it out as an extremely boring assignment with your current contract. Would like to hear some of those stories as well though

It varies I'm sure, but I knew a sweet lady that was married to a known CAG operator for years and I believe that is what ultimately led to their separation. He simply couldn't speak on what he did and kept it basic. Combined with never being able to speak on what you do then being gone way more than your regular husband or wife, often times on very short notice, it definitely takes a toll on relationships. I would say often it's a simple explanation (obviously not the full service list) or have fun with it and make it out as an extremely boring assignment with your current contract. Would like to hear some of those stories as well though
