When you were coming up on the grouse, how did you know they were there?
With those grouse i actually just saw them standing still. Topically my dog would smell the and point them. Or one will fly and another will hold tight. Hope that helps!

Yeah they are really great companions out hunting as well as at home, Lady just turned a year, she has a lot to learn but I’m very impressed with her already, hopefully next year we will head to Michigan for some ruffed and woodies
How old is your griff?

I have a Beretta 20 gauge. Highly recommended. The more videos I see with wire haired pointing griffons the more I feel I need one. Hunted over. Or should I say try to hunt over other pointing breeds that basically ruined the hunt. Range way too far bumping birds before you can get close to the dog. Have done much better with retriever types. But seriously thinking about a wired hair point and Griffon. Right now I have a young mountain cur That I've been training for flushing and retrieving.
I love the beretta 20g, by far my favorite upland shotgun. Lady, the puppy in this video, ended up getting a prize 1 Score 112 on her NAVHDA NA test last fall. She is becoming a great field companion and wonderful bird dog. She points perfectly and listens to commands, can be called off point with a “leave it” or sent in with an “ok!”. She will range out in an open field or tighten up in dense cover. She’s great with dogs and children, mellow and cuddly in the house. Really an amazing dog and much easier to work with then my lab. We are planning to breed her, puppies will most likely be available next spring (2024).
