Seriously! He breaks the 4th wall in almost every track. The only rapper to rap about rap and directly speaking to the fans and referencing other celebrities n rappers in his lyrics
This was fucking genius. Shows hes not blind to the criticism, and even agrees with a lot of it. This humanized him. It shows that he doesnt just hide in a mic booth saying whatever he wants without caring about anybody else Btw, relapse is absolutely a fuckin classic.
I agree in a way, but in the sense that his awareness here is two-fold. He's saying "I know all my flaws", but also "but you gotta see it from the perspective of my life, what I went through, my evolution". Like "Relapse is bad", his response is "I had to re-learn how to rap". People are too hard on him, and it's not that he doesn't see it too, but I think he feels like it's not necessary to hate on him for that, like a true supporter will stick by you as you go through shit, not just say f* that album. He's a person too. He also says "many people loved that album". Which means it's not so black and white. Those people can feel that way, but not everyone agrees even. So he did something right, even when doing something "bad". Such is life. Take the good with the bad. That's being realistic. So take Eminem with the bad too. Some people just fake fans.
I agree but not gonna lie I wanted more of this on the album. Yes we got a good amount of this kinda stuff on the album. I think its one of his best, really love it. But I was hoping it'd have like... 200% more stuff like this, funny interactions between the 2. Maybe it would've got old as a schtick for the music. Regardless, this is hilarious and also shows how self aware he is.
@Andy-td8eo Well he picked on pop stars because he was kinda getting grouped in with them at the time- sure still petty. But Em doesn't pick on rappers, he responds to their bs. People say Em never had any real battles. Limp Bizkit was huge when he dissed them. Everlast's career was on the sunset, and Em was definitely bigger of course, but it could've gone differently- Everlast was somewhat respected. Went at Canibus who was poised to be the "next superstar" til his album flopped. And LL son'd him lol. Sure Em doesn't have a Jay Z and Nas battle. But no one at that level has ever really gone at Eminem. You could argue that Rick Ross was more "relevant" at the time he dissed eminem. But Em probably preferred to leave him to 50. He ignored game too... can you blame him though... also Gucci. Gucci didn't really diss him he just said he definitely isn't the king of hip hop and kinda expressed further that Em's music isn't that well liked. Tee grizzly also dissed him but we're not gonna say he's on em's level are we, like popularity wise. I'm a fan of Tee Grizzley. I guess Em doesn't strike back at everyone.
I literally recorded & edited audios of me arguing with myself just like this back as a teen, except it wasn't related to music or the music industry, and it wasn't nearly as much of a big deal, because I'm obviously not famous. I named it "Mitch vs Mitch." 🫠👌
The reason this didn't come out before the album: Em realized people didn't understand the concept. They kept saying listen backwards, nah. The disclaimer says "If you are too R*tarded to listen in sequential order (like he TOLD YOU, so you must be R to not get something that simple) etc". In the correct order no one dies, slim gets shot but that was a dream, hence why both are here now. The album was trying to say "we are the same". (remember Evil Twin, "B* we are the same). It was never a battle. Nor is this video. People are too caught up in their immature shit to see the whole reason for this. It's therapy. Shady was a real part of his life, who he performed (and lived) as, for a long time. This is to everyone giving him so much flacc for "falling off". He's acknowledging the critiques, he's aware of them, but he's at the same time saying "Bro, try to see the perspective of my life, I had to re-learn how to rap" etc. In a way Shady is the audience. He's talking both to Shady, to himself basically, and to us. Therapy. Also showing he can be all of him, like on the album, because that includes Shady. He can't kill Shady because he can't kill himself. EDIT: Yep, Knox understood.
I agree 100%. I think the whole concept of the album and the message of this interview is flying over so many heads. They think this is just meant to be Shady kicking Em's ass in a roast, and not even understanding why Marshall made this interview in the first place. I've even seen a few people say Shady is more mature than Marshall, which is the wildest thing I've ever heard. It's unfortunate but hopefully some people will understand over time. Especially with this video (and hopefully a GC2 video).
Ya, I always thought the listen backwards thing wasn't it as well. This video shows how compartmentalized em had Slim and himself. Like he wanted to chalk Slim up to a substance induced personality who wasn't really him, but now he's realized parts of Slim are truly parts of himself that would only come out while under the influence. For whatever reason Marshall would bury Slim traits in his mind. But like in the Houdini video when Slim and Em meshed this video seems to imply the future of Em is a version where it's a mixture of Slim and Marshall
@@AJ........ 💯agreed. Both the endings of the Houdini video and this interview seem the point towards that. Plus, he also said "it's not about me or you, it's about *Eminem* and the fans." TES being a great example. That album really felt like a healthy mix of Marshall and Slim. What comes to mind are the first two verses compared to the 3rd verse on "My Dads Gone Crazy". I would love to see an album called "Grand Finale" or something like that, as a trilogy for TES and Encore.
@@KnoxHill Knox please read found this from another user. But it's very interesting There's more clues! In the cover story for Complex, they said the way he made the album, would make Christopher Nolan tip his hat. Nolan made the movies Inception (about a dream inside of a dream), Interstellar (where they have to find clues to figure out what's going on) and Tenet (about a former CIA agent, who is tasked with tracing the origin of objects that are traveling backwards through time). People like to say the reverse theory is crazy, I don't think Em does anything by mistake anymore. Could also be a superman theme as he has that going on. The death of slim shady might be a reference to the comic "the death of super man". The trilogy starts with "the death of super man", the second is "a world without superman" and the last one being "the return of superman".

That what I thought about watching the Houdini video, and the two coming together in battle and becoming the best of both.
Shady will never die. Period.
Every little tiny detail is on point. As always. This man is a genius, this is so clever - introspective, funny and showing vulnerability. I love this man, he truly is a master of his craft.
I loved relapse from day one. I’m glad it’s being more appreciated
I love ur break downs. It's actually a great watch !
I’ve been waiting for your reaction but mainly just bc I’m like yo Knox would love this

Been waiting for you bro to break this down ❤❤❤❤
Thanks Knox! Looking forward to vids from the SGP festivities. ☮
Eminem is amazingly creative and knows his truths. I’ve been enjoying all of your reactions. ❤🔥🐐
I’m all here for it
The ending is a shoutout to the Paul Rudd famous scene from "Hot Ones". This scene: m.th-cam.com/video/3Yd3lQVbkYc/w-d-xo.html
nice
Knox nailed it on the head about relapse💯💯 a lyrical masterpiece that people are appreciating more and more over time
Relapse is so disgustingly underrated, aside from the accents which I actually like and make it unique. But the rhythm schemes are unbeatable
Knox, you are the best!
This is genius if you ask me. So so creative.
This is one of the most genius moves ever🔥🔥...... is therapy without paying for therapy and it's addressing everything that everybody is saying about it absolutely genius
@20.25 Shady drinking the quotes the drunken Benzino from his drinks champs interview is absolute genius. 🔥🔥🔥
Watched it a few times now, and kept checking to see if you had time to do your reaction! Well done yet again!!! You truly are the best out there for reaction videos!! 🎉 now go get some rest !!
Slim represents his addiction. An addiction is forever so you need to acknowledge and make peace with it, rather than deny it. You just need to remain vigilant, accept its part of you, and recognize when it is being triggered or taking control back.
He (or they- Marshall, Slim Shady and Eminem) are cleaver boys! Knox you are the cleverest reactor! Thank you for these reactions I love all.
I never fell out of love with Em ever since I was 7 hearing like toy soldiers on the radio I was hooked he raised me more than my dad ever did.
That’s sad, but also cool. Your dad should not have failed you! Too many dads do unfortunately.
@@jeremycasper8686 Haha thanks, yeah man he just never cared but oh well
"Life's been great since you been gone" ~ That's from an Mgk song 😳 16:40
Yaaaay i'm so hyped for your reaction 😍
Im glad you like it
The promise of shady getting to not give a fk aimed at deserving targets with marshal guiding it….. hell yeah I am excited to see what’s coming
Fire reaction man 🔥
I do love the Relapse Album! It's my 3rd Favorite Album from Eminem. I constantly bump it in my car to this day.
nobody play eminem in the car. in the hood.
@Dezzyyx im sorry, I live, work and play in Las Vegas Nevada Dezzyx. But I do bump the Relapse CD in my Jaguar S-Type driving up and down the strip here my friend.
@@normnormey9313 Ah sorry friend I was just joking. It's a thing that many people say about Eminem, who don't like him. "no one drives around with eminem in their car", "no black people in the hood listen to eminem". They think Eminem is not cool. It's silly. But you are truly cool for doing so! :)
@@normnormey9313 and very cool that you live in Las Vegas, must be quite special.
I've been waiting for your reaction!!
18:24 the pointing!! 😂 honestly I had the same reaction
Glad you’re back.
