Would Billy be the most outstanding? Because Earl's delivery sounds lethargic (even thought that's his niche now)
And Ka doesn't stick out like a sore thumb, a bit somber...
Milo is a poet and that would make us anticipate his verse so much.

It’s been a while since I’ve witnessed lyricism as savage and impressive like the closing track:
“I want us to be alone in your home /
I wanna suck the marrow out ya bones /
I wanna show you what I learned from the worst people I ever known”
That gave me chills, how Billy borders on romanticising the act is something I haven’t been able to shake off.

I started listening to this album from your Great Albums of April video, and I near instantly fell in love with how dark, gritty, slow and dispondent it is.
All I can picture when listening to the album is someone sitting in a cramped, dark, dank, roach infested 35th floor apartment, curled up on a broken twin sized mattress digging into any open patch of skin with a rusted, dull butter knife.

Red Dust might be one of my favorite billy songs I've heard thus far. On first listen (a pretty passive listen), when I heard bits of the last verse, it sounded romantic like he was yearning for someone he loved. And then when I read the lyrics, the romance and yearning was still there, but it's definitely not for someone he loves. Really jarring shift, but really cements it as an unforgettable track for me.

Just came across this. This feels like some golden era Slangcorp shit (GDP's old rap crew). Loving it.

Great review of so far my 2nd favorite rap album of 2019. I do think the Mothermary feature is hauntingly beautiful though.

Honestly, it gets better with time. Especially once the story and the narrative that runs through it start to poke out through the decrypted poetic lyrics, it’s a great album. The instrumentals make sense with the lyrical content and I’d say it does have a flow to it. It’s not as loose as it seems. I’d give it a 9 personally.

I think the main reason Billy is one of my favorite artists today is because of the fact he doesn't glorify or preach about how evil crime is. I think he'll be a cult favorite artists in about 10 years from now. Like his music will show up in movies and TV shows and people will look his shit up

Is it worth saying that the "steak knives" think might be a reference to the film glengary glenross. "First price is a sports car. Second prize is steak knives. Third prize is youre fired."

  • @SH-xl8ox

Steak knives is from the movie "Glenn Gary Glenn Ross"

  • @RoaringPirates
    @RoaringPirates 5 ปีที่แล้ว

The steak knives thing is actually a reference to the play Glengarry Glen Ross, where a bunch of salesmen are pitted against each other to sell the most. First prize is a new car, second prize is a set of steak knives, third prize is "you're fired."
